FLASHBACK 1:
He thought that the Cartier Diamond Ring would burn a hole on his pocket. For a whole year, he kept it with him, fumbled for it as if trying to absorb every positive energy it emits. After all those setbacks and fear of rejection, he finally gathered up all kinds of courage available to ask her the question he’d been dying to ask since only God knows when.
“Baby, I’m not perfect..I'm not your white horse prince, I can’t promise you that the road ahead of us will be easy and smooth..but there’s one thing I’m sure of..” His eyes were misty as he was pouring all the love he felt for the woman
“When I’m with you, you make me want to believe that I deserve to be happy.” He got the ring on his pocket and kneeled on the cement ground, wanting to show his undying devotion and adoration to the woman who makes his life worth living
“So Barbie Xu Xi Yuan, are you willing to cook for me forever? Are you willing to spend forever with me?..Will you be my wife and marry me?”
She saw the tears trying to escape his eyes and right there and then, she knew it in her heart, he was the one to spend her “happily ever after” with
“Yes, I will marry you..Vic Zhou Yu Min..”She answered and offered her loving smile through her tears.
Hearing her answer, He slid on the ring on her finger and like a fairytale coming out of a storybook, he stood up and kissed her ever so passionately. He was right. Barbie Xu is the woman who makes his world go crazy.

FLASHBACK 2
A month after his proposal
“Baby, When are we going to tell them about our engagement?” She asked
It almost killed him to ask daringly “Can we put it on hold??”
This was the last thing she expected to hear from him
“But..why?” Trying to gasp a possible reason to give in to his request
Seeing that Barbie is waiting for the best explanation he can give, he held her close to him so she can’t walk away..
“Listen to me..I want us to have a secured life, I want to give you the best of everything you deserve. I have to work harder next year so I can give our children a better future. I already received the contract of my projects for 2008.My schedules are packed heavily..I’m afraid I can’t give you most of my time..Please trust me, Xi Yuan..I never intended to hurt you..”
“You just did Zai..” Slowly, she pushed him away, unashamed to show her agony
She started walking away as fast as her high heels could take her
“Baby, Wait” He quickly managed to grab her wrist
“Now, WHAT???” Her voice was raging with anger and pain
“Are you telling me we’re over?” All his frustrations and denials evident in his eyes
“I never asked you to give me all of your heart, but right now, you just made me feel that I can never be your priority in life..” She bit her lips to hold back the unwanted tears. How can a woman be so strong?
She must’ve been a masochist when she uttered “Let’s just be lifelong friends..”
END OF FLASHBACK
He gripped the picture tightly and crumpled it like a trash. Realization dawned on him as he wished solemnly to bring back their bittersweet past.
“Lord God..I’m begging you..” His voice was so weak, so defeated..
“Don’t make her fall in love with someone else..”
