Silence.
Just mere trembling.
“I asked, what happened?” Jay raised his voice up a notch, the edge in his voice becoming even more pronounced and dangerous.
Silence.
The trembling turned into blood drops.
The man on the left had bit his lip so hard that it bled.
Jay. Was. Angry.
“I ASKED, WHAT HAPPENED?”
Both men flinched as Jay slammed his fist onto the hard table, the previously calm demeanor long gone.
“WHAT DID THE BOTH OF YOU DO?” Jay s’ eyes flashed with anger, his cheeks becoming flushed and white.
“We‘re sorry…” A whisper.
Jay turned sharply.
“You‘re sorry? Sorry?” Jay glared at the man for a moment before turning back to look out the glass windows.
“Get out.” Jay suddenly said, so softly that the two men had to strain their ears to hear him.
“Get out.” Jay repeated.
The two men exchanged brief looks of fear, the both of them hurriedly picking themselves up as they scuttered out of the room, relieved.
Jay waited for them to leave.
Then, he wearily sat down, the previously furious expression in his eyes now turning to resignation, his face slowly morphing into a blank sheet.
