Chapter 2

"dream.

Lun was running. Running away from the train. He used to stand in the tracks but this time he was running. It was the girl again. She was pulling him and running.

"The key! Wait! Stop! The key...!" He shouted, but amidst the noise from the train, the girl didn't hear him so they continued running... And running...

"The key!" Lun shouted as he awoke with a jerk. His face was filled with perspiration. It was just a dream.

But, like all his previous dreams, he couldn't get the key. The key, was always lying in the tracks but he was pulled away from it each time. Lun looked at the clock. 7:14:23am. He sighed. Time to go to work.

Xuan read the lyrics to the song over and over again as she sat in the bus, waiting for her stop. Her earphones kept repeating the same track, over and over again as she tried to decipher its meaning. The lyrics were written with a lot of depth and she couldn't grasp the meaning behind the whole track. But she would, one day, she would.

Xuan thought of Lun. He was a nice guy. Only thing was that he didn't talk much. His words were pretty expensive. One question, one answer. But Xuan didn't mind. She didn't care about anything as long as she was with him. But little did she know that she was also the one who was stopping Lun from loving her.

Wei was walking through the park. The park was pretty deserted for it was so early in the morning. Everyone else had gone to work. That is, everyone, except him. Wei couldn't believe his fate. He was fired from the company the previous day. Wei was an university graduate. He had joined the company a few years ago and he was one of the most hardworking staff there. He just couldn't understand why he was fired.

Wei sat down on a bench dejectedly. He sighed as he looked up at the birds on the tree. Flying around freely and happily. Why couldn't he be just like them? Instead, he was born to work like shit, only to be fired from some crap company.

Hua was taking a shortcut through the park to go to work. She was working as a teacher in a primary school as she loved children. Hua's dream was to be a basketball player. A National player. But her hopes were dashed when she got involved in a traffic accident a few years ago. She had injured her spine and her doctor said that even after she had recovered, she could not do anything vigorous. Hua cried the whole day after the doctor told her that.

Now, Hua was just as happy to be a teacher. Although she couldn't fulfil her dream but she was happy to be with children everyday. If they were happy, then so was she. And the best thing was, she could always find time to play basketball with her best buds. But the games were not too vigorous, of course.

------------------------------------------------------------

Wei saw Hua. He was deeply attracted to her. Her eyes were... So mesmerizing. He wondered who was she.

For all Wei knew, Hua could be his other half for life.
