She had just finished her shower when she heard it. Again! Thinking perhaps she was imagining it, she nevertheless reached for her towel and quickly wrapped herself in it so she could verify for herself. She opened the bathroom door and she realized she had been right.
He was really at it. Again!
The living room was in darkness save for the light from the television’s flat screen, which darkened too as the song in the background faded and the credits rolled up.
“Watching it again I see…” she drawled teasingly at the long-haired, bespectacled man lounging on the coach in front of the TV. The same man quickly clicked on the remote control to turn it off but made an exaggerated show of turning really slowly towards her.
“What?” he smiled at her endearingly, feigning innocence.
She couldn’t help but smile. “Hmm…Let me see…that makes it a total of…” she paused and pretended to count in her head. “…a hundred?”
He laughed. “Did you really come out of the shower to tell me off or did you just need an excuse to strut your stuff?”
Her smile broke into a laugh. “My stuff huh?”
“Well, if that ain’t your stuff, I sure as hell don’t know what is…”
She bit the side of her lower lip as she considered how to best answer while she leaned on the wall adjacent to the TV. Of course she did it because she knew it drove him nuts.
“Come here…” he ordered softly.
“And if I don’t?” She had meant to challenge him but her voice betrayed his effect on her.
He pretended to consider. “Then I’m afraid I’m going to have to watch it again.” He mock threatened. “All 15 discs of it!” He added for emphasis.
“You beast!” She laughed but didn’t budge from where she stood. “You wouldn’t…”
He raised an eyebrow at her. “Won’t I?”
She reconsidered her options. “So you’ll spare me from having to endure it for the nth time if I go there, is that it?”
He nodded. “And take off that pathetic excuse you have for a covering too.”
“Hey! That wasn’t part of the deal.” She complained.
“Uh uh.” He shook his head. “The stakes have gone higher now…” He grinned as he continued “…and getting higher the longer you wait.”
“You do realize that you’re in MY apartment don’t you?” She countered.
”Well, half of yours is mine too.” He reasoned.
“I bought it.” She reminded him.
“After we got hitched…” he was the very voice of reason.
“Oh right…We did get married didn’t we…I forgot.”
She had been joking.
But it seemed he took it seriously. Quite seriously even, because it made him get up off the couch and hurry towards her. “Oh God, baby I’m sorry…”
She looked at him in surprise. “Baby, I was joking…”
He ignored her words. “You know I love you don’t you?” He asked her in concern as he pulled her to him and hugged her so tightly she had no choice but to hug him back. “I promise after this last one, we’ll make it official.” He added. “Please be patient with me a little bit longer.”
“Baby I was just joking.” She repeated in a muffled voice as he pressed her to his chest.
“You know what….why don’t I give her a call right now and tell her we’re going to make the announcement?”
“Stop it! I was really just joking. You don’t need to call her…” She chided him. “At least not right now” she thought to herself.
“I don’t want to lose you…” His voice broke at the thought.
“Silly boy! You’re not going to lose me.” She assured him.
“Promise?”
“Wo ken ni shwo haw.” (I promise you.)
They remained standing, entwined for several moments before she spoke again.
“Unless…”
He tensed up. “Unless what?”
“Unless you put those arms to good use and carry me to bed right this moment.” Mirth was evident in her voice.
He relaxed visibly. “Is that all?”
She nodded happily.
“Your wish is my command Princess.”

Some hours later.
“So…”
“Hmmm?”
“What do you think? A six?” She teased him as she lay sprawled on top of him in bed.
“You’re never going to let me live down that comment aren’t you?” He answered with a smile in his voice.
“Nope! You’ll be paying for that for the rest of your life…” She smiled as she snuggled to him with her eyes closed.
“Do you know why I keep watching it?” He asked her as though the question wasn’t off tangent.
“Because you wish to torture me?” She answered half-seriously, half-sleepily.
He laughed. “No. That’s just a bonus.”
“You want to get kicked out the bed?| She mock threatened him.
He moved them both so they ended up spooning. “Seriously. You want to know why?”
She answered “Yes,” not because she really wanted to know. She really was only harping about it to tease him.
He rested his chin on her shoulder as he hugged her even tighter from behind and answered seriously. “Because if it hadn’t been for that series, I probably wouldn’t be as happy as I am right now.”
His words startled her into wakefulness and she had to turn so she could look him in the eyes. “Baby…” she didn’t know what to say.
He cupped her face gently and dropped a soft kiss on her lips before he whispered almost reverently “Thank you.”
“For what?” She whispered back.
“Agreeing to come back and do the series again.”
“I had to…” She answered him honestly.
“Because you fell in love with me then and couldn’t quite get me out of your system huh?” he teased her.
“And you didn’t feel the same…” she reminded him.
“Oh I did fall for you even then.” He assured her.
“Yeah right” She snorted in disbelief.
“I did.” He assured her. “But you were just 16…”
“And you were a mature man of 22, huh?” She answered drolly.
“You’re such a brat!”
“Yeah, yeah, but you love me anyway.” She grinned at him impishly.
“Truly.” He whispered and kissed her on her forehead. “Madly.” Another kiss, this time on her nose. “Deeply.” It was her lips that was the receiving end after that word.
“I love you too.” She whispered and hugged him fiercely.
And just before they both fell asleep, he whispered. “Wan an (good night) Cheng Lin.”
“Wan an, Xiao Tian.”

A/N: So what did you think of my ‘real’ epilogue? I was supposed to write the next chapter to “A Medieval Tale” but ended up with this instead. I hope you liked it though. I had planned to thank each one of you one by one in the separate chapter but I was afraid I would leave someone out so I’m opting to thank all of you here now instead.
