Then he saw the train coming around the bend. Its strong beams flashed straight into his eyes and he immediately used his flailing arms to block out the blinding flash. There was no way he could survive this. He knew he was going to die. As the train roared by, he felt a hand pulling him away from the tracks. A soft, gentle, yet cold hand.
As the hand pulled him to safety, he turned to see who exactly it was.
"Lin!" Lun gasped.
Lin nodded. She was a floating shape, slightly translucent but, yes, Lun could see her. And he could touch her too.
"Lin! You... You came back.." Lun breathed, not really believing this whole thing yet.
Lin nodded again. "Actually I'm not really me anymore. I'm.. something like a spirit. And, I can't stay for long. I came here.. To tell you.." Lin's voice trailed off.
Lun took a deep breath. "Is it about me and Xuan?"
"Yes." Lin replied. "I know you're happy with Xuan and she's happy with you. And.. I'm glad to know that. But I need to tell you... Find the key. Lun, find the key. The faster the better. There are some things you must know. And Xuan too. If you don't find it, you'll be faced with a lot of problems. Trust me, I know more than you do." Lin smiled.
"I know.. But how?"
"You'll need Xuan's help..."
Lun thought for a while before nodding.
"Lun, I've got to go now. I've finished what I have to say to you... Good luck. And.. Remember, take care of Xuan." Lin paused for a slight moment. "And.. Lun, I love you."
Biting his lips to stop his tears, Lun replied, "I love you too, Lin. I'll take care of Xuan. I promise..."
Lin smiled and pointed to the far end of the train station. Xuan was standing there, she was looking at her watch, as if waiting for someone. Xuan couldn't see Lin, in fact, Lun was the only one who could.
The next moment, when Lun looked back, Lin was gone. "Lin..." He whispered into the wind. Then he wiped his tears and walked towards Xuan.

Suddenly Lun's world swirled into darkness. And his blanket flew away as he awoke with a jolt. Then Lun got the shock of his life when he saw someone standing beside his bed.
Lun almost shouted when he realized that..
"Oh my God. Is this another dream?" He asked.
"No. This is the real world. Try pinching youself."
So Lun did, and "Owch! That hurts!"
Lin smiled. "I entered your dream just now. Everything I said, you've gotta remember. You have to find the key, Lun. Or else you and Xuan can never find happiness."
"I got it, Lin. I'll try my best."
"Don't try. You have to find it."
Lun nodded. "I will. No matter how hard it takes."
"That's good... Lun, this might be the last time you're seeing me. But whenever you miss me, remember, I'll be right beside you. I love you Lun." With that, Lin's spiritual form turned to leave.
Lun caught her hand. "Lin..."
Lin did nothing but smiled back at him. Then Lun's hand fell as Lin's hand slowly faded into the dark and he was holding on to nothing but the air.
Lun looked at the clock beside his bed. 02:02:02. Freaky time. Lun thought.
=I don't think I'm dreaming, am I? I can't believe this. Did Lin know I was missing her? Maybe that's why she came back. For Xuan's and my happiness, I shall find the key. I will find the key. Don't worry, Lin. I won't let you down again. You'll always stay in my heart. I love you Lin.=

Xuan knew it was Lun on the phone. She didn't want to pick it up but her hand just plucked the receiver out of the set out of its own accord.
"Xuan?" Lun's voice echoed through the phone.
Xuan remained silent.
"Xuan, I know you're there. I just wanna see you. I've got something to tell you. I'll see you at Stonecold at 9 tonight, okay? Please be there. I love you." Lun knew Xuan wasn't going to answer, so he just put down the phone.
=Stonecold? What is he up to again? At a beach too. Should I go?=
------------------------------------------------------------
=Better not get my hopes too high up. She probably doesn't even want to turn up. But I hope she will. Xuan... Please go...=
------------------------------------------------------------
Time crawled by for Lun, but not for Xuan. Lun was already waiting at Stonecold with more than an hour to go.
Xuan had spent her whole day trying to make up her mind whether to go or not.
Lun put his hand into his pocket, and touched the smooth velvety cover of the little exquisite box. He was staring out at the ocean. The small waves sloshed against the shore and rippled in the pale moonlight. Lun was nervous. As nervous as a guy who was about to propose could get.
The seconds ticked by, minutes flashed away, hours passed. Lun looked at his watch. 23:23:23. Lun sighed. Another freaky time. Xuan probably wasn't going to turn up already.
Disappointed, Lun turned to leave, when he saw a figure standing not too far away. Her long, reddish brown hair flapped against her face. The blue dress she was wearing flowed in the wind.
"Xuan." Lun breathed. She was here, finally. His wait hadn't gone to waste after all.
Xuan walked towards Lun, slowly. Lun thought she took forever to walk. Time just seemed to pass so quickly for him but the same couldn't be said for Xuan.
As the two of them stood facing each other, Lun could feel his heartbeat quickening. Thump-thump-thump. The sound rang out in his ears. He thought it was so loud Xuan could hear it.
"Xuan.." Lun started and before Xuan could say anything, he dropped to his knees on the soft sand, whipped out the small box and flipped it open. The ring glittered and shone in the moonlight. "Xuan, marry me."
