It was the first day of school, I was all alone at my locker staring at my schedule
A cute boy offered to walked me to class, it ended up that hes also in my class
“hey my names David, whats yours?”

Lunchtime
“can I sit next to you?” the boy named David asked
I was relieved because I was new and didn’t have any friends
“yea sure” I smiled

Three months later
I was in tears because my parents were being mean and unreasonable
Then david called me
“HEY! What are you doing?”
“…nothing”
“are you crying?”
“…no… just don’t worry about it, I’ll see you tomorrow”
then I hung up and went outside for a walk
I sat on the swings of one of the playgrounds nearby
Ten minutes later, I saw a running figure that’s coming towards me
“David?”
“don’t lie and tell me everythings okay when they’re not”
Then he pulled me into a hug

A month later
We were lying down on the playground where he comforted me a while ago
Then he suddenly took my hand and looked me directly in the eyes
“hey ann... do you want to go out with me?”

After that weekend
It was almost dark outside, and I was in the back of the school with some girls
“why are you always with david?”
“Yeah, are you trying to go out with him or something?”
“He’s mine, don’t go near him”
"Stop acting like your innocent you slut, you're not good enough for David"
Those girls told me
“But… hes my…” ...boyfriend now...
“yea whatever, you probably just think hes hot and want to hookup with him or something”
Then one of the girl slapped me and said
“I’m warning you, hes my ex and we still have a thing. Stop hanging out with him or you’ll regret it”
What did she say?
They still have a thing…?

That night
I was on the phone with him
“I have something to ask you…”
“what is it?”
“did you… do you still…” have a thing with something else?
“OH wait, I have something to ask you too!”
“?”
“lets go to prom together okay?”
“…sure” i'm probably just thinking too much... why would i believe those girls more than david? why why is there a part of my that feels so... unsafe?

A week later
I saw David and that girl in town
They were holding hands, talking, and smiling
I told myself, don’t worry. They’re probably just friends…
But then, when I looked back, they were kissing

Two nights before prom
“David… I don’t think we should go to prom”
“why?”
“I… I have other plans that day”
“how come? Its prom? Why wouldn’t you want to go with me? Is something wrong?”
“no…” could he tell?
“fine whatever.”
Then he stormed off

The next school day after prom
“omg did you hear what happened at prom?”
“yea apparently david didn’t go with ann”
“*gasp* really? The cutest hottie in school didn’t take his new prettiest girl to prom? Did he really show up with his ex?”
“Yupp, and did you head? They were like hooking up the whole entire time!”
“omg you didn’t hear what happened afterwards?”
“No… what happened?”
“Shh… but I heard that she lost it to him!”
“OMG REALLY? But are you sure she ‘lost it’ I bet its not her first time… shes such a slut”
“hahaha I don’t even want to know…”
Then the two girls walked away, not knowing that I heard everything
That night I got home and cried my self to sleep…

I was lucky that it was the weekend or else I would have shown up in school with rabbit like eyes
The night before I was suppose to go back to school
i avoided all contacts with David, its not like it was hard. he didn't show up at my house
“So Ann, your dad and I have decided that you really need to learn more about your native culture and appreciate it more…” my mom said
“MOM, I TOLD YOU I’M NOT GOING TO KOREAN/CHINESE SCHOOL OR WHATEVER EXTRA STUFF YOU’RE GONNA TRY AND SIGN ME UP FOR! I HAVE A LIFE YOU KNOW!”
Then my dad came in the conversation “I guess we’ll have to do that then…”

“David?”
I opened my eyes with some tears still on my face
But I didn’t see David, instead, I saw a lot of worried faces staring blankly back at me
