“You let her go just like that?!!” Dee eyed the man with complete incredulity. Yes, she didn’t expect that Alan will develop romantic feelings for her sister..but she wanted to be fair to him. She restrained herself from neither encouraging nor discouraging him. Afterall, he was a friend.
“I must be a total fool..” Alan joked
“Don’t highlight what is obvious..” Dee chuckled
How he managed to say what he told Barbie about the ten day- deal, he didn’t know. It was quite amazing that after every effort he exerted just to make her agree into dating him, every setback he overcame, at the end of the day, he pushed her towards his rival. It was damned ridiculous.
“Then I guess we should wait for ten days..If she comes back, Congratulations..You’ve won the battle..”
“Will she really come back?..”His voice trailed off
His face lost it’s usual color, his lips thin and straight. A comedian by nature, but when it comes to the matters of the heart, he knew that hiding his emotions could never be his forte.
“We’ll see..” At that moment, those words were the only thing she allowed herself to say.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A whole plethora of emotions enveloped her in the silence of the night. Thinking of possible and reasonable ways to accomplish the deal, she still feared of what might happen the next few days. Though she was sure of something.. Her heartache last year was more than enough for her to bear, and she’s not bargaining for another one soon.
Out of nothing—or rather out of something she wouldn’t dare accept to herself, she found her hands carelessly seeking the only memory she spared for reminiscing—his necklace. Memories flooded her instantaneously, but she won’t ever admit it in fear of being taken for granted, again. When Vic guested on her sister’s show for promotions, nervousness jumped from her throat..When Vic confessed in Kang Xi Lai Le that he was the one who wasn’t able to take care of her, her heart fluttered and When Vic said that he will wish for her happiness when she finds another man, she thought it was so cruel that she didn’t know whether to die to save herself from further hurting,
or to kill the man who caused her so much pain.
She took the necklace and held it close to her. She vividly remembered the time when they argued over it’s ownership. They both like it so much so they decided to use it alternately.
“When you walked away, you told me you’re giving this
up..Does that mean you’re giving up on me too?..” She silently wondered as she stared at the lonely accessory.
Just like waking up from a beautiful dream, she stopped herself from further recollection
“Reality Check, Barbie..” There comes the negativity again. Everytime she remembers something about Vic, a part of her strikes with pessimism.
“Tomorrow will be the big day” She thought before drifting off to sleep

Vic thought it was paradise on earth. After the separation, Seeing Barbie preparing breakfast in his kitchen was something he didn’t even dare dreaming of.
“You...you...how?....” Vic tried formulating an incoherent statement while he pointed at her shocked. He tried rubbing his eyes but it wasn’t just an illusion
“I rubbed my eyes..why she didn’t disappear?..” He foolishly asked himself
“I made breakfast..” Barbie said in a matter-of-fact tone like she made breakfast for him in a regular, as in daily basis, as if their break up was just a nightmare everyone hated.
Seeing Vic standing still like his foot was glued on the
stairs,she started explaining
“If you’re asking how I got in..I asked Xiu Jie Kai for the keys..If you’re asking what I’m doing here, I’m here to cook breakfast, If you’re asking what’s the point of coming , I want to invite you for a vacation..If you’re asking why I’m acting like this....” Barbie babbled words she knew would make her look like a madwoman gone insane only to be distracted by the sudden question
“I’m asking you if you still love me?..” His voice demanding, His stare almost piercing through her skin, he wanted to know..hell he was dying to know.
She shut her eyes closed and tried comprehending the situation she put herself into. To say “Yes, I still love you” will be unfair for Alan and to the both of them..and yet ironically, to answer with “No, I don’t love you anymore..” would turn her into a lying liar. How ridiculous.
“ We go on a vacation and then we decide after..” She finished the argument and led him to the table to feed him. It’s been quite a long time since she cooked his breakfast. For now, she can pretend like nothing happened, as if they were still together.
“Thank you for giving me this chance..”
Damn that sincere look in his eyes that made her heart do somersaults in her chest. Damn that necklace of his that she kept for 2 years and 65 days, this was where she wanted to be, where she wanted to stay, until the day after eternity----on Vic’s side.
