Everything felt perfect. Right after he went home to Taipei, Vic immediately moved back to the Xu Residence like the old times. Needless to say, this was the first time in 2 years that he felt complete again.
“Barbie, I know it’s too early to ask..but I can’t wait much longer..” He practiced in front of the mirror.
“Ugggh...That’s so cheesy!” ZaiZai mentally scolded
Whoever said that acting wasn’t beneficial at all? Those romantic movies gave him the mushiest ideas that women love.
“Barbie..We’ve been through a lot..You might think I don’t deserve you anymore..”
“That’s not it!” He slapped his forehead
Xu MaMa peeked at his room’s door, curious of the weird statements he’d been reciting for the past 20 minutes.
“Zai..What are you doing?..”
“Uhmm..I’m just practicing...” He answered grinning
“You’re proposing to yourself?..” The woman failed to hide her laughter
“Ma...I’m thinking of possible ways on how to make Barbie agree into marrying me..” He confessed shyly
“I suggest you give her a big surprise..”
“A surprise that will give her the shock of her life..”
Vic smiled triumphantly, almost imagining her would-be reaction..
Next Morning
“Baby, Wake up and Fix Yourself..” He whispered into her ear
“But it’s Sunday today..” She said while eyes still shut
“Hurry..”
“Ok..I’ll go down after 30 minutes..”
30 minutes later
“Baby, where are we going?..” She asked as ZaiZai dragged her to the door
As soon as he opened it, flashes of cameras and hundreds of reporters placed the microphones in front of the newly reconciled couple
Barbie shot him a questioning glare as the man beside him just smiled and started his announcement
“Thank You For your support..to everyone who came here to witness the most important event of my life..I am forever grateful..2 years ago..I tried imagining myself living alone..living without her..and I thought I will be able to survive..Now, 2 years later, I may have everything in my life...but I know I am nothing without her by my side..”
For the second time in his life, he kneeled in front of her and recited the line which once made him the happiest man alive
“Barbie Xu, I’m not perfect..I'm not your white horse prince, I can’t promise you that the road ahead of us will be easy and smooth..but there’s one thing I’m sure of..”
She just smiled, remembering the first time he proposed to her
“When I’m with you, you make me want to believe that I deserve to be happy.” Barbie answered for him, The line that will be eternally etched in her heart.
The tears flowing in his eyes lovingly symbolized how blessed he had been to have her. Slowly and surely, he slid the ring on her finger and got up. But instead of hugging her or kissing her, he got the celphone from his pocket and dialled.
“Yes..Xu Ma..Please tell the priest he can come out already..”
The astounded look on Barbie’s eyes caused an uproar of excitement to all the mediamen present. A minute later, the priest emerged from the gate and went straight to the doorway and that certainly increased the nervousness she felt.
“We’re getting married today?..” She asked the obvious
“Yeah..I can’t wait much longer..” ZaiZai answered joyfully
“But I want a summer wedding..” Barbie tried whining
“I’ll marry you all seasons of the year..” He winked at her bride
“Ermm..Shall we..? The priest smilingly stopped the sweet talking
“Yes I Do. Father, I will love her until the day after forever..” ZaiZai answered
Barbie blushed. His excitement is exaggerated.
The priest laughed, watching the bride slap his groom’s arm
“How about Miss Bride?..”
“Yes I Do..I will love him..and serve him..until the day after forever..”
The promises were simple, but it came from the deepest chambers of their hearts. Every hurt they felt, every droplet of tears, both can honestly say it was all worth it.
“You may now kiss the bride..” The mediamen finished along with the priest
“I love you..Mrs.Vic Zhou..” Vic teased
“And I love you too..My Prince..” Barbie pulled him closer as she whispered
Just like how he did before, he kissed her ever so passionately, not losing to all the fairytales that had been told.
