It was around 5pm when the two finally returned home. They found Tyler and Tara studying at the table while Vicki and Mr. Yung were talking to each other “Wow, it’s like the Adam’s Family reunion.” Ivy snickered as she kicked off her shoes and plopped on the couch. She rubbed her feet “It hurts…I think I may never walk again.”
“The floors would be happy to hear that.” Tyler teased.
“What’s in the bag?” Vicki asked curiously when she noticed Ben dropping about ten bags onto the floor before taking a seat.
Ivy shrugged casually “Clothes…Ben took me shopping today.”
“Really?” Tyler asked, his attention caught as he popped from his seat and hurdled over the couch to the bags “This I gotta see!”
Ivy turned to Tara “Sorry…apparently, he’s still gay.”
Tara laughed as she got up and walked over to the group “He’s just excited for you.” She said in Tyler’s defense.
“Next, he’s gonna ask me if he can try on my clothes.” Ivy said sarcastically.
“Oh my gosh…it’s a skirt!!” Tyler pulled out the first outfit Ivy tried on and bought.
She pulled the skirt from his hands “Don’t dirty it with your paws…this is my favorite one.”
Vicki covered her mouth “Oh my God…she’s a girl.” She whispered.
Tara giggled “I guess every girl has shopping in their blood.”
“That explains Tyler love for the sport.” Ivy quipped.
“Try it on!” Tyler pulled out the matching top as he shoved it at his sister “I want to see.”
“No.” Ivy said calmly declining his offer.
“Please?? Pretty please??” Tyler clasped his hands together and pleaded.
“Pretty?” Ivy asked “Oh, for sure I’m not trying it on now.”
“Aww, come on!!” Tyler argued.
Ben smiled at the two as they went back and forth. Mr. Yung looked at the young man with admiration “How do you do it?”
“Magic, I guess.” He said.
Ivy narrowed her eyes at him “Ever heard of the word humble?” Ben nodded with a grin “You should try doing it sometimes.”
Tyler shook his head in disagreement “Actually, Ben has every reason to be smug. He got you to like shopping…to use make up, to cut your hair and to do your nails. If you ask me, it’s nothing short of a miracle. We should call him a God.”
“Who asked you, gay boy?” Ivy snapped.
Ben laughed “Tyler’s just being honest. But since I have all of you here. Why don’t you guys help Ivy with her next lesson.”
“What is it? How to be nice?” Tyler snickered only to be jabbed in the ribs by Ivy’s elbow.
“Yes!” Ben pointed as he stood up and nodded to Tara and Tyler to come up with him “Come join me on the stage.”
Vicki leaned into Ivy’s ear as she commented, “Someone should tell him we’re in an apartment not a theatre.”
“Oooh, can I? Can I?” Ivy raised her hand and the girls burst into giggles with Mr. Yung shaking his head at them. She cleared her throat and moved her attention to the three huddled in the front “Do we have any popcorn?” She asked Vicki “Looks like it’s gonna be a long show.”
Ben clapped his hands “Okay!” he took a seat next to Mr. Yung “Tyler and Tara will demonstrate some everyday courtesy. The setting: Marketplace. Action!” he snapped his fingers.
Tyler and Tara pretended they were at the same place and seemed to be picking out some vegetables when they both picked the same one “Oh, I’m sorry. You take it.” Tyler said politely.
Tara smiled as she rejected “No, you touched it first, you should take it.”
“Shit, if Tyler touched it, I wouldn’t want it either.” Ivy snickered making Vicki crack up with laughter.
“Ahem!!” Mr. Yung cleared his throat to silence Ivy. Vicky hid her smile as she put her finger to her lips.
Ben ignored the remark as he continued “Next scene: The bar.”
Tyler and Tara immediately adjusted themselves as they pretended to be holding drinks. Tyler was a few seats away as he turned over and looked at Tara, he nodded to her with a smile “Hi.”
“Hello.” Tara replied politely.
“That’s a striking pair of shoes you’re wearing.” Tyler complimented.
Ivy couldn’t help it as she exploded into giggles, her tears of laughter coming out quickly as she held her stomach “Stop…stop…you’re killing me…” she managed to spurt out between giggles. Vicki couldn’t help laughing too as her friend’s laugh was contagious.
Tyler placed his hand on his hips “That’s not funny!”
Ivy stood up on the couch as she looked down at her brother “Of course it is…no guy in the right mind would use the word ‘striking’ and ‘shoes’ in the same sentence unless he was gay!”
“Or observant!” Tyler crossed his arms as he looked over at Ben “This isn’t fun! I don’t want to play anymore.”
Ben got up as he stopped Tyler from stomping away “Okay…wait…maybe Tara is a little too polite. Let’s have Ivy give it a try.” She nodded to her to come up while Tara took her spot with a grin.
Ivy managed to stop laughing as she joined her brother in the front of the living room “Okay, what do I do?”
“Just be as courteous as possible.” He said with a sigh and nodded to Tyler to begin.
“Wait, what’s the setting?” Tyler asked, he was getting into the roles.
“How about…a formal party?” Ben asked and Tyler nodded in agreement.
Tyler cleared his throat as he straightened his back and placed one hand behind his back and put out another hand “Can I have this dance?”
“No.” Ivy replied and then added “Thank you.” She smiled proudly at Ben who was still shaking his head “What?!” she asked in shock “I said thank you!”
“But you shouldn’t.” Ben argued “You should always take a dance no matter who it’s coming from.”
“Even if it’s from my gay brother?” Ivy asked incredulously.
Tyler let out a sigh “Hello! It’s role playing…I’m not your brother.”
“Yeah, but you act gay.” Ivy replied with a sharp tongue.
Ben stood up as he stopped everything. Tara and Vicki were on the side giggling to themselves “I’m glad someone’s enjoying the show.” He snickered making them stop their laughter “Tyler, have a seat. Let me try.”
Tyler rolled his eyes “Good luck.” He took a seat between the other two girls to watch the show.
Ben took a hold of Ivy’s arms as he gave her a little shake “Please…concentrate. This is probably the most important lesson you will ever learn.”
She looked at him blankly “Good, now I can die happy.” He tilted his head and she quickly put up her hand in defense “Alright…sorry, that was the last one I promise.”
He nodded “Okay. Let’s go back to the fancy party.” He turned his back and acted like he was talking to someone. Ivy turned to the three on the couch and made a circular motion with her finger at her temple. Her father cleared his throat once again and she was back to the role playing. Ben turned and then gave Ivy a double take “Well, what is your name, beautiful?” he used his most flirtatious voice.
“None of your beeswax, now get your nose out of my ass!” Ivy quipped. Tyler had to stifle his laugh and Vicki was turning red from holding in the giggles. Tara on the other hand looked confused. Ivy saw as she explained to the girl “Ever heard of brown nosing?”
“Yeah…but I’m not sure what it means.” Tara said while scratching her head, wondering why the other two were ready to burst into laughter.
“How about kiss ass?” Ivy asked.
Tara opened her mouth as her eyes widened “Oh…I see…”
Ivy turned back to Ben who looked aggravated “What?”
“You’re not going to tell someone that if they compliment you, will you?” Ben asked, but some how he already knew the answer.
Vicki raised her hand “Actually, to clarify that…Ivy has used that line when this guy came in the restaurant and said she looked cute in an apron.”
“You did??!” Mr. Yung asked in shock.
Ivy shrugged “I may have said it…”
“What did he do?” Tyler asked “And how come I always miss the best scenes?"
“He walked out red faced and never showed his face there again.” Vicki replied “I think he even went to the bathroom to cry cause Ivy said it loud enough for the entire restaurant to hear.”
Ivy suddenly smiled widely “You’re right…I do remember. Oh crap…I made him cry?” she asked and Vicki nodded “Now I can really die happy!” she announced.
Ben crossed his arms sternly at her “It’s a wonder you don’t have any normal friends.” He turned to Mr. Yung “Sorry, uncle I cannot help you…she is what you call helpless.” He prepared to leave but Ivy quickly pulled him back.
“Wait…I’m sorry Benny…I didn’t mean to make you upset. I know you’re trying really hard to help me. I should do better than that…I promise, on my mother’s grave.” She put up three fingers “I will be a good girl, from this day forth.”
Tyler and Vicki gaped at Ivy in shock while Mr. Yung looked like a proud father “Damn, she’s possessed.” Tyler whispered.
Ben on the other hand was a bit more suspicious “I’d be lying if I said you sounded sincere when you said that.”
“But I am…I want to do the right thing. Please Ben…make me into a polite young lady.” Ivy said with a serious tone.
Vicki turned to Tyler “I’m scared.”
“Me too.” Tara whispered.
Ben looked straight into her eyes “Okay…We’ll continue this lesson tomorrow. I’ll take you into my office, we’ll have more privacy in there.”
Ivy bit the bottom of her lip seductively “So you can have your way with me?” Ben let out a sigh as he began to leave but she pulled him back “Sorry! Sorry!! I’m sorry…damn, what is that?” she shook her head.
Tyler raised his hand “It’s called personality.”
Ben turned to Ivy “Sarcasm is the number one turn off for men.”
“Really?” Tyler asked curiously “And all this time I thought it was my sister.”
Ivy threw him a deadly look “Just wait til you fall asleep.” She threatened darkly. Her eyes calmed down as she looked up at Ben “Okay. I’ll meet you tomorrow. Just come by tomorrow morning and wake me up.”
“Okay.” Ben nodded as he nodded to the group “Good night everyone.”
Ivy waved to the other three to get up “Say good night to Mr. Lam.” The four lined up as they bowed evenly and said “Good Night, Sir.” Together in a monotone voice. Ben shook his head with a smile while the four busted up laughing.
Mr. Yung shook his head “I’m sorry I ever got you involved.” He said to Ben.
“I’m neck deep, I can’t get out now.” Ben smiled.
“Unless you drown.” Ivy quipped and noticed Ben’s brow raising “Last one…I promise!”
“Have you noticed, Ga Jei has a lot of ‘last ones’?” Tyler asked.
“Shut up!” Ivy snapped.
