Chapter 3

Sick

AN: Short and simple...

Bright lights emitted by the searing sun momentarily blinded him as he opened his eyes from his deep slumber. His head ached badly, his muscles tired and sore. He slowly sat up straight, wondering what had happened. The last thing he remembered was that he was at Dr. Shim's office from his prison cell for their weekly sessions to cure his... illness... He also distinctly remembered that Dr. Shim was telling him something about Eliza before his vision blurred and he fell into the darkness of oblivion.

Eliza...

Her name alone sent needles of pain to his heart. How much he wanted so badly to see her again, one last time, even just a peek, but according to Dr. Shim, he had to stay away from her. If he comes too close, he might endanger her life and a few more others’. And it’s better to know that she’s safe and happy with Yunho and suffer the torment of not seeing her, than to bring any form of harm to her.

Curse this illness of his.

Shaking his head and concentrating to the current situation he was in, he looked up and was alarmed to see that there wasn't any roof hanging above him. He looked around... He wasn’t in Dr. Shim’s office, nor was he in his cell... In fact he wasn't any place he was familiar with. He figured he was on a rooftop of a building. He looked down and became more alarmed with what he saw... blood.

Dried blood heavily stained his shirt, pants and arms. "Oh no... Please no..." he murmured more to the sky than himself.

He snapped his head around and around, his worst fear slowly becoming reality. A bloody trail starting from where he was standing guided his eyes to wander to a bloody axe laid on one corner… along with a large mass of an unrecognizable thing that looked a lot like... like...

His insides churned and his world began to spin as his face turned ghostly white. There she was, on the corner of the rooftop, her entire body bathing in dried blood and her legs... her legs... amputated...

"Oh my god..." he breathed out. He rushed to her, ignoring his spinning vision and throbbing head, hoping against all hope that she was still alive, still breathing. But no such luck. A medicine student like him knows with one look whether a person is alive or dead. And the woman with amputated legs bathing in her own blood was certainly not alive.

He picked her rigid body, alarmed at the coldness of her skin, and stared at her slightly blue face. "Oh my god..." his voice barely coming out from his mouth as he gently touched her face. "Eliza... Eliza! What have I done to you?! ELIZA!!!"

An ear-splitting scream ripped out from his chest, as he hugged the body tightly down and broke down in pain and grief.
