It was a long and grueling day for the agents as they were finally released from their gun training. After Devin announced that they were finished, he practically threw Bonnie into Mia’s arms “Oh my God, you’re heavy…what did Uncle Devin feed you?!” Mia cried in pain.

Darren laughed as he walked over to pick the darling from his wife’s arm “Daddy will hold you. Mommy’s crippled right now.”

“Doug, help me. I need a piggy back ride.” Mia waved her arm weakly.

“Yeah, keep dreaming.” He sputtered.

“At least I won’t drool.” Mia quipped with a laugh but quickly held her side in pain “Damn the situps!”

The girls returned to their room, too exhausted to get cleaned up. Jenna sighed as she reached her bed and hopped on only to cry out in pain “Its like sleeping on wood!” she groaned.

Erin shook her head with a laugh, she too was sore but was still able to handle the intense training. When the door knocked, Carmen turned to the girls “I’m too weak.”

“I think I’m literally dying.” Jenna said as she sprawled out on the bed.

Reina peaked her head into the room “Can I join you girls or am I banned forever?”

“Traitor!” Mia moaned with a pointed finger.

She looked apologetic “I brought a treat.”

“More cookies?” Jenna snarled.

“Hi mommy!” Bonnie rushed to her mom’s side.

“Oh good, you’re here. Come on, help mommy out.” She turned to her stomach and patted her back. Bonnie climbed onto the bed and began giving her a massage.

“Awww…I want a little girl too.” Jenna pouted with envy.

Mia smiled with her eyes closed “Ask Ryan. I’m sure he could squeeze out soldiers for you.”

“Uncle Ryan has toy soldiers? Mommy says only little kids plays with toys.” Bonnie nodded innocently.

Erin shook her head at her friend “You and your big mouth. Hey, what did you tell Bonnie to do? Devin tossed her to you like a football earlier.”

Mia grinned evilly as she tapped Bonnie’s hand for her to stop and she sat up “Go do Aunt Jenna.”

Jenna flipped over as she moaned, “You’re a Goddess Mia! I’ll never say a bad thing about you ever again.”

Bonnie giggled as she used her fist to pat her lower back “That’s not what you told me last week—”

“Shh! I said it was a secret.” Jenna hushed the girl.

Mia narrowed her eyes at Jenna but turned her attention to the other girls “Well, after the first kidnap. We realized Bonnie would constantly be a target. So we made up codes to communicate without speaking. If she was kidnapped and had a chance to talk to us, she would sneeze if she was safe or cough if she was scared. After she picked up all the codes, I made my own codes. Darren often has these rich snobs over for meetings in the library. If the guy’s a jerk, I tell Bonnie to take care of him.” She winked once “If it’s a person that’s nice, I do this.” Touching her nose with the tip of her index finger.

“Wait, you winked earlier.” Reina recalled.

Mia chuckled viciously “Bonbon, did Uncle Devin have a good time babysitting you?”

The girl paused to turn to her mom “Yes, he was red in the face.”

She threw her head back with a laugh “Good.”

“Remind me not to get on your bad side.” Carmen shivered fearfully.

“God, you’re training her into a mini-Mia.” Reina sighed.

“Hey, no one picks on me and gets away with it!” Mia reminded the girls with pointed fingers “Just remember. I’m the master of payback.”

“Cause you’re the biggest bitch?” Erin snuffed while the other girls laughed.

“Bitch!” Bonnie repeated.

Erin groaned for she forgot the girl was there “It’s okay, she’s heard me say that to Darren a hundred times.” Mia brushed it away lightly “Now Bonnie, you can say it but not in front of daddy.”

“Yes, mommy.” She replied obediently while the girls shook their heads in disbelief.

***************

In the guys’ room was filled with silence, the guys were resting their aching bodies but it was Doug that broke the silence with his annoying monotone cry “Ahhhh!!!”

“Damn, I thought he was asleep.” Darren groaned.

“I miss Jessie.” He sighed like a lovesick puppy.

“Two months will go by very fast.” Matt assured him.

Doug peeked through one eye at the Lieutenant “Easy for you. Reina’s here.” He turned to Ryan “And you have Jenna. Mia’s here…” he nodded at Darren “unfortunately.” He added before turning to Devin “And Erin is here.”

“What does she have to do with me?” Devin chuckled.

“You can deny all you want but we all know.” Darren put him on the spot with ease “Just fess up. You two are dating.”

“I see Mia’s gotten to you. Believe what you want.” Devin had no control over what they thought about their relationship.

Doug rolled over on his stomach as he turned to Devin curiously “So, is she good in bed? I bet she’s wild!” he growled like a cat.

The guys groaned with disgust while Ryan threw a pillow at him “That’s horrible, she’s still my Ga Jei.” He reminded the thoughtless guy.

“Hey, seriously though. Why do you still call her that? Shelly’s been gone for years. You’re single again.” Doug said the obvious.

“It’s out of respect.” Matt stood up for his brother.

“Respect.” Doug sat up as he spat out the word “Respect would be letting me finish my dinner before starting the stupid gun training.” He eyed Devin dangerously.

“If you didn’t take long in the bathroom, you would’ve had time.” Devin argued.

“Well, if you have to go, then you have to go. Do you ask a kid to hold their pee or—”

Devin cut him off “Speaking of kid.” He turned to Darren “Did you know Bonnie lied today? I swore you were a better father than that but I figured maybe it was from Mia.”

“What did she lie about?” Darren asked with wrinkled brows “It could be purposely.”

“How could it be purposely? She’s only five.” Devin shook his head in disbelief “I took her to the girls’ room and she flooded the toilet after stuffing the hole with toilet paper. When I told her to fess up to the monk janitor, she said that I pooped and clog up the toilet. When I told her not to lie, she started to cry and I had to take the blame.”

When he finished the story, Ryan and Matt covered their stifled laughs with their hand while Doug couldn’t hold it in. He whipped his head back laughing and quickly held onto his neck “Ow…whiplash.”

Darren grinned, “It’s purposely. At least she didn’t pick her nose and serve you a donut after.” He snickered “Mia’s taught her quite a lot of tricks.”

“And you allow this to happen?” Devin asked in astonishment “I don’t plan on having a kid but if I had one, he would earn a good spanking.”

“Yeah, easy for you to say. You don’t have a kid.” Darren shook his head sadly “Those eyes can do magic. All she has to do is widened her eyes and say the word ‘Daddy’ and before you know it, I’m out buying her a swing set and monkey bars so she can become a gymnast.”

“I would spoil the crap out of my daughter.” Matt agreed, “You don’t know the feeling of looking at a child in the eyes that you know is a part of you.”

“Reina’s not…” Doug frowned.

Matt laughed “Not that I know of.”

“I would love to be an Uncle.” Ryan was excited just thinking about it “When are you two getting married? Is it still undetermined?”

“Yeah, work has been taking too much of our time.” Matt nodded.

“Maybe you guys can do this at the end of the year? I hear it’s not as popular as the spring and summer weddings.” Darren advised thoughtfully.

Doug frowned “This talk is getting too girly. I’m starving so I’m going to get something to eat. You ladies carry on.” He bowed at the waist with a wave of the arm before exiting the room. He headed to the kitchen in the barely lit hallway “Don’t they have lights in this damn place?” he asked himself.

“Young man, it is not good to curse.” An old monk appeared from nowhere as he bowed with one hand pointed up to the sky at the center of his chest.

“Sorry Master.” Doug imitated the action. He watched the man leave as he crept along the hall towards the kitchen. He opened the door to the pitched black room “Lights!” he clapped his hand “Damn it! How do people live here?” he used his hands to trace the tables and tried unsuccessfully to find the steamer where the buns were kept warm. Suddenly, he heard scurrying to his right. He found the shadow sprinting to the door as he beat the person to it “Thief! What are you doing here?” he demanded.

The girl whimpered in pain from his grasp “Please sir…I’m hungry. I just want food.” She begged.

He instantly let go of her arm “I’m sorry.” He apologized while trying to picture her face but it was covered with her long mousy mane. His eyes trailed to her hand, which was holding a broken cracker “That won’t hold you over. Here, have some steamed buns.” He retraced his steps to the steamer and got a few out for her. Handing them over in a cloth, he smiled “It’s not good to steal things. If you want, you can come back every night at this time and I’ll bring you food.”

She was touched beyond belief. For a whole year, she was homeless and no one cared to even look at her. But here she was stealing food and the guy didn’t even bother to turn her in. Instead, he offered to give her more food “Thank you!” she gushed.

Doug smiled “Anytime. But I’m only here for two months. After that, you’re on your own.”

“Two months is more than I could ask for.” The girl was gracious for any help she got. She noticed the shiny watch on his wrist. It had a glow in the dark sign of the cross “That’s pretty.”

“Handsome.” he corrected “Pretty is for girls.” He noticed her hidden smile “You should go before someone catches you. I’m Doug by the way.” He placed a hand out to welcome her.

“They call me Ah Kiu.” The girl retrieved shyly as she left quietly. Doug stared after her and sighed sadly. He always had a weak spot for orphans, since most of his teammates were orphans themselves. He was brought back to reality when his stomach growled in disagreement. He rushed to get a steamed bun and ate it hungrily on his way back to the room for a long rest. They would be sore the next day, he was sure of it.
