White bed linens. Long Curtains. This was not his room, he thought. Lightly rubbing his eyes, he sat up from the bed and tried to remember what exactly happened before he ended up lying in here. His eyes automatically searched for someone, someone he’s not supposed to search for, anymore.
Few moments later, his manager came rushing into his room. Shocked expression plastered in his face, ZaiZai didn’t even know what on earth transpired these past two days.
“ZaiZai, have you lost your brain or have you lost your mind?..What were you thinking stuffing those sleeping pills in your mouth?..Have you rotten your common sense?” His manager’s tone was enough to worsen his current state
“I didn’t mean to, okay?..” He answered while massaging his forehead. “It’s just that I was so tired and I wanted to sleep..”
“Sleep?..Do you want to sleep for the rest of your life?..” His manager couldn’t believe he overdosed the medicine. He could’ve suffered from heart attack too, when he saw him sleeping like a living corpse in his condo.
“Did the media knew about this?..” ZaiZai asked
“Of Course...What do you expect?..You were sleeping like a comatosed person for two days.”
“Who came to visit?..”
“F4 and Xiu Jie Kai..”
“Oh..” He answered half-heartedly
“Xu MaMa too..”
“I already told your parents not to worry..They wanted to come but I told them there’s no need to worry..The doctors managed to pump out the pills..”
A faint knock on the door disturbed the conversation. Like an apparition, the most unexpected person appeared in front of him. Not that he didn’t want to see her, it’s just that things are getting harder for him when she’s around. There’s no need for her to repeat those hurtful statements like a loud slap in his face. He knew she moved on already, and there’s nothing he can do to placate his
broken soul.
“I’ll leave the two of you..”His manager said while walking towards the door.
Barbie slowly took her steps to his bedside. Taking the seat with her trembling hands, she was unsure of what to say,or what to do. The moment she knew about the sleeping pills incident, she debated herself day and night whether she should come or not. Maybe Vic wouldn’t want to see her. Moreover, she knew that their last encounter was just too painful for the man to handle.
“How are you?..” Her eyes almost emitting her concern
“I’m fine..Thanks for visiting though..” His head tilted toward the other side. He can’t seem to look at her, afraid of seeing her worried expression. In fact, seeing her won’t help him move on at all.
“I cooked porridge and if you want to eat...” She said while reaching for her paper bag
“No..I’m okay..” There was an obvious coldness in his voice
“Stop being stubborn..” She argued in a very soothing tone, if that’s possible
“Just give it to your BOYFRIEND..” He emphasized the last word for the dramatic effect
“I smell jealousy here..” She teased while chuckling. At least the atmosphere changed a bit
“Jealous?..You even deprived me of the right to be jealous..” He wasn’t smiling at all
Honesty and Blunt Attitudes filled the room like hell, she thought she was drowning. Every question she asked was answered with just a simple nod, a excessively irritating yes and an overly annoying no.
“I’ll just leave the food here..In case you got hungry..”
“Barbie, Why are you doing this?..” He asked hopefully
“Didn’t we agreed to be lifelong friends?..”
“Are you even aware that I feel tortured when you’re still this caring of me?..”
“Zai, Call me selfish or what..I just don’t want to be the least person in your life..” She said, immediately walking out of the room. Embarrassment could kill, she thought
Vic gave out a mischievous smile as the door shut closed. Her actions speak of her real feelings but damn her words before just left him plain agonizing.
“Actions are even more important, right?..” He tried convincing himself
He suddenly reached for the rice porridge at his table. He opened the lunch box like a grinning fool and started eating. Damn, he terribly missed her cooking.
