Lun had chased Zhe out, only to receive yet another threat from him. Yeah, yeah, he'll be back. But this time he had already proven to Lun that there was nothing he won't do to break them up.
"Xuan? You.. okay?" Lun asked, standing in the doorway.
Xuan was huddled protectively under her blanket. She nodded, not daring to look into Lun's eyes.
Lun took one step closer to Xuan and she immediately freaked out. "Don't come any closer! I- You-"
Lun ignored her. He sat down on her bed beside her and took her into his arms. His warmth totally engulfed her and for a moment she thought that was bliss. But she realized that things weren't the same anymore. She pushed him away. Lun looked hurt.
"I..." She sobbed. "I'm sorry Lun... I.. I don't deserve you. I'm not worthy of you anymore... I..."
"Don't be silly Xuan. It doesn't matter. I.. It's.. I know it's not your fault. Well..."
Xuan shook her head. "It isn't the same anymore... I... I think... Let's break up."

En secretly wondered if anything would happen there. As in, not any dirty thoughts, but maybe he might say "I love you" to her a thousand times or something. She would be thrilled.
As they sat across each other at the table, they didn't say anything. En thought they would remain in this silence forever. When suddenly Wei spoke.
"This tastes great! You're a great cook, En..."
En blushed. "Thanks."
"Actually-" The both started simultaneously then stopped at the same time.
"You go first." Wei said, smiling.
En nodded. "I was just wondering if.. Well... You could come with me to NZ.. My company's sending me there on a business trip.. For about a month..."
Wei hesitated for a while. "Well.. I guess... Yes."
En's face lighted up and she smiled. Wei smiled back.
"That's... Great." En couldn't suppress her overwhelming excitement. Wei agreed. Wei agreed to go with her!

"What?" Lun blurted out.
"I said... Let's break up."
"Are you crazy? You mean we went through all these just to break up? Do you really think our love isn't strong enough to withstand all this? Don't have at least a bit of faith in me?"
"No.. It's not that, Lun. The problem isn't with you. It's me. It's not the same anymore. I'M not the same anymore... While you are still the same old you.."
"Are you kidding me? Xuan, this wasn't your fault. None of us had expected this to happen. Anyway, it doesn't matter to me. So why is it bothering you so much?"
"You don't understand, Lun! You've never been through this before! And... You're a guy. It's different, 'cause I'm a girl."
Lun was lost for words. Yeah, she was right. Things WERE different. Because he was a guy and she was a girl. Very different. Very VERY different.
"You see what I mean? It's not that I don't love you anymore or anything. It's just that, I can't bring myself to face you after this. I... I don't think I'll ever be the same again..."
"But-" Lun tried to put up his side of the argument but he realized that there wasn't much to argue about, except the fact that he would still love her as much. This had to be one of the worst days he would ever have in his life.
"But what, Lun? I told you, it's different. No matter what you say, it'll never be the same."
"I know what I say won't matter now... But all I hope now.. Is that you believe me..."
This time Xuan was lost for words. Lun didn't continue, he left, leaving Xuan alone to think about what he had just said.
Belief. Does it really exist?
------------------------------------------------------------
Lun was driving at high speed again, infuriated. He couldn't believe Xuan didn't trust him. Were his words really worth so little? He had always kept his promise.
"Take care of Xuan... ... She's vulnerable... ..." Lin's words had reappeared in his mind again.
Lun froze. He didn't always keep his promise. In fact, he had just broken one. Now this was serious. Because he didn't break anyone else's promise. He broke Lin's.
What would Lin think? She warned him that Xuan needed extra care, yet he couldn't even fend off a jealous lover. He was useless. Now he was quits with Xuan, he guessed.
But his promise to Lin. Broken. Lun felt like slapping himself. If Lin didn't warn him before, he might forgive himself. But the thing was he had been told before yet he still couldn't protect her from Zhe.
Lin won't forgive him. She left her best friend in his care and now look how she ended up.
Lun silently scolded himself for being so careless. But none of these would matter anymore, because Lin would never forgive him.
