Azariah rested against the bed of blue clouds in Jeroham’s quarters. She spent most of her days there and it seemed Serefina did not disagree. She was staring intently at Ahron’s resting face “Jeroham?”

“Yes, oh curious one.” He answered in a mocking tone while concentrating on the golden book.

“Why is Ahron still unconscious?” she questioned.

“He is not. The light is blindingly white, he cannot awaken until Serefina destines his next dimension.” He explained calmly.

Azariah turned to him with curious eyes “Why do you know so much?”

This made Jeroham pause as he turned to her “Because I am the God of Life. If there is no Life, there is no existence.”

She smiled “What do you mean by that girl is I?”

“Why, what are you talking about?” he returned to his work.

Azariah sat up as she narrowed her eyes dangerously at him “You have already told me too much, what is another secret? Please, I want to know.” She begged while wistfully flying over to him “Is she my mortal body? Does a person appearance change once they become a God? Does she know that she is I? Is her importance in Ahron’s life crucial?”

“It is a wonder I have yet to become a deranged maniac from all your questioning.” Jeroham scolded lightly “I should have not said it.”

“But you did. Now tell me!” she whined.

He nodded reluctantly “Alright, this will not leak out of this room.” He warned her with a finger and she nodded vigorously “What I meant to say was that she is like you. And myself along with all the other Gods in the Heavens.” Jeroham’s explanation put her in a further state of confusion “She is a God…just like you and I. But she does not know it yet.”

“Does he know this?”

He shook his head “No.”

“Well--” Azariah began.

“No!” Jeroham shook his head firmly.

“But—”

“NO!” he cried “Now return to your love. He should be waking very soon.” He waved her towards the crystal ball. Azariah knew when she was defeated as she shifted back to the image of Ahron in the crystal balls.

**************

Ahron’s body naturally tensed when he was pushed through another force, his eyes still pressed together. It seemed difficult to open them. It wasn’t until he heard a soft beckoning voice that he fluttered his eyes open. He was faced with a girl with big eyes and a bigger smile. The kind of smile that made a person’s heart fluttered if they were in love. He tilted his head strangely at her “Aaron, you’re awake.”

Aaron? That was his name, yes, it came to him. But who was this girl “Where am I?” the minute he asked, a silver dog like robot pounced on him. Panicking, he pushed the little barking nuisance aside while looking extremely frightful.

The girl laughed at his reaction and came to his rescue. She picked the dog up as if it was a real dog “I forgot you don’t like RD-4, only real dogs.” She placed the dog outside the office. He pushed himself from the ground and observed his surrounding. He was in a high rise building, it looked to be his office. No, it was hers. She frowned at him strangely “Aaron, are you alright? You seem a bit out of it, but who could blame you? All that stressful nights at work, I would have collapsed too.”

He nodded blankly while stepping closer to the glass window, they were high above the clouds. A human naked eye could not see the ground, but he could see it. Made out of complete disposals, as if it was a huge trash bin “What year is this?” he asked suddenly.

The girl turned to him with a worried look “2520. If you ask another question like that, I’m going to personally fly you over to the Hospital.” There was a teasing tone in her voice.

“The future…” he muttered. Suddenly, a huge black flying scooter approached the window at lightning speed “Duck!!” Ahron cried as he made a leap to the ground pushing the girl down with him.

She laughed hysterically at the look on his face “What is the matter with you? You’re acting like a person from the past. It’s just a telegram.” She straightened her suit and signed it through the glass. He watched in amazement as a circular piece of the glass slid to the side and allowed her to take the telegram “Thanks.” She nodded to the mail guy as he flew off in the opposite direction.

“Who is it?” he asked. Still he did not recall her name.

“It’s Ross, he’s coming back tomorrow.” She let out a short sigh.

Ahron need answers “Who is he?”

She turned to him with wide eyes “Okay, now you’re scaring me. Ross is my boyfriend. Aaron, who am I? Tell me or I will take you to the hospital for examination.” she threatened.

He turned his back to her, his eyes closed as he tried to summoned the last bit of information. And then it occurred to him “I know!” he spun around while she smiled “You’re my best friend since grade school…you’re…Natalie.”

She let out a long sigh of relief “Thank goodness! I thought you had lost your memory or something. Then I wouldn’t know how to explain to your wife.”

“My wife?” he dazed away again.

“Maybe you hit your head too hard?” Natalie questioned.

Suddenly, the door burst open and appeared a fretful girl dressed in a sloppy pair of jeans and an old t-shirt that was too big for her. Her hair tousled and her face free of make up “Aaron!” she rushed over to him “I came as soon as Natalie called me.”

Assumption told him she was his wife “Zoey?” she didn’t seem to catch the question tone in his voice.

“Why did you collapse? You had me so worried!” she was close to exploding into tears.

He stole a glance at Natalie and realized she was watching them with an envious look. Aaron patted Zoey on the shoulder “I’m okay now. Don’t worry.”

“Why don’t you take the day off?” Natalie suggested “Since Zoey’s already here.”

“Thanks Nat! Aaron is so lucky to have a boss like you.” She was grateful for the understanding girl. She led Aaron out of the office and into the parking structure on the 50th floor “I guess it helps when you have a best friend as your boss.” She said quietly while driving a car without wheels, just a big motor that allowed them to fly wherever they pleased. He was clutching on the car door handles for dear life.

“I guess.” He muttered. He felt awkward with Zoey, who was supposed to be his wife. Yet, he was more in tune with Natalie. Feelings told a lot, he knew too well.

“I found it.” Zoey was gripping on the handle, her eyes glued to the sky before them.

Ahron turned to her strangely “Found what?”

“The letters you wrote to her but never gave them to her.” She looked saddened and for a minute he felt guilty “I was cleaning out the house and found it. I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have invaded your privacy but I read one and then another until I finished all fifty eight of them.”

He was silent as the information came swarming into his mind. He was in love with Natalie but married Zoey because she had fallen for him and he pitied her. But he did not love her. They were only married for a short period of time. One month to be exact. They came upon a dome like object that was sitting on a metal pole shooting through the clouds. She parked the car in a port that opened at her word of command “That was a long time ago, it doesn’t mean anything now.”

Zoey led him through a tunnel like cave, which was lighted by one florescent light. It took them into the living room. It was homey and very comfortable but he felt awkward, like he didn’t belong there “If it doesn’t mean anything, then why did you keep those letters?”

“For memory.” It was the wrong answer as he watched her cover her quivering lips “I’m sorry.” He quickly said but the damage had been done.

She stepped away with her hand up “No…I should be sorry. I shouldn’t have cleaned the house, then maybe I wouldn’t find those letters. Tell me, Aaron. Why did you marry me?”

“Because I love you.” He smiled warmly but inside there was no emotional connection to the girl that was suppose to be the love of his life. At that very moment he realized she was a splitting image of Chou Yee, but it was impossible.

Tear stained face, Zoey looked at him in utter pain “You have never said that word to me before. But you would say it so that I would not be suspicious of your feelings for Natalie?” Ahron looked at her confusingly “You are still in love with her.” She said flatly.

“Don’t be absurd!” he laughed it off.

“Is it?” she questioned “Then why haven’t you kissed me since the day we got married?” Her question threw him off even more. Why didn’t he? She seemed to be reading his mind “I know how much you love kids but…but we can’t have any if…” she trailed off leaving him in dismay.

“I’m just not ready.” He made an excuse “This conversation is done, I’m going to bed.” He walked down another tunnel but came across three doors. Realizing the bedroom was on the left, he place a hand on the door and it slid opened. He stepped into the room and realized it was his room but she did not stay with him. He turned to the door and watched her pass him by “Where are you going?”

Zoey stood at the door “You told me that you needed space so I am staying in the next room. How could you even ask me that?”

The door closed in front of her while Ahron slumped down onto the mattress set on the ground. "I’m a horrible husband. Why?” he turned to the ceiling “I don’t want to be like this.” Visions invaded his mind as he closed them. He saw his wedding, it was short and very emotionless. Zoey looked plain in white, her smile was real but his was not. He stole too many glances at Natalie who was amazing in a beautiful olive dress. Next to her was a man who was perfect in every way. Poise, handsome, tall and he adored her but she never gave him one look.

As he laid down in bed, he realized that this test would not be easy as the last. From each minute passing in the foreign land he realized the feelings were growing stronger. Thoughts of Natalie erupted his mind while faces of Zoey were nowhere in sight. Her only advantage was the fact that she looked like Chou Yee and he adored the girl.

He was restless, turning on the mattress that seemed to mold to his body figure. Ahron heard a strange beeping sound but couldn’t detect where it was coming from. He turned to his right where a short table sat, the center opened and a round silver ball appeared. He was no longer frightened by the strange futuristic objects. The ball opened and shot out a colorful light, which merged into a face. It was hers “Natalie?”

She smiled “I see you can’t sleep either.”

“Is something wrong?” he asked. Strange how concern came so easily to her while with Zoey he couldn’t even sputter out a word of comfort.

Natalie smiled through the pain “You can always tell. Ross asked me to marry him.”

Ahron sat upright “What? Only after three months? Is he crazy?”

“You’re the one to talk. One day, you come in for a job interview, the next you tell me that you are engaged.” She laughed despite how much she wanted to tell him the truth “I don’t know what to tell him…”

“Tell him no.” Ahron replied without thinking. He quickly stopped himself but it seemed his lips had a mind of it’s own “Tell him you are in love with someone else.”

Natalie lowered her head with a feeble smile “I thought you didn’t know. Why can’t two people that are in love be together?”

“Because life isn’t that fair to begin with.” Ahron said sadly.

“It’s getting late, I should go before Ross realizes that I’m missing.” It was a hint as to where she was, he could tell she told him on purpose.
