Jeremy was working at his desk when a shadow covered part of his paperwork. He looked up to see who it was “Timmy?” it was the teenager that he’s been trying to help for the past month. When the kid stopped coming to the session, he assumed he didn’t need anymore help.

“Can I talk to you?” he looked like a frightened puppy that just ran away from the pound.

“Sure have a seat.” He said as he pointed to the chair in front of him.

“No, I want to talk to you in private.” He whispered as he looked around at the other people making sure that they didn’t hear him.

Jeremy looked around and found an empty office “Of course, come with me.” He motioned for Timmy to follow him in the sound proof conference room. “Now what seems to be the matter?”

“I…I…” he stuttered as he wrung his fingers together on the table. “Promise you won’t tell anyone.”

Jeremy smiled “You know the rules here, we keep all the conversations to ourselves. Think of me as the priest, what do you have to confess?” he knew Timmy was a good kid that he wouldn’t do anything wrong. He guessed it was probably stealing or smoking and he was caught by his parents.

“I killed a person.” He said bluntly.

Cold chills ran down Jeremy’s back as he let the words soak in. “You what?” he didn’t want to believe what he just heard.

“You remember that kid that was picking on me?” Jeremy nodded with a blank expression on his face “Well, I was walking home one day and I usually cross this alley to get to my home. He followed behind and started beating me with a stick. I tried to fight back but he was too strong for me. I found a dirty knife on the ground and I stabbed him with it…I didn’t mean to kill him. I just wanted him to stop hitting me!” Timmy started crying as he explained the horrifying story. “You have to help me.”

Jeremy looked at the kid as he shook his head “I can’t do anything to help you. You need to go to the police, they have to know about the body.”

“NO!!” Timmy got up as he shook his head vehemently “NO! They’ll take me to jail and kill me!! No, I can’t.”

Jeremy spoke calmly “That’s the only way, Timmy. They won’t be too harsh since it was only man slaughter, you were just trying to protect yourself. I’ve got a great lawyer friend that can really help you.”

Timmy got up from his seat as he backed away towards the door “I came to you because I thought you would understand. How could you?” his eyes were glossy as he shook his head.

“Please let me help you.” Jeremy tried again as he stepped closer to the boy.

“Get away from!! You’re not going to help me! You’re just going to turn me in!!” suddenly he pulled his backpack that he was carrying in front of him “I knew you were turn on me.” Unzipping the bag as he pulled out a blood stained butcher knife.

Jeremy’s eyes opened wide as his heart began to thump faster “What are you doing?”

“Shut up!” he walked closer to Jeremy while he backed away until he was against the wall.

“Timmy, you don’t want to do this.” He tried to stay calm but the knife was waving in front of his face.

“I already killed one person, what’s wrong with another person?” his eyes looked mad as he pulled his hand back “Die!” he cried before driving his butcher knife into his left rib.

“Ahhh!!” the contact of the sharp utensil and his bone crushing was as painful as it got. The wound would have been deeper if it wasn’t for the fact that he tried to hold Timmy’s hand back. Maybe his cry was so loud or maybe someone saw the horrific scene because the door swung open.

Timmy immediately pulled Jeremy to his feet because he was beginning to slide down the ground. “Get up!!” he cried and placed the knife on his neck “Get away or I’ll kill him!!”

“Call the police.” The office manager whispered to one of the employees “Don’t hurt him, please he’s innocent.” He said trying to calm the kid down.

“Get out!!” Timmy yelled as everyone began to back away. Jeremy was holding onto his bleeding wound as he tried hard to focus but the pain was unbearable. Eventually, Timmy linked his own arm through Jeremy’s and dragged him outside to the elevator. A huge crowd was growing as they surrounded the kid. “You come closer and I’ll kill him!!” he was going crazy. The elevator came as he dragged Jeremy inside. Blood dripping as it made a trail along the carpet.

Jeff and his group were discussing concepts of suicides when they heard over the intercom of a kid holding someone hostage, the victim was wounded on the rib cage, bleeding dangerously. “Oh my God…” Jeff realized the address was his best friend’s office. “Lets go!” he commanded and everyone got up. They sped to the scene and found everyone in the building being evacuated to the bottom floor. The building was only ten stories but it was still high enough to kill someone.

Joanne was still at home resting when she received a call from Jeremy’s office. She hung up the phone and rushed out the door to her brother’s new office. She silently prayed that he would be alright. When she got there, the scene before her made her panic even more. She spotted Jeff with the team, it looked like he was trying telling them what to do “Jeff!!” she cried out and ran to him.

“Jo, what are you doing here? Why aren’t you at home resting?” he scolded.

“My brother, where is he?”

Jeff pointed towards the rooftop “The last time I heard, the teenager dragged him upstairs. You stay down here, its too dangerous.”

“No, Im going with you!!” she said stubbornly.

“Its okay Lai Sir, I’ll watch over her.” Deana offered as she supported Joanne with her arms wrapped around her teammate’s shoulder.

“Okay, come on.” He pushed his way through the crowd and up the elevator.

“Go away or I’ll kill him!!” Timmy cried out at the policemen who followed him up there.

Virginia heard of the commotion and spotted a kid dragging someone. She didn’t realize it was Jeremy until one of his associates mentioned his name. She took the side stairwell that led the rooftop. It took seven stories to get up there so she was breathless by the time she reached the top. “Who are you, get down stairs!!” the policeman cried angrily, he didn’t want to have to worry about another person.

“Im…Dr. Chan…suicidal department on the third floor.” She said “I can help.” She added when the two uniformed policemen looked at each other. “He won’t calm down if you two are here.”

“Lai Sir is coming with his team. We’ll just stay by the elevator.” He whispered to his partner. “Be careful.”

“Thank you.” She said graciously, she worked better when the cops weren’t there. She turned to the boy with the knife still at Jeremy’s throat. He looked pale as she noticed his pants and half of his shirt were stained with blood. She prayed that he would live through this. “Can you tell me why you have hurt him?” she started as she took a step closer.

“He was going to turn me in!” Timmy said as he pulled Jeremy closer to him, they inched back towards the edge.

“I just wanted to help you, Timmy.” Jeremy whispered, using his strength to talk.

“What happened Timmy?” Virginia asked as she used her soothing tone of voice.

“I killed someone, but I didn’t want to!! I really didn’t” he shook his head sadly “If he wouldn’t have picked on me!” he looked up at Virginia trying to convince her “I didn’t mean to.”

“Okay, I believe you. But look at Mr. Hung.” She nodded to Jeremy “You hurt him on purpose. See his wound? He’s going to bleed to death if you don’t let him go.”

“I don’t care, he tried to turn me in.” he said stubbornly.

“Did he say he was going to turn you in?” she asked smartly.

The boy seemed to think it over “No, but he said that he would get a lawyer for me.”

“He’s getting a lawyer for because he doesn’t want you to go to jail. The lawyer can help bail you out of jail and he could win the case for you. It can still be okay if you would just let him go.” She tried.

Timmy began to debate with himself, he was beginning to lower the knife when the elevator door opened and out came Jeff, Deana and Joanne. “Dai Lou!!” she cried as she charged towards them.

Jeff pulled her back with his arm as he held her tightly, he knew his friend’s life was already in danger. “Don’t, he’ll kill your brother if you make any sudden moves.” He whispered.

Deana stepped closer until she was next to Virginia “What’s his name?” she whispered.

“Timmy.” Virginia replied never moving her eyes away from the boy.

“Timmy? What do you want us to do?” Deana asked.

“Just leave me alone.” He said tiredlessly. He wasn’t the only one that was tired as Jeremy fell to his knees.

“Gor!!” Joanne cried but Jeff’s gripped tightened around her arms. Tears streaming down her face, she was scared for her brother’s life. “Please let him go.” She begged through gulps.

“Im taking him with me.” Timmy said sadly.

“No!” Deana cried as she watched him pull back the knife ready to stab at Jeremy one more time. In the spur of the moment, she had no idea what else to do. She leaped towards them and blocked the knife going down halfway. As soon as the knife had contact with her skin, she yanked her arm back.

The kid didn’t expect her to use her arm to block the stab, he jumped back startled by Deana. “What are you doing?”

“Please don’t hurt yourself or others.” She said, her eyes pleading as she stared at the kid. He looked even more scared then before.

Virginia noticed the kid was backing too close to the edge “Timmy watch out!” she cried.

His foot gave way as he toppled over the 3 inch edge. She made a leap for it as she felt her body crushing against the cement painfully, but her hand caught Timmy’s hand. Jeff was close behind as she felt his strong arms wrap around her waist stopping her body from dragging against the weight of Timmy’s body.

Joanne ran to her brother and Deana “Gor! You okay?” she asked. He smiled weakly as he tried to nod his head, eventually he fainted into her arms. “Ambulance, I need the ambulance…” she was panicking.

“I’ll call them.” Deana offered as she ran to the elevator calling for help.

“Let me go!!” Timmy cried as he struggled from Virginia’s tight grasp.

“No! Im not letting you die like this.” She cried. He was trying to wriggle from her fingers and after a few seconds, she felt him slipping from her. “Jeff!! He’s slipping!!” she said frantically.

“Hold on.” Jeff said as he crawled slowly to the edge. He used his body to hold Virginia in place as he moved up the side of her body. “Sorry, Im not trying to take advantage of you.” He apologized.

“This is no time to say those things!” She said harshly. “Hurry!!” she felt her grip loosening. When Jeff’s hand finally reached Timmy’s, it slipped from Virginia’s grasp “No!!” she cried as her hand tried to catch him again.

“I got him!” Jeff said as he arched his back and took a little leap grabbing Timmy’s arm. After he got a hold of his wrist, it took him a little bit of strength to pull him up.
