"Do you....I mean, when will you be back."
"I don't know. The last surgery is in a month."
"What about the wedding."
"I'm sorry, but I won't have time to plan it at all." She looked at him. "I'm sorry." She walked over to him and went into his arms. He was standing by the window with his arms crossed. He pulled her into his arms.
"It's fine. I know that you're busy. Ummmmm, I think.....Yoojin should go back with me." She looked up at him. "I think that you're gonna be very busy."
"Are you saying that I won't have time to take care of him?"
"It's not that. I just think that....you have a lot on your hands right now. Yoojin would just be a..."
She pushed him and walked off. "Fine. Take him."
He followed her and pulled her back. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean it that way. It's just that.."
"Yes. I know. I'm very busy. I'll be at the hospital all day. It's fine." He pulled her face close to his. "Joo Ji Hoon...about the wedding."
He looked away and let go of her face. "I'll just hire a wedding planner. It'll be ready by the time you're done with all your appointments."
He turned around to leave, but she hugged him from behind. "I'm sorry. I didn't think I would be this far advanced in scheduling for surgeries."
He turned around to face her. "It's fine. I know that it's your work. Don't worry about it." He hugged her and smelled her hair. It was a fresh flowery smell.
Her phone rang and she pulled away from him. She got out her cell from her pocket. "Yes? Now? But...fine. I'll be there soon."
"Who is it?" He looked over at her sadly.
"It was just Song Ji Hyo. She had an emergency. She needs me at the hospital immediately."
"Oh, ok. I'll take you."
"No. It's fine. I'll drive."
"Yoojin!" Yoojin came running down the hall. "Put your shoes on. We're gonna take mommy to work." She looked over at him and smiled.
They reached the hospital and she went to Song Ji Hyo's office while Joo Ji Hoon and Yoojin stayed in the lobby.
"What's wrong?"
Song Ji Hyo turned around to face her from the desk. "You're finally here. All your appointments after the second week of this month have been rescheduled."
"What? They've already been rescheduled. They're gonna be so angry."
"No. I've already talked to them. Most of them were fine with it. The ones who weren't, switched with the immediate ones."
"Why did you guys reschedule them?"
"You're engaged. You have to start planning your wedding."
"But.."
"I've already told your patients. They were very happy. They were willing to wait."
"They did?"
"Yep, and they said that you better invite them to your wedding."
She laughed. "Thank you, Song Ji Hyo." She hugged her friend.
"No problem. I knew that you would never do this, so I did it for you." She hugged her friend one last time and left
the office.
She reached the lobby smiling. She saw Joo Ji Hoon playing with Yoojin. Yoojin pointed to his mom and said something. She walked over.
"Is something wrong?"
"No. It wasn't even an emergency."
"Oh. So, you ready to go?"
"Go?"
"To the mall."
"For what?"
"Our wedding rings."
"Oh, ok."
They were on their way to the mall and he noticed that she was still smiling. He turned and looked at Yoojin sleeping in the back seat.
"Are you alright?" She looked over at him.
"Yes."
"Why are you smiling?"
"Because...I....I'm so happy, Joo Ji Hoon."
"About the wedding rings? I know, I know. I didn't even get you an engagement ring. We can get it today."
"No, it's not that."
"Then....what is it?"
"I just have to work for two weeks. Then, I can rest for a
while and plan our wedding. After the wedding, then, I'll go back to work."
"That's great. But...what about our honeymoon?"
"We're going on a honeymoon?"
"Well, we don't have to if you don't want to."
"It's just that, I'll be very busy."
"I know. Just forget it."
They were at a shop looking for rings.
He made a quick purchase while she was not looking.
"Did you like any?"
"Yes, I like that one." The guy pulled it out for her to look at. "It's a princess cut."
"How many ct.? I don't like big diamonds."
"It's just.."
"We'll take it." She turned around and saw Joo Ji Hoon behind her. The guy took it and wrapped it up.
"Joo Ji Hoon, why did you do that?"
"If you like it, just get it."
"What about your ring?"
"You can pick for me."
"Ok." She went searching again. She found a perfect match.
They reached home and he brought Yoojin to his room. He went into her room. They've been sleeping in the same room since he came to town. He walked over to her where she was sitting and covered her eyes.
"Joo Ji Hoon, what?"
"Don't look." He pulled his hand away and grabbed her left hand. She felt a ring being slipped on her ring finger. "Ok, now look."
She looked at her finger and it was a beatiful engagement ring. "Joo Ji Hoon, you didn't have to get this."
"I have to. We're engaged. I know I should have gotten it sooner, but it's just been so hectic."
They were looking eye to eye. Her pulse was beating faster. Her breaths were short. She noticed a cloud came over his eyes. "Joo Ji Hoon,....is it ok if.....I kiss you?" She went forward and kissed him on the lips.
