Joo Ji Hoon knew what today was. It was a day he will never forget in his entire lifetime. But when Yoon Eun Hye asked to go out tonight, he didn't know what made him say no. He guessed it was because that day was meant to be the special day and not be ruined by a fake marriage. He thinks back to that day.
"Can you void the contracts since our father's are not here anymore?"
"What contracts?"
"The marriage contracts. You know, our engagement?"
"Oh, why?"
"I have something really good to tell you. Im Taebin finally asked me to marry him. Aren't you happy for me?"
"....con..congratulations."
"So,can you?"
"Well, the contracts weren't signed by our fathers. They were signed by us. We have to go by it, or..."
"Or what? Tell me! Or what!?" She was angry that she was still stuck in this engagement.
"Or...the company will be...sold off."
"Sold off?"
"There is someone who has already signed a contract with our father about this situation. I didn't want to tell you before, but I think that you should know."
"So I can't marry my boyfriend?"
"Well, you can. Remember how it is said that if after the four years, we are still not in love, then the contract will be void? Well,..." He didn't really want her to know but he loved her too much. "Well, the four years are almost up. We just have to wait for two years."
"Two years?!! I can't wait that long."
"Unless, you would like to lose the company."
"The company is not important to me." She looked at him and saw that he was sad. She knew that he loved the company because it was started by both their father. "But, I know that you care about it a lot. I won't do anything to hurt you. I can wait for two more years."
She was busy planning things with the wedding planner and hadn't noticed that it was already 5 in the afternoon. She noticed that the wedding planner was tired.
"Ms. Song, you can go on home. It's already late."
Ms. Song looked at her watch and then nodded her head.
It was already late. Yoojin and her mom didn't come bother her all day.
"Yoojin!" She walked towards his room looking for him. "Where are you, honey?"
She walked into his room and found him asleep on his desk. She walked up to him and then moved the book away. She was about to lift him up when a voice interrupted her.
"Can you lift him?"
She was scared for an instant. She then turned around to look at Joo Ji Hoon. "You think I always need you around?"
He walked up to her and then looked her straight in the eyes. "What else am I good for?"
He winked at her and then faced his son. He lift him up and then put in bed. He kissed Yoojin's forehead and then turned around to face her. He smiled at her, but all she did was frown. She turned around to leave, but he walked up to block the door.
"Are you mad, I cancelled the dinner tonight?"
She looked away. "No, I'm fine. I know that you're busy. Just go back to work."
He saw the sadness and it made him smile. He knew that he did it to her and that made him happy.
"I finished work early. Let's go for dinner then."
Yoon Eun Hye just walked past him. She went down into the kitchen to clean up.
"You ready to go to dinner?" Joo Ji Hoon asked again.
"I don't feel well. I just want to stay home." She started wiping the stove.
He knew that whenever she got mad, she would always clean something up to clear her mind. He walked up to her and then hugged her. She was shocked.
"I'm sorry about this morning. Let's go. We need a day off." He swept her off her feet and carried her to their room while she was screaming.
"Joo Ji Hoon! Let me go! Put me down now!" She was hitting his back while he was walking up the stairs. When they got to their room, he finally put her down. He was standing by the door looking at his furious, but beautiful Yoon Eun Hye.
He looked at her sadly. "Yoon....Eun...Hye.....do you know.....what today is?"
She immediate shot up to look at him. She stared at him wide eyes. 'So, he does remember. Why didn't he say anyting this morning then? He must have just remembered, that's why he came home early.'
"Joo Ji Hoon, what about today?"
Joo Ji Hoon looked down at the floor again. "Do you remember about two years ago? On this particular day? What happened?"
"Yes."
Joo Ji Hoon looked at her.
"Im Taebin proposed to me and I felt like the luckiest girl in the world."
Joo Ji Hoon looked at her one last time and then turned around to walk out the door. He opened the door, but felt a hand around his wrist. He turned to look at her.
"But....also the day....I....broke a heart." She put her hand over his left chest. "This heart. This heart that loves me so blindly that it'd rather break than to speak out." Tears were slowly rolling down her cheeks.
