Chapter 6

The New Hair

The two guys talked like old friends on the ride to the mall. Johnny was talking nonstop about his friend named James but he goes by Jamie. Jacky felt a little odd about a guy cutting his hair, his usual hair stylist was a girl named Erin. She knew his style and always tended his hair to perfection. But then again, she lived in London.

Tia met them at the mall, she stood from far away and saw the way the guys talked and laughed. They got along so well, she felt giddy inside. It wasn't a mistake to introduce Johnny to Jacky. When they saw her coming, Jacky put his hands on his hips with an exaggerated expression "Sheesh, aren't we a little late?" he pointed at his rolex watch.

She smiled "Fashionably late. Well, lets go and meet this goddess of yours."

"You've never met him?" Jacky looked surprise.

"She told me it was bad luck to have a gay guy touch her hair. That's why she scratched me there." he pointed to his abs.

Jacky laughed "Since when are you so supersticious?" he didn't know that about his friend.

"Oh shush! Its nothing to laugh about. Come on, I want to see his hair blue! Or purple!" she cried out with excitement.

"I prefer a bright orange!" Johnny teased. The two laughed as they linked arms and walked towards the hair salon, leaving the flabergasted Jacky behind. He quickly came into step with the two. When they reached the salon, he noticed that it looked more elegant than he imagined.

He glanced around and realized all the hair stylist there were guys. But one guy stood out in particular, his hair was waved to the side in the most perfect swoop. His features were man-like but his gestures were totally feminine.

Johnny smiled as he waved to the guy that Jacky was looking at "Jamie (cameo by Leon Lai)!"

"JOHNNY!!" his exaggerated expression made Jacky's skin crawl. He couldn't imagine what guys saw in them? The guys greeted each other with a kiss on the cheek. Tia and Jacky exchanged glances, she had a grin that was so big while Jacky looked almost scared. "Didn't I tell you no girl's allowed in here? They take up all my light." he snickered at Tia, who just laughed.

"Oh gosh, she's no girl. Its just Tia. Oh and this.." Johnny pushed Tia to the side making her fumble on her feet. He pulled at Jacky's arm for him to come closer "this adorable guy is Jacky."

Jamie's face seemed to blush over as he took Jacky's hand and shook it softly "Ohhh, he's cute!" he gushed to Johnny. "What can I do for you today, sweetie?" his voice was surupy and it continued to give Jacky goosebumps.

Jacky looked at Johnny for help "He's got an undercover project to do. His disguise is one of us." his wink told Jamie that it was serious. "Can you help him with a 'look'?"

"Honey, when I get done with you, you'll wish you were gay!" he snapped his finger and his head shook from side to side. "Come on sit down." he pointed to an empty chair nearby. Running his manicured fingers through Jacky's hair as he swooned "OH! You've got beautiful, soft hair!"

Jacky looked at Tia through the reflection of the mirror "See? I told you." he snorted.

She smiled "I'd say that too if I wanted to dye your hair green!"

"No green!!" Jacky exclaimed.

Jamie didn't seem to mind their bickering, he placed a hand softly over his chin as he looked thoughtful "No, no, green is so skater straight boys look, so outdated...you want to be gay, we have to go blond." Jacky's eyes widened with fear, he was ready to get off his seat when Jamie pushed his shoulders back into the seat. "Don't go chicken on me now." he scolded "We won't dye the whole head because you'll just look like a gangster boy. Streaks would be good." he nodded his head in agreement with himself. He clapped his hands twice at one of the other guys "Lewy! Mix me some blond highlights!"

The guy nodded with a wide smile on his face as he went to get the dye. He came back a little later with a container and a brush with a light blue color dye. It was the first time Jacky's ever seen the highlight dye. He was a nervous wreck, he never had his hair dyed before. And the two giggling monkeys in the back didn't help him at all.

Jamie threw the black wrap around Jacky's stripped shirt to keep the dye from dripping on his clothes. "Now, this won't hurt a bit okay?" he said sweetly as he placed a plastic cover over Jacky's hair. It was a special plastic covering with holes. Using the sharp end of the comb, he pulled out strands of hair from the holes. After that was done, Jamie began to brush the blue gue onto Jacky's hair. "You a virgin?" he asked nochalantly while he did Jacky's hair.

"What??!!" Jacky asked in disbelief. "I don't think its any of your business." He didn't expect this guy to be so forward. He knew hairstylists tend to get personal with conversations but not that personal!

"You don't have to get all nasty about it." Jamie said sarcastically "I was just talking about your hair. Is this time your first?"

Jacky's face turned a crimson red "Oh, yeah. Sorry." he mumbled. His reaction made Tia laugh harder while Johnny tried to suppress his laughter. They continued to whisper to each other while Jacky gave them dirty looks from the mirror reflection.

After the dying was done, Jamie washed Jacky's hair himself. He's the owner of the shop and he usually never washes the customer's hair besides Johnny, Jacky would be the second. Jamie took his time as he blew dry Jacky's thick hair and snipped the sides and top to make them sharper with a cool effect. The streaks stood out from his dark brown hair. The final touch came when Jamie put some guey gel all over Jacky's hair. He used the comb and brushed it neatly up, the hair spiked in all directions after he was done. He stood back and smiled at his masterpiece "Beautiful!" he exclaimed and covered his mouth with his fingers.

The other two had grown tired of laughing at Jacky so they sat at one corner and read magazines. When they heard Jamie's comment they both dropped the magazines and ran over to see the damage.

Tia covered her mouth "Oh my gosh!" she said, it was hard to detect whether she was complimenting or insulting his new hair.

Johnny smiled "Wow." was all he said.

Jacky stood up and moved in closer to the mirror for a better look. He bounced his head up and down, he liked the streaks. Turning back to Tia and Johnny "What do you think?"

"Put on some kneew high boots and a leather mini dress, you can start working the streets!" Tia said before she burst out laughing.

"Well, I think he looks adorable!!" Jamie said with a hurt tone in his voice "I told you not to bring girls in here!" he hit Johnny on the arm before running to the back room dramatically, his arms waving side to side.

Tia covered her mouth to stop her laughing "Did I hurt his feelings?"

"He'll get over it." Johnny assured her.

"Well, I happen to like it." Jacky said as he nodded his head firmly. Johnny also agreed.

"Oh my gosh, you're turning gay before my very eyes." her eyes bulging out.

"I'll turn you red and purple if you don't stop those comments!" he pulled up his sleeves and balled up his fists threateningly. Tia quickly hid behind Johnny "Get out of the way, the woman has to be stopped."

He laughed as he held up his hands "Im sure she was just teasing. Come on, lets get something to eat. We've been here for over three hours." he pushed Jacky towards Jamie to pay the bill.

"It takes that long for him to look 'pretty'" Tia mumbled under her breath.

"I heard that!!!" Jacky yelled as he got closer to where Jamie was.

That night they went to eat together. Jacky wasn't use to all the attention that he got from people that just stared at him. Johnny warned him that it would happen alot more often with his new identity.

When Jacky got home that night, he met up with his father and Jim, the assistant that will know of Jacky's true identity. His father thought of everything, he didn't want anyone to suspect anything. So he rented an apartment across the way from Hung Corp so Jacky could live there. Reporters would eventually uncover the mystery person if Jacky were to enter and leave the mansion. The new position was available for him to start anytime. Jacky decided to do it as soon as possible.

He started the next day at work. As he thought, he got the stares and looks from all the people in the office. He knew the plan would work like a charm because after Jim introduced him to the staff, everyone returned to their own places and ignored him.

It was the perfect time to study the people because none of them payed attention to the 'gay' guy. He even hid a thick notepad in his desk, it was what he used to write down about people. The page for Miss Lai was already filling up fast. She was rude, demanding, mean and very bossy. Sounded like Mindy, he snickered to himself. Just one day and a whole three pages were filled up under her name. She was about fourty but never married, he understood why. She preferred to be called Miss Lai since she still single. He knew it would be a long three months after the first day was over.
