The True Face *Expanded* (COMPLETED)

Chapter 17

The End!!!

Annie sat on her couch as she stared at the television with a blank expression on her face. She had gotten up early that morning to get ready for work when she suddenly remembered that she had walked out the day before. She fixed herself some cold cereal which was sitting on the little coffee table in front of her.

She spent most of the day by herself and inside her little apartment. She had no interest to go out and her phone was so silent. It was close to 4pm and still no call. She stared at it, secretly wishing for it to ring. The silence was almost deafening. Sighing as she turned back to her magazine reading.

The sudden sound of the telephone ring made her jump in her seat. Reluctantly, she reached for it "Hello?" her voice croaky from not talking all day.

"Annie?" his familiar voice made her heart jump.

"What do you want?" she asked annoyingly.

"Why aren't you at work? I even had your new office decorated. Come on, get dressed, you've got to see it!" he spoke like nothing ever happened between them.

She pulled the phone away from her ear as she gave it a dirty look and placed it back on her ear "Are you on drugs or something? Did you not see me walk out with my stuff yesterday?"

"You did? I don't remember. Anyways, come on! I want to know what you think. If you like, I'll have you design it your way." he said casually.

"Who is this??" she demanded, refusing to believe that it was really Jacky.

"Your boyfriend, Jacky Hung, son of the President of Hung Corporation. Come on, I thought we talked about this yesterday?"

"Is this some kind of a joke??" for a second there, he almost got her believing his words. She knew yesterday was like a daydream. She didn't realize that it was true until she saw the cardboard box with all her belongings from the office laying in front of her.

"No." his tone turned serious. "Annie, I am begging you to come down here. Please...I want to talk to you."

She was silent for a few minutes and he gave her time to think. She took so long to think of a response that she figured he had hung up "You still there?"

"Yeah, of course."

Part of her felt relieved "Okay, I'll be down there in half an hour."

"Really??" he was surprised that she didn't give him a harder time.

"You want me to change my mind?" she asked.

"No no..." he said quickly.

She smiled "Okay, see you then." he couldn't tell by the sound in her voice if she was still upset or she was back to normal. She popped up from her seat and returned to her room to change.

When she reached the building, wearing jeans and a simple tee, one of the security guards stopped her. In his hand was a white rose. "Are you Miss Annie Chu?" she nodded her head curiously "This is for you." he handed her the white rose and pulled out a note that was attached to the stem and read it out loud to her "I will always remember the first smile you gave me." with that he walked on.

She gave him an odd look as she let the words sink in. Next she took the elevator up to the 20th floor. She sniffed the rose and the sweet fragrance tickled her senses. Smiling as she realized what a sweet gesture it was. She got out of the elevator and greeted the receptionist, who waved her over. "Annie, this is for you." she pulled out a yellow rose, again with a note attached to the stem "You're natural blushing cheeks always brought a smile to my face."

Annie was curious as she took the rose from the girl "Liz, do you know who did this?"

The girl smiled but didn't respond, all she did was point towards the office. Annie walked around the corner to the familiar place she was at for the past few months. Everyone seemed to be working and they didn't pay any attention to her. Before she walked on, Joe stopped her and handed her an orange rose "The singing laughter of your voice is embedded in my heart." he smiled as he walked away.

She stared after him, curiosity growing on her as she wondered if Jacky was involved. She continued towards Miss Lai's old office, which was to be hers according to Jacky. She was stopped by Tracy, the new girl "Hey Annie!" she smiled as she pulled out a pink rose "I saw your beautiful eyes before you revealed them to the world." she gave Annie a wink before returning back to work.

She had a small smile on her face as she looked at the colorful roses in her hands. She continued on to the office but was stopped again by Peter. He gave her a warm smile "Hi Annie."

"Wait, you have a rose for me?" she asked smartly.

He nodded "The softness of your voice can calm all of my fears." he handed her a purple rose. "This is for you too." pulling out a folded purple paper from his mail basket and gave it to her.

"Thanks." she smiled as he disappeared around the corner. Opening the paper while she read it to herself:

Annie,

I know you might still be upset and until you are ready to see me, I will not show my face. I can only comminicate through notes and people. I hope you know that the words are from the bottom of my heart and I truly mean it. The roses symbolizes the colors of the world that you showed me without ever knowing it. When you open this door, you will find the most beautiful color of all.

Love,
Jacky

Tears brimming in her eyes as she finished the letter, it was touching. She took a deep breathe preparing herself as she opened the door. She gasped, covering her mouth with her free hand as she looked around. The floor were covered with red rose petals and the desk was drenched with the same petals. Red scented candles were litted and placed around the office. The smell of it drowned into her nose as she breathed it in. On the leather chair was a white box wrapped in a lavendar bow. On the bow was a little card that she opened "If you are ready to accept me, please meet me at the pier." she instantly knew what pier it was. The same one he took her to when she told him that she's never eaten seafood off the pier. He took her there on a Saturday, where they ate clams and lobsters. They were so full that night that they had to walk up and down the pier for hours to work off the food. She smiled as she began to open the box and found the most gorgeous piece of dress she's ever seen. She pulled it out and placed it over herself, it was the perfect length. Carefully, she placed it back into the box and carried it with her.

She was about to call for a taxi from the front of the building when a white stretch limo pulled up. The driver got out of the driver side and ran around the long car to where she stood. "Miss Annie Chu?" she nodded as he opened the door with his hand showing her in. She smiled politely at him and took a seat in the car. It was even more luxurious than she imagined.

The car stopped at the pier and she got out. She watched the limo disappear down the street, maybe it was just there to take her there? She brushed off the thought and walked down the pier. The night was getting darker as she tried to focus on the bodies that walked up and down the peir. None of them were Jacky. She reached to the end and stood there with the box in her hand. Suddenly a finger tapped on her shoulder, she jumped in surprise as she spun around. Only to find a guy she's never met before smiling at her.

"Hi, Im Johnny."

The name brought familiarity, it was the same name that Jacky talked to her about. He was a friend of Jacky's that she's never met. 'Must be the gay one.' she thought to herself. "Hi." she replied politely "Im sure you know who I am."

He nodded. His hands were behind his back as he pulled out another box, this was a lot smaller. "For you, my lady." he handed it to her, it had the same color bow.

She opened it and found the most adorable pair of sparlking lavendar shoes. The straps were ankle wrapped and the toes were opened. She smiled adoringly at the shoes "Its beautiful" she gushed.

"Your next clue to where Jacky is..." he pulled out a note and read it to her "The place where your true beauty appeared. I knew it existed but wanted you to finally see it."

"The salon..." she whispered softly.

"He told me to remind you that if you have not forgiven him, please don't pressure yourself to go on this journey."

She nodded and grinned widely, she can imagined him doing something so creative and romantic. She had long ago forgiven him when the first rose was given to her. "Thank you." she looked up at the sky and it was almost pitch black now.

"Too dark?" Johnny asked as he walked over to the rail of the pier and touched something.

She watched in amazement as the two rails of the pier lit up with wrapped lights around the metal bars. It literally brightened up the whole pier. She walked down the place with ease while the people around gasped at the intricate design. When she got to the end, she wasn't surprise to see a limo waiting for her. This one was a black one. It took her straight to the salon.

When she walked throught the double doors with the two boxes, she was greeted by Tia. "Annie!!" she said happily "I thought you weren't gonna come."

"Tia, what is going on?" she didn't see any other customers inside the salon. Only a grinning Jamie in the back with all his 'girls' behind him, ready to take on the task.

"We are going to freshen you up." she wrapped her arms around Annie and led her to one of the chairs. She took the boxes from her and walked to the closed room in the back where they kept their supplies. She was going to change into them later.

Jamie rubbed his hands together "Ohhh, this is sooo exciting!!" he exclaimed as he began brushing her hair. "Good girl!! You've been using that cream for your hair that I gave you."

Annie nodded "You are the queen." she smiled as he giggled.

The other guys worked on her pedicure and medicure with a lavendar color nail polish designed to match her dress to perfection. Jamie worked his magical hands as he designed her hair in an up do. A french twist with the ends flowing from the top of her head. He curled them lightly and put tiny lavender clips randomly around her curled hair. Lastly, he took his time doing her make up. The lightest of shades in purple on her eyes and a touch of purple on her pink lips. She looked mesmerizing.

After he did the last touch up, Jamie stood back and covered his mouth emotionally. He looked like he was going to cry. Tia walked over and examined the work as she put an arm around Jamie who looked so proud "You are the queen!" she gasp. "Annie, you look beautiful. Still missing two things."

Annie smiled, she knew the dress and the shoes were missing something. She walked to the back room where Tia put the stuff. In a few minutes she walked out looking absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. The 'girls' clapped as they admired the beauty before them. Tia almost had tears in her eyes. "You look gorgeous" her voice choked as she complimented her friend.

"Thank you." Annie said sincerely. She saw Jamie wipe something off his face, she guessed it was a tear. She let go of Tia's hand as she walked back to Jamie "You are very talented!"

He muffled a giggle as he waved the compliment in the air "Well, aren't you going to look at yourself?"

"I don't need to. Just from the look on your face, I know what a miracle job you did."

He couldn't hold it in as he burst out crying, but with a smile still plastered on his face. "You're so sweet!!" he pulled her in for a hug and suddenly let go "Oh my gosh, Im not suppose to do that." he quickly rushed to the back where his assistants were standing.

Annie smiled as she shook her head, he was so dramatic. "Now, where to? Are you taking me to my destination? I hope its going to be the last one." she asked her friend.

Tia laughed as she skipped over to Annie "Yup, come on. Thanks guys!!" she waved to the.

"Girls!!!" they said in unison, with Annie chiming in at the same time.

"Excuse me!" Tia said in defense. She walked Annie out of the mall. They recieved so many stares that it made Annie blush. She even hid behind her friend when they got to the exit. Outside was Jacky's little red convertible. "He actually let me drive it!!" Tia said proudly "That dork wouldn't even let me sit in it a month ago."

"Oh don't exaggerate!" Annie scolded. But she could imagine Jacky being that mean to Tia.

Tia drove like a maniac as she sped down the streets to Jacky's house. Annie had to hold on tight to keep herself from swaying side to side. Luckily, they had the hood up, if not her hair would have been a crow's nest by then.

The car came to a screeching halt and the two girls bouced in their seat from the stop. Tia giggled as she looked at her friend "That's what he gets!!" she said while Annie shook her head. Her hand on her stomache, it made a few flips from Tia's crazy driving.

They got out of the car and began walking to the door. Annie noticed that Tia wasn't following her "Tia, you're not coming?" she turned around to her friend.

She smiled "No, its your moment to shine. I've got him to keep me company." she pointed to Johnny, who appeared from the left side of the huge front lawn.

Annie nodded as she pushed the doorbell. The double door swung open by two men dressed in a black suit. The place was pitch black as she entered. The men quickly closed the doors from the outside, giving her privacy. Within seconds the place was litted in a dim light. She saw a figure standing by the couch before her. He was dressed in a gray suit, his back faced her but she knew it was Jacky "You did all this for me?" she asked.

He turned around slowly, a smile crept on his face as he took small strides over to her. "Nothing is too big for my Annie." he put out a firm hand "May I have this dance?"

"There's no music...." the minute she said it, a beautiful ballad came on. She smiled "Sneaky guy." she took his hand as he led her to the empty part of the living room.

His eyes were glued to hers as he swayed her to the music. She looked back at him with comfort, his gaze didn't make her nervous or shy anymore. "Are you sure you're not an angel?" he asked.

"Don't be so corny." she giggled.

He scowled while he continued "Heaven must be missing an angel tonight."

She laughed louder "You are too much!"

Suddenly, his face turned serious "Annie, will you be my girlfriend?" his question was so serious.

Annie smiled "For all this just to be your girlfriend? Gosh, I would have expected you to propose or something." she teased.

A sly smile came across his face as she stopped dancing and pulled out a ring box from his suit jacket and kneeled down on one knee "If you say so. Annie, I don't know when I fell in love with you. But I am positive that you are the girl for me. This feeling that I get when I see you is so new to me, thats how I know it is true love. Miss Chu, will you make me the luckiest guy on earth and marry me?"

A tear dripped down from her eyes, landing on her cheek as it slid slowly to the hand that he was holding. "You're crazy." she managed to say.

"Well, will you make me the craziest man on earth then?" his grin growing by the minute "I'll go crazy if you make me kneel any longer."

She laughed through tears as she pulled him up to her level "Will you make me the happiest angel in heaven?" he nodded eagerly "Then my answer is 'yes'." he quickly embraced her in the tighest bear hug.

"Thank you." he whispered into her hair as they hugged. He pulled her away as he slowly leaned in for a kiss.

Before their lips met, the lights were turned on "Okay, save that for the honeymoon!!" Tia cried out as they appeared through the door. The maids and servants came down from the stairs, while Jacky's father walked into the living room from the den. Everyone applauded at the new couple.

"Congradulations." his father said to his new daughter in law. His smile warm and accepting.

"Thank you." Annie smiled brightly at the elder man.

"Thank you, FATHER!!" Tia corrected as she walked over to them.

"Who invited her?" Jacky asked sarcastically.

Annie covered a giggle "She's YOUR friend." Tia threw her a dirty look, but soon laughed it off. She was too happy for her friends to hold a grudge.

**********

The wedding took place exactly two months later. Apparently, when the groom has money, everything is done with ease. Friends of the bride and groom showed up happily as they dressed respectfully. There weren't that many guests since it was just a small gathering. Tia was the maid of honor while Johnny was the best man.

The mansion's back yard was big enough to hold any kind of party, it was where they had originally planned to do the wedding. The reception was also done there, the food was fresh from the cooks and the music was a live band that played every song they knew. Annie was greeting the guests when she spotted Tia and Johnny by the bar. The first dance was about to start "Hey you two, Im gonna need your help when the first dance start." they gave her puzzled looks "You know how most people are too shy to dance, well, I want you two to start it off. Maybe then people will come out and dance?"

"I don't think its a good idea." Tia said slowly as she glanced at Johnny.

"Oh come on, its not like you guys don't know each other! Tia, he's gay, he won't hit on you." her voice full of sarcasm.

"Yeah, Im just afraid he'll do something else. No more drinks for you!" she pointed at the champagne glass he was holding.

He quickly put it on the rented bar table. "Yes, mam!" he gave her a salute before bursting into giggles.

Annie gave them a strange look "You two are acting too strange."

"Whatever, I am still not dancing with him." Tia said stubbornly.

"You two act like you slept together or something!" Annie joked. When Tia's face turned bright red, she pointed at them "You two slept...."

Tia put her hand over Annie's mouth harshly "If you tell Jacky, I will kill you and throw you in the woods for the coyotes to eat!!" she whispered threateningly.

"He's coming!!" Johnny whispered as Tia quickly let go of Annie's mouth.

"Hi sweetie." Jacky gave his new wife a kiss on the cheek. Annie didn't say a single thing except smile at him. He gave her a strange look "What's wrong?" She shook her head, her face trying hard to keep from exploding with laughter. He glanced at Tia and Johnny and suddenly his eyes popped wide open "You two did it!!!" he exclaimed.

Annie couldn't hold it as she burst out laughing joining in with her husband. She nodded her head "I didn't say it." she held her hands in in defense when Tia gave her the evil eye.

Tia and Johnny were shocked as they witnessed ESPN from the new couple. "You two are scary." he commented.

Jacky wiped the tears from his eyes as he put up a hand "Im sorry, its just that you're gay and you...." he laughed harder and louder than before.

"What's wrong with that??!!" Tia demanded.

"Nothing, except, are you turning straight??" he asked Johnny.

He shook his head "Im still as gay as ever! But we might be having a kid..." Annie and Jacky covered their mouths to keep from screaming.

"You promised not to tell!!!" Tia cried out angrily.

"Tia, they'll find out eventually." he said reasonably. She pouted as she crossed her arms roughly.

"Oh my gosh, that's something to tell the kids...." Annie commented.

"Congradulations, I hope you two will be very happy together." Jacky said solemnly.

"Oh, shut up!" Tia grumbled.

Suddenly a slow song began to play as the MC called for the bride and groom's first dance. "That's our call. And remember, you're coming up next, lovebirds." Annie warned.

They danced a whole song before Tia and Johnny decided to join in. Soon, everyone began to partner up and danced around the newlyweds. Jacky stared at Annie like she was the only person with him in the decorated back yard. She looked back adoringly at him "What did I do to deserve a guy like you?" she whispered lovingly.

"Angels deserve the best." he replied. They smiled as they continued to dance. She leaned her head against his chest as his cheek layed on her head.
