"Oh, they're in my daddy's room. Come on, I'll show you."
He walked towards her and grabbed her hand. He took her to Joo Ji Hoon's room. He just turned the knob and the door opened miraculously. She felt so stupid because she didn't even think to try that. They entered the room and she saw large portraits of her hanging on the walls. "See? This is my mommy. Wait....she looks just like you." He turned to look at her and knew immediately that it was the same person. "Mommy." He went into her embrace, but all she could do was hug him. "Why didn't you come home? I missed you so much."
She didn't know what to do or say. He thinks that she's his mom. 'What am I going to do now?' "Ummmm, don't cry. I...missed you too. I....I didn't even recognize you. You've...grown so much." She hugged him tighter and she felt tears coming out. 'Why am I crying? He's not really my son. What am I going to do?'
They both went back downstairs to the entertainment room.
They played all day and didn't even notice the time go by. "How come I didn't see you yesterday when I came home?"
The boy turned to look at her. "Oh. I was at the cottage playing with my friends. Daddy let me sleep over yesterday."
"Oh."
"Yoojin!" They both turned to the door and saw Joo Ji Hoon. "Yoon Eun Hye."
"Daddy, look. Mommy's back." Yoojin ran towards his dad and Joo Ji Hoon picked him up.
She was confused. She wanted answers and she wanted them now. "Yoojin?" That was the name she picked for her son whenever she had one. She remembered she told him when they were still friends.
He gave her a sad face, but didn't want to try and explain it in front of Yoojin. "Sorry. I forgot to call before I came home. Are you ready to go see mom?"
Yoojin was happy because he was finally going to go see his grandma. "Can I go too, daddy? I miss grandma. I want to see her." He turned to look at Yoon Eun Hye.
"Sure." He was still holding Yoojin in his arms and turned around. "Did you eat anything yet?" He knew that she was still shocked. She would never understand this situation.
"Yes. Mommy already cooked for me." He turned looked past his dad's head. "Mommy. Are you coming yet?"
She finally realized that she was still standing there. "Yes." She followed them and they all went to the car.
Joo Ji Hoon sat Yoojin in the back seat and seatbelted him. She was sitting in the passenger seat, but she was still speechless. He finally got into the driver's seat.
He turned to look at her and wanted to explain, but he couldn't. Not in front of Yoojin. The ride was quiet. Only a couple of words came out from Yoojin. They finally reached the hospital and Yoojin held onto Yoon Eun Hye's hand. She looked up at Joo Ji Hoon, but he didn't say or do anything.
Yoojin ran into his grandma's room. "Grandma."
"Oh, Yoojin. You came to visit me. I miss you so much."
"I miss you too. Grandma,..." but then they entered the room. "Grandma...mommy came home."
She looked up at them. "Yoon Eun Hye, how did..."
Joo Ji Hoon shook his head and Yoon Eun Hye's mom got quiet.
"Oh, yes. You must be so happy."
"Yoojin.." Yoojin turned to look at his dad. "Mommy and I have to go talk. You stay here with grandma, ok?"
Yoojin nodded his head and they exited. They were outside of the hospital sitting on a bench.
"Yoon Eun Hye..."
"Why didn't you tell me?"
"Tell you what?"
"That I have a son. Joo Ji Hoon....did...did you think you could keep him a secret until I went back home?"
"Yoon Eun Hye...I...yes. I wasn't planning on telling you. I guess he must have come back home."
"Is he yours?" She looked at him, but he was just staring out into the sky.
"Yes."
"Where's his mom?"
"She....I don't know."
"Why does he think I'm his mother?"
"He..he saw some pictures in my room and thought that..I'm sorry. I wasn't planning on letting you know of these problems. I'll tell him the truth."
"No....don't. He was so happy to know that I'm back. I don't want to...see him cry anymore."
"I'm sorry."
"Why didn't you tell me about him?"
"I...you...you didn't need to know."
"I didn't need to know that I have a son?"
"Well, you don't really have a son."
"Well, now I do. What are we going to do about it? He thinks that I'm his mom. He thinks I've abandoned him his whole life."
"We can just tell him the truth."
"No. I just met him today and I already love him. I love him as if he was my own." He turned to look at her and saw the sadness in her eyes. "Joo Ji Hoon....I want to be his mom."
