Chapter 8

Brings Back Old Memories

"KiMi honey, don't play with mommy's

scarves." SooMi said to her almost two year old

daughter. KiMi laughed and ran off, holding one of

SooMi's silk scarves from Italy in her one small hand,

in the air. "Aigoo. KiMi come back." SooMi called to

her, running after her, and catching her in a bear hug.

She picked KiMi up, smiling at her, and hugged her.

Gently taking the scarf and bringing it back to the

master bedroom, and placing it back in her closet.

Then carried KiMi to the kitchen for her lunch. She

sat her down in her booster seat, then brought out her

baby food. SooMi brought the small spoon to KiMi's lips

but she shook her head. SooMi sighed. "Come on sweetie.

It's good." SooMi tried to coaz her. She then pretended

the spoon was an airpline, and tried to land in KiMi's

mouth, but she wouldn't open. "KiMi. Please for mommy?

It's really good banana." SooMi said. KiMi looked at her

mom, unsure, but then slowly opened her mouth. "That's

a good girl." SooMi said with a smile, and fed her.

Then KiMi swallowed, and smiled widely. "See? It's good

right?" SooMi said, and continued feeding her daughter

until the small bottle of baby food was gone. "Good

girl. Wanna go visit daddy?" SooMi said. KiMi smiled

laughing. "Appa." KiMi said. SooMi's eyes widened.

"OMO. Her first word! Where's the videocamera?" SooMi

said frantically, then got up and quickly got the video

camera from the master bedroom, then came back to the

kitchen. Then started filming again. "Okay sweetie.

Do you want to go see daddy?" She asked KiMi again.

KimI just laughed, smiling. SooMi sighed. "Oh, maybe

she'll say it later?" She thought hopefully. She cleaned

KiMi up then grabbed her bag, with some of KiMi's toys,

and diapers just in case, then put her in her carseat,

then brought her over to the car. She carefully and

securely strapped KiMi in at the backseat, then drove

to Key's restaurant. She brought KiMi out from the backseat

then carried her into the restaurant, where she was

greeted by one of Key's assistant chefs. "Mrs. Kim.

You must be looking for your husband." The kind looking

young man said to her. She nodded with a smile. "He's

in the back, making some adjustments to the menu, but

you can go back if you like, or wait." He told her.

"I'll just wait." SooMi said. He nodded and waved at

KiMi who laughed. He smiled and went back to work.

SooMi walked around the restaurant, a little bit, and

went to the left side of the restaurant, where

you could buy some of the cakes to go. She sat down

at a table, with KiMi in her lap, and saw a familiar

figure of a man in line. "It can't be." She thought.

[Flashback]

Freshman year of high school. "SooMi ah, this one's

for you." A popular senior guy, Park Jaebum had told her,

as he danced smoothly to the beat of Usher's "Yeah."

She had sat with a group of her freshman friends, slightly

embarrased as other girls were envious, that she had

gotten his attention. They had dated for two years,

but then they broke up end of her sophomore year. Since

he was having trouble balancing college and having a

relationship with her in highschool.

[End of Flashback]

After the guy was handed a plastic bag of his phone

in order, he turned around, and sure enough, it was him.

He spotted SooMi sitting there with KiMi and he looked

surprised as well. He walked over. "SooMi?" He said.

She smiled, surprised. "Jaebum oppa." She said.

He smiled. "Hey, I see you have a kid now." He told her.

She nodded. "This is KiMi." She said, and waved KiMi's

small hand at him. And he smiled. "So you're

married now." He said. "Yeah. Two years." She said with

a smile. "That's great. Well, I'll see you." He

said, then said goodbye. She nodded. After a few minutes

Key came around the corner, still in his chef's uniform,

minus the hat. And smiled at Kimi and Soomi. "Hey." she

said with a smile. He leaned down to kiss her, then

they pulled apart. He picked up KiMi and she laughed

at him, smiling. "Appa." She said and his eyes widened,

as did SooMi. "OMO. She said it again." SooMi said.

He looked at her. "She said it earlier?" He said.

SooMi nodded. "When I asked her at home if she wanted

to see you, she said Appa." She explained. "And we didn't

get it on tape. We'll have to try again later." He

said. SooMi nodded. Then he handed KiMi back to her.

"Wanna go eat somewhere?" He asked SooMi. "Don't you

have work till 6?" She asked him. He shrugged.

"I own this place don't I?" He said. She nodded, with

a smile. And he removed his chef's jacket and they left

the restaurant, to go eat out with their daughter.
