High class delivery boy

Chapter 3: High class delivery boy

“We should try something new.” Sharon grinned as she stood at the doorway of La Gourmet. Michelle lifted her eyebrow and looked at Sharon, who pulled Michelle in with her.

“We always eat at the salad bar, why the change today?” Michelle raised an eyebrow, eyeing Sharon suspiciously.

Before she could answer, a deep voice interrupted them. “How are you doing today girls?” A masculine voice stole both their attention as Sharon smiled brightly at the young man before them.

“Fine.” Sharon chirped, a little too happy and a little too enthusiastically. Michelle eyed Sharon once again and then glanced at the man’s nametag.

Wallace Huo, Manager. She looked up and saw him smiling at her. She looked away, looking more interested in the fake flowers lining the interior of the restaurant than in him.

Wallace’s smile faltered. This beauty standing in front of him was clearly not interested in him. That was a first since he was such a charming young man, and he was not used to it.

“A table for two?” He asked, a smile lighting up his face. Sharon bobbed her head and he held out his arm politely, leading them.

The two sat down and he placed two menu’s in front of them. The beauty that had indirectly stated that she has no interest in him whatsoever was looking around, seeming bored while her bubbly friend was engaged in a vivid conversation with her. She didn’t seem to notice that her friend wasn’t listening. Michelle felt herself drifting away from Sharon’s news on the latest fashion. She swore that her friend had two personalities. One was the ‘I’m-about-to-have-a-nervous-breakdown’ little trainee of a best friend and the other was the one she couldn’t shut up no matter what. Not that she really tried to shut her up. She wondered how her friend switched personalities so quickly. She acted like she was in jail while at work, and was being let out of jail outside of work. What a interesting choice for a best friend.

“Yeah, so I think we should go shopping for Gucci bags, Michelle…..” Sharon continued chattering away.

Michelle. He caught her name while subconsciously eavesdropping.

“Michelle.” He murmured her name as he smiled, walking away.

---

“Yo, Ray! There are two really hot chicks out there.” Wallace said as he flung an arm over his best friend.

“So what’s new?” Raymond rolled his eyes as Wallace slugged him on the arm.

“One’s a chatterbox, and one’s an ice queen. Chatterbox is cute, and ice queen is hot! Found out that ice queen’s name is Michelle.” Wallace grinned as they walked into Raymond’s office. La Gourmet was a franchise and is the biggest restaurant in Hong Kong. It is known for its excellent service and not to mention, excellent food.

“You’re interested in ice queen.” Raymond stated as he sat down on his chair. Wallace took a seat across from him and shook his head.

“I’m interested in her, all right, but I’m interested in her for YOU.” Wallace crossed his legs and jammed his finger in Raymond’s face, who swatted it away.

“I want you to melt her and make her fall for you.” Wallace said as Raymond rolled her eyes and snorted.

“That’s pathetic.” He commented as he began typing furiously on his computer.

Wallace smirked. “Chicken.”

Raymond stopped what he was doing and narrowed his eyes at his best friend, who wore the smuggest look on his face.

“What did you say?” Raymond’s voice was threatening as he gritted his teeth.

“I said you’re a chicken.” Wallace repeated his insult carelessly, knowing that his best friend was the most temperamental person ever.

“I am not a chicken.” Raymond was almost seething, and would have probably had Wallace in a head lock if he wasn’t his best friend.

Thank god. It would not have been a pretty sight.

“Take the dare, and I’ll take that back.” Wallace taunted as he smirked.

Raymond continued staring at Wallace through narrowed, piercing eyes as he nodded curtly.

“Fine. I’ll take on the ice queen while you take the chatterbox. We’ll see who’ll hit jackpot first.” Raymond challenged, an arrogant smile on his face.

“If you’re thinking it’s not fair game, you’re wrong. A chatterbox doesn’t equal an easy target.” Wallace said, stating the truth. Sharon did not look like that kind who would go gaga over gorgeous guys like them. Maybe she didn’t look like too hard of a challenge, but he was sure she had some feistiness in her. Then again, which hot girl didn’t?

The two shook on it and walked out, head held high, egos soaring way over their heads.

---

Raymond’s smile turned into a frown as he saw who Wallace was pointing at. It was the mad woman from the office who he almost punched if she didn’t have two x-chromosomes. He may not be the world’s best gentlemen, but he didn’t hit girls.

Wallace grinned as he saw Raymond’s frown. “Are we losing confidence?”

Raymond shot Wallace an annoyed glance. “Remember I told you about the hormone raging woman?”

Wallace raised an eyebrow as he tried to hold in his laughter. “You described her as butt ugly. I don’t know if you were robbed of your taste in women or what, but she sure as hell isn’t ugly. She’s one fine lady.” Wallace said as he checked her out, not even trying to hide the fact that he was.

Raymond groaned inwardly. His best friend was such a sick pervert. He didn’t know how he put up with the guy.

He found himself being pushed out into the open as he glanced back and threw Wallace a dirty look. He had the nerve to wink at him and walk the other direction, greeting the incoming customers.

“What would you two like?” Raymond said politely as he stood before Sharon and Michelle. Sharon looked up from her menu and smiled at Raymond. Wallace’s target wasn’t bad looking, kind of cute with a tint of shyness. His target did not look up at him yet, totally ignoring his presence.

It bothered him that he had no effect on her. What was her damn problem anyway?

“Michelle…Michelle! What would you like?” Sharon was waving a hand in Michelle’s face, snapping her out of her reverie.

“Huh?” Michelle looked up and saw Sharon looking overly concerned at her.

“Oh, I’ll just have whatever you’re having.” Michelle said as she snapped the menu close. She really wasn’t in the mood to be looking over a menu full of food, half of which she didn’t know what it was.

“Would you ladies want to give our special a try today? Our chef is making a special kiwi strawberry milk tea today.” Raymond said in a low voice, knowing that girls always fall for it. They told him it was ultra sexy and he would see the longing in their eyes. He smirked to himself as he glanced at them.

It had absolutely no effect on Sharon as she seemed to think for a while. “Sure.” She said as she glanced at Michelle.

Michelle made a face, finally looking up. “No thanks, I’ll just have an iced coffee.”

She didn’t seem to recognize Raymond at first. She studied him, and then it hit her. He was the arrogant and temperamental delivery guy from yesterday. Ella loved the baked ziti. Then again, she liked everything that was edible. It was such a waste that Nancy was in Rome, not being able to bicker with Ella over it.

“You’re the delivery guy from yesterday.” Michelle said as he forced a smile. He didn’t like the tone of voice she used.

Sharon looked from her best friend to the handsome guy standing before them. Now she understood. They must have had a slight argument yesterday night when she placed an order for Michelle.

He grinned slightly at her. Least, she remembered him. Now he just gotta work his charm.

If only she can be so easily charmed. In fact, she can be quite an ego crusher at times. She was one tough cookie.

“Yeah, I am.” He replied, still grinning down at her. Sharon was now amused. There is definitely something going on between the two.

He saw Michelle checking him out. Correction: He thought Michelle was checking him out. In truth, she was checking out his ‘creative’ delivery boy suit. Fancy how delivery boys had to dress up so nicely since all they do is run around with food.

“I’m actually not a delivery boy. I’m the heir to La Gourmet.” He stated proudly, standing a little straighter, puffing out his chest in what he thought was 'manly'.

Michelle blinked, not affected by his true identity. “Oh.” Was all she said before giving Sharon her undivided attention. “What were you saying about LV bags?”

“Gucci purses. I was telling you about the one that came out yesterday. It’s really pretty! But quite pricey…” Sharon continued babbling on as Michelle once again, started looking bored.

Raymond seemed taken aback. She had absolutely no reaction after knowing he’s practically rich. So he knows another thing about her, she’s definitely not a gold digger.

Sharon glanced at him as he winked at her. She gave him a small smile and resumed her mindless chatter about Gucci purses.

“So when do you want to shop for LV bags?” Michelle asked as a waiter brought their food over.

Sharon didn’t look a least bit annoyed. Although she knew Michelle was always like this, she didn’t mind. Perhaps, opposites do attract. “Let’s go on Sunday. And we’re shopping for Gucci purses. LV has no new styles out.”

“Oh.” Came Michelle’s reply as she brought the grilled chicken to her mouth.

“Any luck yet?” Wallace’s smug face came into view as he peered at Raymond.

Raymond looked annoyed as he rolled his eyes at his friend. “It’s not 1-2-3. Doesn’t take a minute, idiot.”

Wallace laughed and put his hands up in surrender. “We all know who has female raging hormones today.”

Raymond shot his friend a look before punching him lightly on the shoulder.

---

“You know, I think that Raymond is interested in you.” Sharon said as the two walked towards Fashionistic Inc.

Michelle gave Sharon a strange look. “Raymond who?”

Sharon rolled her eyes. “Gosh, you don’t notice hot guys when they’re around! Raymond Lam! The heir to La Gourmet!” Sharon said as Michelle shrugged.

“He’s hot. But that Wallace guy is hot too.” Sharon grinned as Michelle rolled her eyes.

“That Richard guy is too arrogant for his own good. He’s trouble. I would like to live the rest of my life trouble free, mind you.” Michelle said sarcastically as the two crossed the street.

Sharon sighed nosily. “It’s Raymond! Raymond Lam. Not Richard!”

“Hm mm.” Was all Michelle said in response as Sharon slapped herself in the face. Sometimes, she wanted to tell her friend to let go of the past and continue on with the future, but she knew that Michelle did not want to be reminded of her past even though she was sure it was always on her mind. Perhaps, keeping it all in will make her feel better than bringing it out into the open. She knew Michelle long enough that she will not be comfortable talking about it, but keeping it all within herself isn’t doing her much good anyway. Either way, there was no way she could get Michelle to tell her what she’s thinking, being that she is so stubborn and hard-headed. Hopefully, with time, she will be able to talk about it.

Response to comments:

juicyy - Oh, believe me. I miss RM too. Too bad we can't see them cooperating again on television. Hopefully, RM can cooperate in the near future. Lol. It's been two weeks already? Lol. Bad thing to be taking a side trip since Hamlet is oh so interesting! yuck. Thank god I didn't have to read that. Instead, I had the honor of reading Macbeth. Gosh, I fell asleep when my interesting teacher was giving a lesson on it. Nonetheless, I had to go online and do some heavy research afterwards. lol. Midterms, yeah, pure torture, amen to that. But then again, I'm halfway done, just waiting for Nov. 11th to roll around so I can take my philosophy midterm. *Groans* The worst of the worst! Sometimes, I wonder if the professor know what he's rambling about. He looks stupified when a student contradicts him. Funny to watch. Anyway, I'm waiting for YOU to update YOUR stories. Namely, Happy ending. Get the hint? =]

swtvtgrl - Yup, I love my pairings too. lol. Yeah, I actually find Michelle fitting better with the independent woman, stubborn and hard-headed characters than the joyful ones, in which I find Nancy and Ella more suitable. Michelle has the more 'cool' look, I say.

black_pearl - =D Thanks! I have a feeling a lot of you are gonna like RM's relationship.

hunnie_hunnie - Love-hate relationship, my fav. too. I'm a friggin amazing writer? Oh, I'm touched! Damn! I'm still working on getting more A's in English. I'm ranging around A-'s and B's. Dammit!

tinaa - Thankssss!

aiyahh - Yup, and the two meet! Cute enounter, eh?

uraznhunnie - So I updated, where's my comment? lol!

yukismn - I might be focusing on RM and then ER and then BN and then combining them in one chapter once again. I'll see how it's gonna work. =]

shynium - Little conversation? lol. Remember that Michelle isn't the kind to talk too much. Anyway, where is my poster????

doudou - Likewise. Too bad RM will not be cooperating again on tvb anytime soon. Hopefully, they will in the future.

boowee - Ah, my faithful reader! Oh no, why do you think you gotta watch what you're saying? As long as you're not telling me my story sucks like hell, I'm fine. lol. I welcome both criticism and praises! [More of the latter, please. lol! jk] Anyway, hope you enjoyed this chapter!!

Sherry - Why not just subscribe to see if I've updated? You know, the more you hope, the greater the disappointment? lol.

Rei - Yay! I got you addicted! lol. Writing is actually my stronger subject out of the rest, I better be talented at it! lol. jk jk.

Natalie - RM fan too! I'll make sure to check out your fanfic when i get the time! =]

BondyLover - So since you've read the first chapter, how about the second and third one? Yup, I think I might be focusing on BN next! =]
