Fei Hung led Ahron into the city of Guang Chow, hoping that someone would have seen Chow Yee passing by. According to his estimation, she was due to be in the city at that time. Ahron took a seat at the restaurant they stopped to eat “Order anything as you please, this meal is my treat.”

“No, master. I cannot do that, I should be treating you.” Fei Hung insisted.

Ahron smiled “With the one ounce of silver in your pocket? That is not enough to pay for this meal.”

“How…how did you know?” he wrinkled his brows curiously.

“I have incredible vision.” Ahron replied solemnly causing Fei Hung’s eyes to bulge out even more “I kid you! When I saved you earlier, your money bag fell out and I picked it up for you. I took a peek inside if you don’t mind.”

Fei Hung laughed in relief “Is that all? I truly believed you there for a second.”

The two quickly ordered their food while Ahron continued with the questions about this mysterious girl named Chow Yee “I have a question.” Fei Hung acknowledged it with a nod “How do you know she will be in this town?”

“It is quite embarrassing.” He smiled nervously “But if you promise not to repeat this, I will tell you.”

“You have my word.” Ahron nodded firmly.

Fei Hung twisted the teacup in his hand “I have not actually met her in person, but after hearing the rumors and news about her during my travel. I became infatuated with her. In a sense, I am in love with a person that I have never met. The wonderful stories that were told by the people captivated me. I left my town, not to bring back prestigious to my family but to search for her. I have followed her trail and noticed that once a year, she will stop by Wah San to speak to the leader Man Ga Yiu.”

“You have never met her within the five years of trying to join the Wah San Sect?” Ahron grew curious of the peculiar man.

“I always seem to miss her by a day or two.” He sighed sadly “Maybe it is not fate that we shall ever meet.”

“What a shame.” Ahron shook his head.

Fei Hung tilted his head “Why so?”

“A perfectly decent man has fallen into the arms of the word love. Five years is a long time to be infatuated with a person you have never met. I predict you will be very disappointed after meeting Chow Yee.” Ahron reached for his chopsticks when the food arrived.

“How so? I have never met her, which means I have no expectation.” He defended her reputation “It does not matter what she looks like, I am infatuated with her personality.”

“But you cannot say that because you have never met her personally. Maybe she is a wart face woman that has scars all over her arms and walks with a limp? We do not know.” Ahron was teasing Fei Hung but he grew angry with each insult “People have the tendency to build up a person but when you meet them in the flesh, it is nothing but pure disappointment. I beg you not to think of her further.”

Fei Hung was about to open his mouth in fury when he heard a light giggle from the table behind him. Upset that a person was eavesdropping on their conversation, he turned to the girl in the blue “Do you not know any manners? It is rude to be listening to other people’s conversation.”

The girl turned to face them “I apologize, but I must agree with your friend. He has made quite a good point.” Her smile was pure and her eyes teasing.

“It is a useless point! The rumors come from great evidence and from the people that have met the Fortune Teller in person. I will believe what I will believe!” he finished and turned back to Ahron, who was staring intently at the girl “Master, what is it?”

He shook his head slowly “Nothing.” He nodded to the food “It is getting cold, come let us eat. We do not need to speak with strangers.”

The girl smiled with a shrug of her shoulders “Enjoy, gentlemen.” Getting up, she left behind some money on the table and left with her black sword in her hands.

“The nerve of some people.” Fei Hung grumbled while caving the food into his mouth.

“Do you want to meet Chow Yee?” Ahron asked unexpectedly.

Fei Hung almost choked on his food “You know her? Why haven’t you told me? I am shocked at you master, even after learning how much I admire—”

“If you keep talking, she will have left the town.” Ahron said calmly.

He stuffed the rest of the bowl into his mouth and said incoherently “Well, what are you waiting for? We have to find her.”

Ahron laughed, “What an impression you will have made on her.” He paid for the food and followed Fei Hung. He turned to Ahron impatiently “You might want to swallow the food before you meet her.”

Fei Hung nodded as he chewed as fast as his teeth would allow him “Where is she?”

Ahron’s eyes traveled amongst the crowd until he caught sight of the girl in blue “She’s headed outside of town. Come on.”

They followed her to a road leading straight into a forest. Fei Hung came into step with Ahron “I do not see anyone.”

“She is here.” He assured the anxious guy. Suddenly, they heard a calling for help from a male voice. Ahron turned to his left “Someone needs help.” Fei Hung nodded as they followed the voice and eventually found a man hung upside down from a tree. A rope around his right ankle, it seems he was caught in a trap.

Fei Hung saw the girl that rudely interrupted him at the restaurant. She stood staring at the man crying for help, her eyes hardened. She made no attempt to help him, instead she began walking away “I did not know the famous Fortune Teller, Chow Yee was a coward person who would not help a stranger in need.” Ahron dared.

“What?” Fei Hung turned to Ahron “Master, did you call her Chow Yee?”

“If I am wrong, please, correct me.” He said with a slight bow at the beautiful girl.

Chow Yee snickered “If you know who I am, why should I correct you?”

“Chow Yee?!” Fei Hung stepped closer to have a better look “It is really you? You are as beautiful as the rumors say. Although words are no comparison to the real person in front of my eyes.”

She smiled at the kind words “Thank you for the compliment. I must warn you that you should not help that man.” She pointed to the guy dangling from the tree.

“Anything you say.” Fei Hung replied in a heartbeat.

“Another sad soul blinded by love.” Ahron sighed sadly. He bent over and picked up a rock, he bounced it in the palm of his hand and on the third catch, he shot it towards the rope. The speed of the throw was fast enough to cut through the strands. The man stopped the crash with his hands as he pulled off the rope from his leg and thanked Ahron profusely.

“Why must you disregard her warning?” Fei Hung asked him.

“She has no reason to control what I chose to do.” Ahron challenged, he stepped closer to the girl “Or do you?”

Chow Yee stared at him strangely, she was usually able to see the future of a person after fifteen seconds of staring at them in the eye. It was why she didn’t want to save the man, he was to have a horrific death that very night. Keeping him tied up would salvage his life. But with Ahron, she didn’t see anything “I do not. But according to my calculations, that man will die tonight at midnight. Robbed of his life in a deep sleep. I did not want him to die, that is why I did not want to help him.”

Fei Hung spun towards Ahron “I told you she had her reasons! Now you have caused a life to end!”

Ahron smiled, not bothered by his outburst “If it is written in the stars, there is absolutely nothing you or I can do to stop it. If we do not help him, there will be another that will cross his path and be kind enough to let him go.” Chow Yee turned her head away, she didn’t want to admit that he was right “Am I right, Chow Yee the Fortune Teller?”

“You have your reasons and I have mine.” She said shortly “It is a pleasure to have met you.” She said to Fei Hung “But I must be on my way.”

“Will we meet again?” he asked eagerly. Chow Yee smiled secretively but didn’t answer. Instead she turned and walked along one of the three paths. Fei Hung waved with a dazed expression on his face “She smiled at me…” he sighed dreamily.

Ahron shook his head “There is no cure for love, my friend. I beg you not to get attached, she is not your type.”

“Whatever do you mean?” Fei Hung asked curiously. Widening his eyes, he quickly guessed, “You are a Fortune Teller too!” he exclaimed with a pointed finger “Is that why you said that man is meant to die?”

“No, I am not.” Ahron laughed while taking another path.

“Yes you are one. I know it!” he was positive of his observation “Please tell me, master. How do you do it? Will I meet her again? And what is in store for my future?”

“If I tell too much, the Gods will punish me.” Ahron replied coolly.

“But it is a gift given to you by a God, surely they will not give you something to be unused.” He reasoned.

Ahron paused as he turned to allow Fei Hung to catch up “In a manipulative way, you do have a point.” He crossed his arms and stared at Fei Hung with intense eyes.

“What do you see?” Fei Hung whispered.

“That you will become the future Wah San Sect leader and marry the daughter of Man Ga Yiu.” Ahron said.

Fei Hung narrowed his eyes dangerously “That is not funny.” Ahron burst into chuckles as he walked on and shook his head “You know I despise the girl, she is rude and spoiled. I will never fall for her. After all, I am in love with Chow Yee.” He quickly followed Ahron.

“Never say never.” Ahron warned “Do you know, the more you ask for something the more it will not happen? The Gods will always give you what you do not wish for.”

“Why?” Fei Hung questioned “Is it not their jobs to keep us happy?”

“If everyone is happy, there will be no more pain and suffering. If happiness surrounds us, there is no need for humans. They are a challenge to the Gods, to be able to conform them into living their lives as moral as possible.” Ahron explained.

“How do you know so much and not be a Fortune Teller?” he asked with much curiosity.

Ahron stopped in front of an abandoned temple “Ah, that is the question is it not?” he pointed to the empty place “We shall stay here for the night.”

“What are we doing tomorrow?” Fei Hung began making a bed of hay for the two of them.

“Beginning your future.” Ahron smiled “You have approximately ten days until the annual Wah San Sect competition. I will train you until you are prepared to win the competition.”

Fei Hung laughed at the absurd idea “Ten days will not be enough for me to improve. I am not a born talent when it comes to training martial arts.”

“Do you not want your family to be proud?” Ahron asked in shock.

“Of course I do. But it is practically impossible for me to be able to win a competition with only ten days of training. I have been doing this for five years and still have not won one competition.”

“That is before you met me.” Ahron said with confidence as he settled in his bed of hay “Now rest, you need it for tomorrow.”

Fei Hung had a wonderful dream that that night. He saw Chow Yee again. She too was secretly in love with him, they were about to spend their first kiss together when he felt a splash of cold water on his face “Ah!!” he sat upright drenched with water.

Ahron threw the bucket aside and crouched down on his legs “Great! Now that you are awake, let’s start the training. Here put on some new clothes.” He tossed them on Fei Hung’s lap and walked out.

He wiped his face with the palm of his hand “Just one more minute…” he grumbled. Fei Hung quickly dressed as he walked outside to where Ahron stood.

“Here.” He tossed him a branch he broke off from a tree, it was stripped from leaves “Now, show me what you have learned so far.”

Fei Hung pulled the pretend sword in a stance as he nodded at Ahron “Master, forgive me!” he attacked Ahron with a whipping motion. Ahron didn’t need to use his hands as he dodged Fei Hung with side steps and kicks of the hand. He ended the silly fight with a sidekick at his hand, leaving Fei Hung weaponless.

Ahron sighed, “A little kid can beat you. I did not even use my arms.” He crossed his arms “We have a lot of work to do.” And so the tough training started that morning. It followed every day at dawn with the same thing, a splash of cold water since it was impossible to wake Fei Hung up in the morning. By the seventh day, he was improving, even waking up on his own. Ahron looked like a proud father as he watched Fei Hung practice the sword fighting techniques with a tree as his opponent. He had a lot of potential but never found the strive to work on it and do better. The clumsy strokes were replaced with smooth and perfect strikes. The stance was straight and his kicks were higher than five feet off the ground.

By the tenth day, Ahron came in to wake Fei Hung “I missed using the water to wake you.” He teased.

“I do not.” Fei Hung quipped with a laugh “How do I thank you, master?”

“You can thank me by not calling me master. I did not do anything for you. I only taught you the basics and you have the knowledge of the Wah San Sect martial arts in your mind. I only helped you perfect it.” Ahron handed him the new clothes he bought especially for Fei Hung “Put this on.” It was a navy blue outfit that was fit together by a matching belt, white stitches traveled along the hem line of the front flap and back. It made him look important and not to mention handsome.
