and ate spicy lobster rolls and tofu, as they took turns
feeding KiMi her baby food. They smiled at their
daughter as she laughed while she ate. SooMi had brought
out the video camera, and was recording their whole dinner
focusing on KiMi, just in case she said "Appa" again.
So far, they had no luck. "Her first word was really
Appa?" Key said, beaming proudly. SooMi smiled nodding.
"She must really be a daddy's girl." She said, wistfully.
"We could always have another kid, and if it's a son,
maybe his first word will be omma." He suggested, wiggling
his eyebrows. SooMi blushed slightly. "Yobu." She said,
embarrased. "Appa." KiMi interrupted. They both looked
at her wide eyed. "OMO. She just said it." SooMi said.
Key nodded. "KiMi ah, can you say Appa?" Key asked her
gently. "Appa." She said again clearly. Key picked
KiMi up from her booster seat, carrying her happily.
"You said Appa!" He said excitedly. SooMi smiled,
and laughed lightly, glad to see him so ecstatic.
And the video camera had gotten it on tape. Success.
But wait. SooMi realized that her dialogue with Key
about a second child was also on it. "Should they leave
that on there?" She wondered, then thought it would be okay
if they left everything in. To know exactly when KiMi
had said her first word in front of both parents.
Key then placed KiMi back in her booster seat. Then
he and SooMi finished eating. He paid the bill and
they drove home for tne night. SooMi carried KiMi
into her room, and set her down in her crib, tucking her
under her blanket gently, then blowing her a kiss.
KiMi soon drifted off to sleep. SooMi left the room,
turning off the light, and went into the master bedroom,
to get ready for bed. She went into their bathroom, and
changed into her sleeping clothes, brushed her teeht and
washed her face, then came out of the bathroom to see Key
already under the bed covers, asleep. "He must have
had a long day at work." She thought. She slipped under
the covers beside him and drifted off to sleep.
The following day Key was at the restaurant,
making sure everything was going well, asking the
customers if they were enjoying their food. Things were
going well, he went behind the counter of the pastry
section, and was fixing the cakes in the glass display,
when he heard high heels clacking against the floor.
He looked up and his eyes widened, as a tall very skinny
young woman, walked forward with a smile, as she stopped
in front of the counter. "SunMi." Key said, surprised.
He hadn't seen her since she had left him for SeungRi
back in their second year of highschool. Which was almost
five years ago. "Oppa. It's been so long." SunMi said
with a mischievous smirk. "What do you want SunMi?" He
asked warily. "You." She said simply. He shook his head.
"I'm married now." He told her, holding up his left
hand to show his wedding band. She looked a little
taken aback, but then regained composure. She leaned over
the counter a little, closer to him. He could smell
her heavy perfume and backed up a few feet. "But are you
happy?" She said, her voice thick, as she fluttered her
fake eyelashes at him. "I am. SunMi. I'm happy now.
I have a beautiful wife, and a beautiful daughter which
I should have mentioned to you. So leave." He said firmly.
She looked at him quizically. "But do you love them?" She
asked him. He really couldn't believe her. "Of course.
SooMi's my soul mate. I love her and do you know what
the two best moments of my life were?" He asked her.
She shook her head. "When I said "I do" on May 23, 2015
and when I carried my daughter KiMi on April 14, 2016,
in my arms for the very first time." He said. SunMi looked
at him, stunned. "But.." She started to say. "Go now."
He said. "But.oppa I.." She started to say. "Security!"
He called loudly, then the security in his restaurant,
two burly men grabbed her by both arms and quickly
dragged her bony figure out of the restaurant.
Key shook his head and went back to work.
