Wei's heart skipped a beat. "Nothing's too late?" Wei echoed, faintly.
"Yeah. Nothing's too late." En answered softly.
Wei looked into En's eyes for a brief moment, then broke contact as Shadow ran to him. "En," Wei started, while stroking Shadow, "It's... It's just not right. I don't know if I still hate Joe. I know he's repentant, willing to change. I.. I don't know... I don't know if I should forgive him or not. What would mom say?" Having said all that, Wei broke down again.
Shadow whined as a salty tear landed on his face, then he licked the tears off Wei's face in an attempt to cheer him up. Wei managed a weak smile as he ruffled Shadow's fur. Happy that Wei was finally smiling, Shadow got up and left, leaving the both of them in awkward silence. En broke the silence first.
"You know, Skye looks quite happy despite that growing weight in her."
"That's great. I er... Can't wait for them to be born. Well, Shadow's gonna be a dad!" Wei said, with a slight chuckle.
"Yeah." En grinned.
"You know something, En?"
"Hmm? What?"
"That this is the first time since I met you that I realized you are so... Beautiful."
En blushed.
"I'm serious! I mean, now I know why I was so attracted to you last time. The feeling, it's so different from what I felt when I saw your sister. I think... It must be some kind of primal longing toward her 'cause I can't have you." Wei held up En's hands as they looked at each other. "Now I realize... If I can't have you, I don't want anybody."

"I'm sorry." was all that he could say. He knew he had let her down, again, but he didn't have any choice. She was 38 and he was 42. And this would be the second time he was doing this to her.
"Why?" she cried, "Why did I believe you again? I was a girl then. Now, I'm still as foolish. Why?"
"I'm really sorry. I'll... I'll be back.." he said, trying to hug her. She pushed his hand away violently.
"Get your hands OFF me, you F***ER." she screamed in his face. "You made that promise once before, didn't you? But you NEVER came back. Till now. I'm never gonna believe you again. Get lost."
So he left. Very reluctantly. He looked back one last time at her, and left.
At the far end of the room, a 3-year-old little boy was crying. She hurriedly went to him and carried him up in her arms.
"Hush boy," she sobbed, trying to stop crying herself too. "From today onwards, you will no longer be a Chou anymore. You'll be Li Jiafeng."

He looked at his computer screen, the images blurring away. A message popped up on the screen. "You have just received a message from..." He forced himself to concentrate on his work and went to read the message.
"Chou-sir, so far, we have already confirmed that 2 of the suspects are involved... ..."
He sighed and turned off the computer and leaned back in his chair. 22 years ago, he left after his son was just born. 22 years later, he left, when his son was only 3 years old and a helpless little mite. He didn't know where his elder son was but he knew that both his sons would hate him for doing this to them.
But how could he make them understand that he really loved them and never meant to leave? Did his work really mean more to him than his family?

Jiafeng looked at his mom, then at the photograph in her wallet. It was a picture of a young boy and her.
"Mom? This you?" he pointed to her in the picture. She nodded. "This me?" he then pointed to the boy.
She paused. "Er... Jiafeng... That..."
"That not me?" Jiafeng pressed on.
She sighed. "Yeah. That's you. Aren't you a cutie?"
Jiafeng giggled then yawned. "Mom. Jiafeng want sleep." So she tugged him into bed and sat beside him, watching him till he fell asleep. She took out the photograph and looked at it for a long time.
"You've got a brother, you know. He's called Jiafeng. He's your real brother. Same mom, same dad. I'm sorry for leaving you... And like your dad left you last time, he's left your brother too. Your brother's not Chou anymore, he's Li now, follows after me. I don't know if you're still a Chou, but I hope to see you again. I really miss you, son. I wish you could meet your little brother..."
