He didn’t move from his seat. No one dared to breathe. As he was waiting for Barbie’s decision, all kinds of horrible possibilities flowed through his mind. What if she’s not ready for another relationship? What if she already decided to get back together with Vic? The complete silence in the studio tortured him a little bit more.
“Let’s give it a try..”She said shyly
Alan stood up and ran towards Barbie. He couldn’t even believe that she’s willing to give him a chance. He knew that Barbie still loves Vic but he was determined to catch her attention. Hell may break loose, but he won’t let go of this chance. He hugged her tightly as a small smile form from his lips.
“Thank You..”His eyes never leaving her beautiful face as he pulled back
Her mind taking the lead although her heart pleads her to reconcile with the man she really loves. She knew it would be unfair for Alan for he might think he’s just the shock absorber. But, God knows, she really wants to move on, she really needs someone to take care of her, someone who will love her more than anything else, more than contracts and work. Ever since she broke up with him, she built walls around her heart. She did nothing but hope that one day, she will fall out of love and everything will return to what they used to be.
Barbie pulled him again for another warm embrace as she whispered “I never wished to have greatest man in the world by my side..I just want someone who will love me unconditionally..Will you promise not to break my heart?”
She tried to hide the hesitation in her eyes as she heard him answer “I will never break your heart..”

Ding Dong
Xu Mama thought he suddenly went bankrupt. Holding his bags and suitcases with both hands, he tried to look as pitiful as possible in front of the Xu residence.
“What’s with the suitcases, Zai?” Xu Mama inquired
“I wanna live here again, Ma..” He said bearing a cute grin in his face
The woman tried to dig in all kinds of explanation as her mouth suddenly went agape. His arrival was just more unexpected than a sudden Armageddon.
“But why?” Curiosity killing her as she led him to the living room
“I’m your son-in-law, right?” He joked as he sat on the couch where he used to cuddle with Barbie
“Of Course you are..But can you at least tell me what are you planning to do?..”Xu Mama answered joyfully
“I can’t let her forget me just like that. Alan likes her so I’m here to secure my fortress..I’m here to strengthen my defense..” He explained logically
“Are you fighting a battle or something?” The woman had to laugh as she asked
“Yeah..and I can’t afford to lose..”
“Just be a good soldier and I”ll lead the army..” Xu Mama assured him
“You’re the best, Ma..” He hugged her like a little kid who found his back up until she can’t breathe anymore
“Now go upstairs, change clothes and join me for dinner..” She said as she motioned him to follow
“Yes Mam!” He answered and saluted like a real soldier
“Silly Boy..” Xu Mama muttered while shaking her head

After their first dinner as a “couple”, Alan led her to his car to drive her home. After 30 more minutes of sweet –talking and occasional winking, he pulled off in front of her house and opened the car door for her.
“I’ll pick you up tomorrow..” He said smiling
“Okay..Uhmm.....Xiao Zhu....I...I’m not...”She answered stammering. Barbie swallowed hard as she was trying to find the right words that would describe her feelings as of the moment.
“Don’t worry..I’m not trying to pressure or force you into something that you’re not sure of..” He perfectly understood what she was trying to say as he held her hands warmly “Just open your heart..and still if you can’t seem to like me no matter how hard I try..I’ll set you free..”
Barbie felt a ton of weight leave her heart. The man was like a prince charming after all. Being with him makes her feel like she was the most special woman in the world.
The kiss on her forehead broke her out of deep thoughts. She was startled at first but managed to compose herself. Unable to bear the embarrassment floating through the air, Alan started walking back to his car after bidding her goodbye.
“Am I doing the right thing?” Barbie asked herself as she watched the car disappear into the darkness of the night. She walked towards the doorway letting confusion take over her sanity. As ridiculous as it may sound, she didn’t notice the familiar SUV parked in front of their residence. She wasn’t aware she would be ever more confused once she opens the door. Another “prince charming turned into a soldier” was ready to take him into a whirlpool of emotions.
