After they ate brunch, they took a shower (separately of course), got dressed and just spent the rest of the day lazing about enjoying each other’s company. It was late afternoon when they finally decided to head back to the city.
Ximen couldn’t help but look at Xiao You every now and then as he drove, still unable to believe that she still loved him despite everything that he’d done in the past. A part of him was afraid that it might just be a dream. After all he hadn’t exactly been an angel when it came to the opposite sex. But whenever she gave him one of her sweet smiles, he couldn’t help but believe that he must have done something wonderfully good in his previous life to deserve a fate such as this. And even if somehow, the gods deem that the price for having her by his side in this lifetime meant that he’d be reborn as the lowest of life forms in his next one, he knew he would still choose to be with her. He couldn’t help but think though that if his friends could have read his mind at that moment, they would probably say as one, “Would the real Ximen please come out!” He could only smile inwardly at his thoughts.
Xiao You had no idea how it had come about but she was glad to be where she was at that moment. At long last, Ximen was hers. “But for how long?” a contrary voice inside her head asked but she ignored it. She didn’t care how long Ximen had originally intended for their relationship to last. She planned to use whatever time she had to make sure that he loves her as much as she loved him. She aimed to keep him by her side from this lifetime on to the next. Jeez…when did she become so corny? But she could only smile inwardly at her thoughts.

They had been driving for nearly an hour before Ximen finally gave in to the urge to reach out for Xiao You’s left hand with his right. He then brought it up to his lips for a kiss.
She had looked at him in surprise at the move but then found herself reciprocating by pulling at their entwined hands and bringing them up to her lips so he could kiss his hand too.
Her move nearly unmanned Ximen. He couldn’t believe how such a small gesture could affect him so. He’d had numerous women ride beside him in this car but she had been the first one whose hand he’d willingly sought out and kissed like that. Just as she had been the first one to ever kiss his hand like that. He found that he liked it.
They kept holding hands. Only the need to shift gears making them let go for a while. And then one of them would seek the other’s hand out again.
Silence reigned for the duration of the drive.
But neither of them minded.
Their entwined hands spoke for each other.
Both realized a simple truth.
That sometimes, no words are needed…
…when a touch can say so much more.

A/N: I had wanted to write a long chapter for these two (like I’d promised you all before) but I found myself writing this instead. I hope that such as it is, it satisfied the ‘romantics’ in most, if not, all of you. (^_^) Of course, it could just be cheesy LOL. What can I say, baka baduy lang talaga ako =)
____
I look at her and have to smile as we go driving for a while
Her hair blowing in the open window of my car
And as we go [the traffic/I see the] lights
I watch them glimmer in her eyes
In the darkness of the evening
*[And/That] I’ve got all that I need
Right here in the passenger seat
Oh I can’t keep my eyes on the road
Knowing that she’s inches from me
We stop to get something to drink
My mind clouds and I can’t think
Scared to death to say I love her
And then the moon peeks from the clouds
I hear my heart it beats so loud
I tried to tell her
Simply…
*
Oh I know…
This love grows…
