Theme # 18 – A Delicate Rose for Your Beautiful Smile
‘Please…please be in there…’ JaeJoong chanted in his mind. He opened his eyes, revealing deep dark brown orbs and held his breath as he slowly opened his locker.

“Yunho oppa!”
The tall boy stopped in his tracks and slowly turned around to face a shy-giggling girl. He forced a smile and answered politely, “Good morning Seul Gi.”
Seul Gi bit her lower lip and stared up at him, her eyes shining with love. “Um-erm…here!” She bowed and held out a beautiful white rose.
Yunho blinked and carefully took it from her hand so the thorns wouldn’t prickle his fingers. He gave out a sigh and thanked her.
“Bye Yunho oppa!” Seul Gi giggled as she ran off with her crew.
He rolled his eyes as he turned back around in the direction he was going earlier. “Damn girls these days…” He growled under his breath. He shook his head and made his way to find his somewhat feminine friend. “Where is that boy…seesh!”
“That’s right…” He then snapped his fingers as he turned at a corner. He muttered to himself, remembering an earlier conversation with his friend. “He went to his locker to see if Se7en had given him…” His voice trailed off, as he looked up from the floor, finding a certain pretty face at the other end of the hallway.
“JaeJoong ah!” He ran over to his friend and gave him a warm smile. “How did it-”
“Leave me alone,” JaeJoong hissed and he walked passed Yunho, ignoring the other’s concern.
Yunho quickly spun around and grabbed JaeJoong’s hand. He threw his arm over the small boy’s shoulder. “What’s wrong with you?”
“And what’s wrong with you? The Jung Yunho I know doesn’t care what’s wrong with other people.”
“Of course I don’t care what’s wrong with other people! I only care what’s wrong with my Nerdy friend.”
“Right…” The smaller boy muttered. “That was before. Now you only care because I’m smart and so you could copy.”
Yunho made a cute pout. “How could you be so harsh?”
JaeJoong tried [key word: “TRIED”] to push Yunho’s arm away, but ended up only to have Yunho’s arm tightening his hold.
“You’re wrong you know.” Yunho leaned in close to JaeJoong. His warm breath tickled JaeJoong’s sensitive ear as he continued in a huskily voice. “I’ve always cared what about you. You just don’t know it because I don’t show it like I use to.”
“Whatever,” JaeJoong pushed Yunho’s arm again and finally succeeded this time. He stuck out his tongue before walking away.
‘He never changes…’ Yunho smiled but then frowned. ‘I wonder what happened earlier…’

“Are you going to tell me why you look…as if you’re going to kill someone?”
JaeJoong ignored the younger boy that was next to him and quickened his pace.
“Common!” Yunho pleaded in a sweet childish voice. “Pretty pwease?! With a chewwy on twop?”
“Stop it.”
Yunho stopped with his playful whining voice. “JaeJae?” He looked over at the pretty boy and placed a hand on his shoulder. “What’s wrong?”
“I said stop it!” JaeJoong moved Yunho’s hand and looked up at him.
Yunho blinked when he saw the tears that were threatening to fall. He rolled his eyes and grabbed JaeJoong’s hand.
“Yunho! Let go I’m serious!”
“Shut up and stop being stubborn. Just come with me and you’ll see.”

A fall chilly wind blew pass JaeJoong and Yunho.
JaeJoong frowned and rubbed his arms. “THIS?”
“Shut up and sit down.” Yunho pulled JaeJoong’s arm. “Come on!”
JaeJoong rolled his eyes and finally agreed to sit down on the swing.
“Seesh, talk about stubborn ass people.” Yunho muttered.
JaeJoong smiled silently to himself as he slowly started to swing.
Yunho looked over to the pretty boy next to him. “You know Jae, you can tell me anything.”
“I know…”
“Is it about…Se7en?”
JaeJoong stopped swinging and tightened his grip on the ropes of the swing. “It’s just that…I thought because he was all sweet and nice to me he’d like me too.”
Yunho felt his heart squeezed painfully. He jumped off his swing and pulled the small boy in his arms. He felt JaeJoong’s arms tightening around him. “I thought today…he’d also give me a rose too. Hahaha…I’m so dumb.” JaeJoong laughed bitterly and rested on Yunho’s chest, hiding a few tears that had already fallen, trickling down his cheek. “I was really dumb to think that he’ll feel the same way. It hurts Yunnie…it really hurts…”
Yunho rubbed JaeJoong’s back, cooing soft words in his ear. “Shhh, don’t cry Joongie. That dumb guy doesn’t deserve you. Anyways I didn’t even like that guy to tell you the truth. You can do much better than that.” He pulled back and wiped the tears away with his thumb. “One day, you’ll find the perfect guy. I just know it. No one could ever say ‘no’ to you. Even if they did, they’re just a bunch of fools.”
JaeJoong’s lips tug into a small smile. It was a small one, but still it was a real smile. “When did you start sounding all…sweet and caring?”
Yunho leaned his forehead against JaeJoong’s. “Since forever. You just never really took the time to realize it.”
“It’s because you tease me too much!”
“But you look adorable when you mad – I mean when you’re mad when I call you Short Midget… OW HEY!” Yunho winced and rubbed his arm. He looked at the smaller boy and if looks could kill…
JaeJoong glared at Yunho, his eyes held blazing fire in them. “I was beginning to think you were sweet. I guess not.”
Yunho chuckled. He leaned in close so that his face was only a few inches away. “I got a surprise for you. You’ll see it when you get home.” He spun around and walked away.
JaeJoong just stared at his back. “What? But WAIT! Yunho!”
Yunho waved his hand and continued walking away.
The feminine boy harrumphed and crossed his arms over his chest. ‘Damn that Jerk! He drags me here to the place where we first met last year and then he leaves.’
…
“I’m home…”
“Welcome home honey,” JaeJoong’s mother poked her head out from the kitchen. “You have a letter honey. I decided to put it on your desk in your bedroom.” ^^
“Oh- thanks. Who’s it from?” JaeJoong asked as he took off his shoes.
“Hmmm…I believe it only has your name on it probably from a secret admirer.” Mrs. Kim sighed dreamily. “How romantic…”
“Mom…please…”
Mrs. Kim laughed. “It is!”
JaeJoong giggled and headed towards his bedroom. Sure enough, on his desk, there was a light pink envelope with his name printed in neat cursive writing. However on top of the envelope was a beautiful silvery rose.
Suddenly knowing who had given him the letter and rose, JaeJoong quickly yet neatly opened the envelope.

Your famous “Yunho” here. I just wanted to give you this delicate rose [Not only did you want one, but then I also really wanted to give you one ^.^]. And in return I’d want to see that one beautiful smile, that you usually hide from me. ^_^ Gotta run!

JaeJoong hugged the letter and gently picked up the rose. He touched the soft petals and inhaled its sweet scent.

It was night already and the stars were coming out. The wind blew, and a young man rubbed his arms to keep warm. He grinned to himself as he walked pass JaeJoong’s house. “Finally…I get to see that beautiful smile of yours…”
