His gloomy face was the only thing that’s negative in his surroundings. This place was supposed to be filled with his beautiful memories with Barbie. The majestic scenery of the man- made lagoon made him vulnerable and more regretful. He can’t seem to breathe. After witnessing Alan’s PDA as in Public Display of Admiration, he felt scared, so damn scared that he wanted to kill his rival. Not that he is expecting Barbie to stay single forever but this wasn’t just the right time for her to move on with her life, to carry on without him.
FLASHBACK
“Do you like this place?” He asked as he watched her expression beam with amazement
“Like it? I love it! The view is just..perfect.”She answered lovingly.
“Baby, you look like a child given a lollipop for the first tme..” He teased
She smiled at him and stucked out her tongue just like a real child
“Are we gonna hold our wedding reception here?” She asked
“Of course not..”
Barbie’s smile faded and it was replaced with a small frown
“But why?”
“Because right after the wedding, I’ll abduct you so I can have you all by myself.. ” He chuckled
His stupid reasoning earned him a hard head smack from Barbie. She pinched his cheek lightly and pulled him in for a sweet kiss which he gladly welcomed. His hands were caressing her smooth face as Barbie brought her hands in his neck. After what seemed like a lifetime or two, they pulled away with ragged breaths.
“You’re greedy, you know?..” She joked as ZaiZai touched his forehead with hers
He grinned from ear-to-ear as he pulled her again for another addictive kiss.
END OF FLASHBACK
“You’re not planning to jump off, are you?” Her voice brought him out reminiscing
He must’ve been so pitiful and desperate that God finally decided to turn his illusions into reality. Standing in front of him was Barbie. He waited for this moment to come. God, how he missed her. He had to blink his eyes twice only to make sure that she wasn’t just a fabrication of his wild imagination. The awkward atmosphere was unbearable for the both of them
“How are You?..” They both asked at the same time.
“I’m fine..Just like you..” Vic answered first
The coldness of the night made Barbie hug her body as she put on her light shawl. The constant chilly wind just increased her burden and nervousness that she felt at the moment .As ridiculous as it may sound, she felt so much worried for him when he went out of the hall..so much more than she’s entitled to feel so. And to heighten up the pitiful image, her high heels tormented her with every step she took as she tried to find him in every corners of the Hotel Garden.
“Yeah..just like me..” Barbie winced with one eye closed as she confirmed his answer.
“Are you okay?..” He felt concerned seeing her pained reaction
“My high heels are killing me..”
He led her to the bench and kneeled in front of her like he was professing his adoration. He took off her shoes and massaged Barbie’s sore feet. His actions brought unwanted tears in her eyes as she bitterly remembered the times when she thought they would last forever.
“I’m sorry..for hurting you..for making you believe that happy endings exist..” He said with his head still bowed down. He can’t look her in the eye because seeing her tears will make him wish that the earth will just split open so he could die because of his idiotic decision of letting her go.
“It exists, Zai..and I once thought I was enough to be your happy ending too..”
Damn. Her answer made him hate himself to the guts.
“Bie..will you fulfil your promise? You told me you’ll cook for me forever?..”It was dauntless of him to ask.
“Stop it.” She said as she stood up and took two steps backward when ZaiZai took a step trying to capture her in his arms. He forcefully pulled her into his arms where she had always belonged. Barbie tried to struggle out of his strong grip only to stop doing so when she felt a droplet of his tears on her bare shoulder.
“Please..” His voice was begging her. “Don’t make me feel that you don’t need me anymore..” His vulnerable and defenceless state made her knees go weak.
“I can’t be with you again..” She stated firmly as she bit her lips tightly to prevent her own tears
“Why not?..”
“Because..I’m in love with Alan Luo..”It took so much courage for her to hide her own feelings..her own heart.
Vic shook his head slowly as he loosened his grip on her, unable to believe her lie.
“I don’t believe you..” He felt so baffled as if someone knocked him out of his life.
Barbie tried to looked as composed as possible to convince him
“I’m not asking you to believe me..” Barbie turned her back on him and started walking away ignoring his call.
“I’m not backing off Barbie..I don’t care if Alan likes you..I will love you until it hurts no more..I can’t afford to be stupid again because my heart tells me that I’ll die if I let you go this time..”
Now, Hell would surely freeze over if someone blocks his way back to her.No one can..not even Alan Luo.
