Someone screamed.I woke up,startled.I was so pissed off.All I wanted was a nice,good,morning sleep in this cozy atmosphere but I guess I’m asking for too much.
“Oh my God!!Is that true?!This is really freaking me out!!!”
“Yeah.It was in the news today.Here.See?It is true.That killer is going out of control!!Last night,seven people were killed!!”
Somehow,their conversation attracted me.In my sleepiness,I tried to eavesdrop to know what they were talking about.Turns out they were talking about the same old news except for the prey was another person.It’s about a crazy serial killer who kills innocent girls without mercy in the most scary way.Because of him,no one in my class would go out at night.The girls in my school,most of them are party animals but thanks to this killer,everyone has changed.Guess his existence does bring a little benefit.What am I talking about?!!Why am I complimenting this killer when I’m suppose to curse him and pray so that he would be caught???
Everybody was going crazy.They were screaming in horror.
“Students!!!Get back to your seats!!NOW!!”
The teacher was outside the classroom.His scream managed to control the students and so,they got back to their seats,not daring to make any more unnecessary noises.After the whole class was settled in,the teacher came into the class.Mr.Kim is a really scary teacher.Sometimes,I can’t help but to think that the students are more scared of him more than the serial killer.
“How many times do I have to tell you not to make unnecessary noise??Why can’t you understand!!We have a reputation here and you have the responsibility to protect the reputation.What will happen if people knew that the students here make noise which is not suppose to be disturbing??”
Everybody was silent.The silence was so comfortable.I almost fell asleep again but I was scared Mr.Kim would see me sleep so I kept my eyes open eventhough my soul went missing.
Mr.Kim was giving a ‘lecture’ again like he always does.Why does his lecture had to be about the same thing?I would listen-seriously-if he talked about something different than the school disciplines but he kept repeating the same old thing which made me even more sleepier.
“Genie!!You’re dead-meat,”Jerry whispered to me and chuckled.”Why would I be dead meat?And..stop calling me genie!!”I whispered back to him in the middle of lecture.”You’re falling asleep.”he whispered again.I muttered under my breath.
“Miss Shim!”
I was shocked.”Uh..yes..Mr.Kim?”I stood up.
“Do you intend to interrupt my small speech here?”
‘Small speech,my foot!’
“No,Mr.Kim.”I was mad and scared at the same time.
“Then why are you talking when I’m talking?That is very rude.Where are all you manners?”
“I apologize,Mr.Kim.”I looked down the whole time,not wanting to have an eye contact with him because that would be even more scarier than death-in my perspection.Even though I was sorry,I didn’t think I’m the one who’s in guilt.The annoying brat who turns out to be sitting beside me is the one who’s suppose to be scolded.I stared at Jerry,who couldn’t stop smiling.
“You better know you manners,Miss Shim.There is no tolerating next time.You’ll be expelled from this school immediately.Understand?”
‘WHAT!!’
I felt like screaming until my lungs pop out.This ain’t fair.I’m not suppose to be warned or scolded.Why?First,it’s not my fault that I was talking.Second,it was Mr.Kim’s fault for talking about the same old thing every single day.Who wouldn’t get tired of that?And third,if Jerry didn’t talk to me in the first place,I wouldn’t be in this crap.
I nodded,helplessly.I wish I could say what is on my mind.I wanted to tell him that I wasn’t entirely guilty.But,thanks to his ruthlessness,I couldn’t.
“You may sit down.Remember.You have to have good manners if you wish to stay in this school.This goes to all of you here.Do you get that?”
“Yes,Mr.Kim,”everyone in the class said,simultaneously.
“I can’t hear you!!”
“Yes,Mr.Kim!!!.”This time,it was more of a scream.
“Good.I shall leave now.Don’t be noisy.”
He left.Everyone exhaled.Seems like nobody was even brave enough to breathe during his presence.I was counting my pulse.It was fast,so fast that I couldn’t catch up.Even so,my sleepiness didn’t go away.I was still sleepy.I felt like I didn’t sleep for a few days but I did sleep.I never felt unsleepy,for some unknown reason.My parents thought it is a kind of disorder but they didn’t care much about it.
Mr.Choi came in just when I was about to sleep.Jerry didn’t disturb me after that.It was nice,but weird at the same time.Maybe he got sick of it.The lesson went on and as usual I ended up sleeping and Mr.Choi had to do his usual routine which is throwing the chalk right at my forehead to wake me up.He never misses the target.Everytime he threw the chalk,it’ll hit my head at the same spot.Now,my forehead is ‘big’ thanks to him.
I didn’t pay much attention to any teachers who came in after that.I didn’t sleep but I didn’t listen to anything they were talking about.Everytime the teachers ask me any questions regarding the topic he or she was teaching,I’ll be answering it correctly.It’s probably just my luck.
The bell rung.It’s time for lunch break.I quickly arrange my things and went out of the class.As usual,I went to the fire exit.No one would be using that way unless there is a fire.The only reason I was there is to have a nap.I lay on the floor,not caring whether my outfit would get dirty or not and went into my dream world in seconds.
When I woke up,a lot of people were beside me.Jerry was in front of me.He exhaled when I opened my eyes.It was weird because normally,nobody would be here.
“You almost killed me!!”Jerry screamed at me.’
“Huh?Why would I kill you?It’s true,you’re annoying and blah blah blah but it’s not like I want to kill you or something.”
“Aishh~”Jerry stood up and walked away.
My best friend,Taemin approached me when everybody was leaving the place.
“Taemin-a…what happened?Why was everyone here?”
“They thought you were dead.”
“EH!!!”Why is that?!”
Taemin giggled.”You were not breathing when you’re sleeping.It’s really weird.It’s like your lungs are gone.Seriously,you should check this issue with a doctor.You know,just to make sure your lungs are there.”
I laughed.
Taemin handed me a bottle of water.I was thirsty.Without hesitation,I took it from him.
”This is really a ‘hot issue’,eh?Wait…didn’t they listen to my pulse or something?”
“He did…but there was nothing.I told you.Your lungs and heart wasn’t beating.You were still quite warm to be a dead person but it’s really weird.So,he thought CPR might help a little.He was in the middle of CPR when you suddenly woke up.”
“Wait!CPR?Is that the breathing thingy,the lip-to-lip thing?”
Taemin nodded.”And he?Who’s that he?”I asked.
My expression changed.It couldn’t be.There is no way it could be him.
“Don’t tell me….It’s….Jerry??”
Taemin just nodded.I felt like screaming but my voice was stuck in my throat.
“Aren’t you coming?We’re gonna be late for class,”Taemin said when he was walking away.
“I don’t feel so good so you go ahead without me.”
“Okay,then.”Taemin left.
Once I’m perfectly sure that he was far enough,I ran to the washroom and goggled a lot of water.I washed my mouth until it hurts so much.I even used the hand wash to wash my mouth-it tastes horrible but I couldn’t think of other way to get rid of the ‘JERRY GERM’.
Suddenly,three girls came into the washroom.They all stared at me like I was a freak-I was,actually.No human being would wash his mouth with the soap which is used to wash hands.I didn’t let those girls interrupt my ‘wild,crazy mouth-washing technique’.I didn’t care much about my dignity here.I’m more concerned about getting rid of the ‘JERRY GERM’.
“Well,well,well…what do we have here?It’s the famous phsyco sleeper,”one girl said.I tried to ignore them.
“Oh..My..God!AH…She’s really a phsyco,washing her mouth using the hand wash!”another one said.
The three laughed simultaneously.That didn’t distract me the slightest bit.
“How disgusting….hey…wait…maybe she doesn’t have any money to buy a mouth wash!!”
‘That’s because there are no such thing as mouth washing soap or detergent,dumbass!well,maybe there is,but i dont think that is quite necessary except for people who have "bad mouth"’
“Right…she is the commoner who got lost in this school~Aww…so sad~”
They laughed again.Their laugh was really annoying so I wanted to get out of the washroom and wash my mouth somewhere else.I turn off the tap.As I was walking outside,one girl blocked the exit.
“Excuse me,I need to get out,”I said,not wanting to be rude.
“So?”The girl said with a very annoying look her face.
“Could you move a bit?You’re blocking the way.”I was trying to control my temper which is going to explode anytime.
‘Why can’t these people learn their lesson?I’m so sick of these kind of people’
Nah!I don’t feel like it.If you want to,make me.”They laughed again.
“Don’t laugh too much.You’ll end up losing your laugh box like Squidward.”
“Wh-What?”She sounds insulted.Good.That was my intention.I smiled in satisfaction.
“How dare you insult Princess Sulli?!!”her friend shouted.
‘Princess?Owh,please…More like a cockroach princess,yeah,that could be accepted.’
“I wasn’t trying to insult you or anything.I was just telling the truth.”
The so-called-princess(cockroach princess)was mad.I wanted to go out so badly and pushed her away.I walked pass the door but ended up being caught by her so-called-maid.
“What do you want,huh??!!”I shouted when my temper has escaped from the underground dungeon in my head.
“You...do you know where your place is in this school?You don’t belong here!Just because of some stupid scholarship you managed to get into this school but do you know where you’re suppose to be?In the dumpster!Actually…even the dumpster is too good for you!How dare you use those despicable words on me??!!”
She stepped on my foot that made me scream.
“Get down!And beg for mercy!Kiss my foot if you want me to forgive you.”
‘Her foot?This is being disgusting.’
“Kiss your foot?I won’t.What are you gonna do about it?”I said,smiling crookedly,eventhough I knew I shouldn't be doing that.
She was mad,obviously.The three of them started to kick me.I never realize the edge of my lip was bleeding.
“No one in the world would talk to princess like that!!Stupid commoner!!!You really want to die!!”
It’s just my style.Since I was a kid,I always like getting into trouble.Trouble has been my best friend.My parents always leave me alone in the house.They work outstation and rarely come home.So,I have been really lonely and frustrated.To pleasure my fragile heart,I make other people mad for no reason.In the end,I will end up having bruises all over my body.It has always been like that.
I closed my eyes,letting the girls torture me.My soul was dancing away(it doesn’t mean I was dieing)I stayed motionless.
“You never learn,do you?”The girl shouted and took my shoes off.
“What do you think you’re doing?!”I got pissed off by their action.I will be really mad if people touch my shoes even since I was young.It was weird at first but I got through the awkwardness after I grew up a little bit.
The so-called princess smiled crookedly.”Crys…do your thing.”
The other girl smiled back and took my shoes.”Don’t touch my shoes!!!”I screamed but it was pointless.Another girl,who went missing for a minute suddenly appeared out of nowhere with a rope.She tied me in a blink of an eye that I couldn’t stop her.The girl called Crys throwed my shoes into the toilet bowl.I wanted to stop her but I couldn’t move-I was tied firmly.My mouth was tied with a hankerchief.It was an expensive one-I can’t believe I actually could bother about whether the hankerchief was expensive or not.I struggled to get up.
“Now,now,now…get some sleep.You look tired.You need to rest.”
Crys sprayed something on my face.It stung me for a while.Then,I started to get dizzy and closed my eyes.The sound of their laugh was the last thing I heard before I lose my consciousness completely.
