Chapter 2

Meeting Up

She immediately called her mother's doctor. Im Taebin looked at her suspiciously, but turned back to the television.

"Hello, this is Doctor Kim Jung Hoon. I can't answer this call right now, so leave your name and I'll call.."
She didn't wait for the beep or leave any message.

"Im Taebin, I have to go. My mother's in the hospital."

She grabbed her purse and keys and left, but right when she got to the door he went with her.

"I'll take you there. I know how you are when you're in a rush."

"I'll go by myself. You can go home if you want. I don't know when I'll be back."

She walked past him and left him standing there at the door. He turned around to look at the television. They were still talking about Joo Ji Hoon. He remembered hearing this name before, but he just couldn't remember where.

She was racing towards the airport. When she got there, she bought an airline ticket to Inch'on. Running towards the gate, she crashed into a guy. She got up and grabbed her stuff. The person she crashed was picking up her stuff. She bent down to pick up her things that fell out of her purse. When she turned to look at him, she froze.

"Yoon...Eun....Hye....."

"Joo Ji Hoon.....what are you doing in...Seoul?" pretending not to know that he was just on television.

The intercom came on and announced that the flight for Inch'on was now boarding the last people on. They both got up and walked to the same gate. They gave them their tickets and went inside the airplane. They were looking for their seats and it ended up being next to each other.

When they had settled down, she tried to ignore him, but he was stealing glances of her.

All of a sudden out of nowhere she asked him, "Are you going back to see my mom?"

"Yes...you don't want me to?"

"No...it's not that. Why didn't you tell me that you were in town?"

"I didn't want to bother you."

"You still didn't answer my question earlier."

"I was on a business trip, until your mother's doctor called me."

"Oh, I'm sorry about that."

"No, you shouldn't be. She's my mom too."

She looked at him while he was staring at her and felt a little guilty. She knew that he's been taking care of her mom since she left Inch'on. She felt a little awkward, but she knew that she should talk to him about it sooner or later.

"About our engagement...I..."

"Don't worry about it. I've already got the paperwork ready. It's almost been four years and it's gonna be void soon. We just have to wait a couple of months, that's all."

She looked at him while he was saying this, but he wasn't looking at her. She knew that talking about their engagement was not something he liked to talk about so she just left it alone.

He was trying not to look at her because everytime he looked at her, just the image of her still hurts him.

Seeing her back at the airport brought back painful
memories. On that one painful evening, he went from the happiest man on earth to being the poorest man ever lived.

He thought of that painful evening. How he wanted to erase his memory and not remember any of it. The only thing he had wanted to remember was spending time with her.
