When he woke up, he was in a familiar looking place- the hospital. And it reminded him of Lin again. But what he saw when he opened his eyes wasn't Lin. It was Xuan. Lun's loving brown eyes immediately turned into a icy stare, cold and hard but deep in there was still love.
"Why are you here?" he asked, turning away from her.
"I... I'm here to... See you and..." Xuan's voice trailed off. Her eyes were still red and puffy, and her tear-stained cheeks made Lun's heart ache. And Lun so wanted to know if she had changed her mind. But he didn't budge, he chose to stick with his stand for the time being.
"What?"
"Actually... I..." Xuan paused again. Simple words, clear meaning. Only thing was she just couldn't get them out of her mouth. "I..."
Lun was beginning to feel impatient. "What?" He pressed on, this time looking her straight in the eye.
Fortunately for him, he was in a single-patient ward. So he wasn't really afraid of what was going to happen next, be it good or bad.
"I wanted to tell you that... I..."
"You what?" Lun asked again, this time his impatience was getting the better of him, and it was going to turn into fury if Xuan still won't talk.
"I believe you." She said in a small voice. And she said it so fast Lun didn't get it.
"Huh?" Was all he could manage in his anxiety.
"I.. Believe you."
Lun tried hard not to let her see him smile. No, it would show just how desperate he was.
"Actually... I have always believed in you. It's just that.. Everything happened so quickly, I didn't know how to react. I mean.. Yeah, I didn't expect anything to happen yet it just happened so suddenly, I just thought I wouldn't be able to face you anymore, let alone be good enough for you... You're a great guy, I know. But, seriously, I'm really not that same girl anymore. And... I'm happy you said you'd still love me no matter what... It's just that.. It's a little hard to accept, especially after what I've been through. Perhaps.. You need a little more time to think about our relationship again..."
Without even a moment of hesitation, Lun replied. "No," he shook his head. "No. I don't need any more time. I know very clearly what I want and what I don't. And what I expect from this relationship and you and me. I think what matters most is the love we have for each other... It's not just physical stuff, it's heart stuff. I love you for who you are, not what you are. I know this sounds dumb but I'm serious. I've let you down once. I've even let Lin down. Give me one more try to make it right..."
"Lin..?" Xuan's voice faltered.
"Yeah. Before she left, she told me to take care of you. But.. I fell in love with you instead. And look where love has taken us both. I broke my promise, I let you down. I'm... I should be the one saying sorry. If not for me, Jason wouldn't have come back. If not for me, all these wouldn't have happened."
"Lun... It's over. I don't blame you for anything. Really. It's not your fault... And I know you're gonna say it's not mine either. But.. I know I love you. And I know you love me too... If it really doesn't matter to you... I guess... It won't matter to me too..."
Lun's eyes sparkled with joy. "Really?"
Xuan nodded. "Really."
"Oh gosh that's great!" Lun said, taking Xuan into his arms.
Just as the two of them were basking in love and the warm golw of the moonlight, Lun suddenly yelped in pain. He let go of Xuan at once.
"What's wrong?" Xuan's eyes grew wide in worry.
"Er.. Nothing... I'm not supposed to make exaggerated movements with my left arm..." Lun chuckled in spite of his pain.
Xuan smiled and hugged him tight. "Then don't move it. I'll move mine."
Lun smiled. The power of love. Seriously, love can do miracles.
