"I'll take you home."
"It's ok. I'll just take a cab."
He didn't wait for her excuse any longer. He pulled her towards his car. She got into his car and stayed quiet the whole ride home. He finally broke the silence.
"Did you want to go straight to the hospital?"
"Yeah." She was quiet again.
"So...when is the wedding?"
"Wedding?"
"Aren't you engaged to Im Taebin?"
"Oh...yeah. We haven't talked about a date yet. I've been under a lot of stress lately. It just hasn't come up yet."
"You know that the contract is going to be voided in a
couple of months right?"
She didn't say anything. He turned to look at her and saw that she was looking out the window. All of a sudden her phone rang.
"Hello? Oh, I'm sorry about that. I know that I shouldn't have left you like that. I've already reached Inch'on.
Yes. Okay, I'll call you later."
She turned to look at him, but his expression was emotionalless.
"Im Taebin?" He asked looking at her.
She turned to look at him. "Yeah."
They finally reached the hospital. She rushed to the front desk with him following her. When she reached her mom's room, her mother looked up from the book she was reading.
"Mom!"
"Yoon Eun Hye! What are you doing here?"
"Why didn't you tell me that you weren't feeling well again."
Right then Joo Ji Hoon walked in.
"Joo Ji Hoon, when did you come back. I thought that you were going to be in Seoul for another couple of days?"
He didn't want her to know that he left early because of her. "Oh, the meeting was cut short. How are you?" He went up to her and kissed her on the cheeks.
"It's nothing serious. Did...you two come back together?"
"Mom, we just happened to be on the same flight."
Right then, Doctor Kim Jung Hoon entered the room.
"Oh, hi Joo Ji Hoon. I saw your interview and you left during..."
"Ahem...um, Yoon Eun Hye is here. You said that you wanted to talk to her?"
She obviously knew what the doctor was talking about.
"Hi, haven't seen you in a while."
"Yes, I've been busy."
"Can...can the both of you come into my office. I need to speak to you guys about something."
Yoon Eun Hye looked over at her mom and noticed that she went back to reading.
"Mom, I'll be back." She went and kissed her mom on the same side that Joo Ji Hoon had kissed just moments earlier.
In the office, they were sitting across from the doctor.
"If it wasn't serious, I wouldn't have called the both of you. She had a mild heart attack."
"What?" Yoon Eun Hye asked in concern. "How can she have a heart attack."
"Apparently, she heard that you had another boyfriend."
Instantly, she looked over at Joo Ji Hoon.
"Your mother still had hopes that you two would still fall in love and get married. When she heard the staff talking about you and your boyfriend, Im Taebin I think, she had the attack. It was just yesterday, when she came in for her check up."
Joo Ji Hoon didn't look at her. "I thought you already told her about him."
"I didn't want to disappoint her."
The doctor looked from one to the other. "I know that you guys have been engaged for four years now and are not in love, but I suggest that you guys should act like you are when she's around. At least, until the contract ends."
When the doctor suggested this they both looked at each other wide eyed.
