“Ok, I think,” she said to herself and grabbed her stuff and went down to wait for Yoochun to pick her up. As soon she’s downstairs, she thought back of yesterday when Yoochun had asked her out.
-Flashback-
“Jes?” Yoochun called her when the bell had gone for the class session ends. She was there packing her books and stationeries into her backpack.
“Hmm? Yes?” Jessica looked at her side towards Yoochun. Her eyes blinked questioningly at him.
“Erm… I ahh… I… Aish…” he couldn’t speak out of what he wants to say. He’s feeling too nervous. Plus, it’s he’s first time feeling like this towards a girl.
“What is it, Yoochun? Your face is red. Are you sick?” she asked worriedly and felt his temperature on his wide forehead with back of her hand. “You’re kinda warm, you know.”
Yoochun could feel his temperature shot up even more when she touched him. “I… I’m… ok…” he stuttered. He took a few deep breaths.
“Why he’s so red and he’s even redder when I touched him,” she wondered. “I never see him behaving like this before too.”
“Wanna go dinner with me?” he asked in one shot. He looked down, embarrassed.
“What? I beg your pardon?” she couldn’t catch whatever he’s saying.
He took a deep breath again. “Would you like to go for dinner with me?”
“Oh… I…” she blushed a little. “Omo, he’s asking me out!” she shrieked mentally.
“Erm… is tomorrow night ok?” he asked again with his eyes shinning, full of sincere.
“Ok…” she replied.
“I’ll pick you up at your apartment then! And wearing something elegant,” he said excitedly.
Jessica nodded and blushed again.
-End Of Flashback-
Jessica smiled to herself when a white car approached her. She looked over and found a very handsome Yoochun in the car waving at her. Then, she walked over and get into the car.
“You’re very beautiful this evening,” Yoochun praised.
Jessica was wearing a white halter neck evening dress, match with a pair of silver heels and silver tote. Her shoulder length hair was a loose and tousled, giving a wavy look.
Jessica blushed a little. “Well, you look very suave yourself,” she replied while eyeing his black suit with matching pants and white shirt with ruffled details on it. Even his black leather shoes shone in the darkness.
Suddenly, “Thank you,” both of them said at the same time. They looked at each other and giggled.
…
“The food is great. Thanks, Yoochun,” Jessica said while Yoochun was driving.
“Yeah, it is great. The owner is one of my father’s best friends. He’s the chef.”
“Wow, I wish I can cook a great as him. I love cooking.”
“Next time I’ll come over to your house to taste your cooking then,” he chuckled.
“Sure, but make sure you do prepare yourself with lots of water,” she replied, giggling.
Yoochun confused and looked at her a while. “Why?”
“Because I love spicy foods. The level of spiciness of my cooking is really high, so you better prepare yourself,” she giggled again.
“She’s cute when she giggle,” Yoochun thought. “Hey, I’m bringing you to river side. The scenery there is beautiful,” he said.
“Oh ok. I never go around Seoul after I transferred from America,” she smiled.
“Which part of America you’re staying? I used to stay at Virginia for 5 years before I came back here.”
“You used to stay at America? No wonder your English is good. I’m at San Francisco.”
“Are you born there?” Yoochun asked.
“Yup,” she replied shortly, smiling at Yoochun.
“I guess your parents do educate you well on how to converse in Korean,” Yoochun looked at her again and replied her smile.
“Yeah, and I can read and write too. All thanks to my mum.” Then she looked at the side and exclaimed, “Wow! This place is totally beautiful!”
Yoochun laughed at her cuteness. “This is where we’re going to visit.”
Both of them got out from the car and took a deep breath of cool and fresh air. Then, they slowly walked side by side along the river, taking in the scenery.
Yoochun on the other hand, attempt to hold Jessica’s hand when she’s not aware of it but fail as she move and hold her tote using both hands. “Aish, that’s close enough. Oh god, I do pray that let me have a chance to hold her hands,” Yoochun prayed silently.
As if the god had listen to his prayers, Jessica accidentally tripped over a pothole on the road and fell. “Ahhh!” she screamed but Yoochun’s fast actions had saved her.
“Are you ok?” he asked frantically while holding her in his strong arms. Before she could reply, he carried her in bridal way and walked over to a swing. Slowly, he put her down on the swing and began to check on her for wounds.
“Yoochun ah, I’m ok,” she called him softly. But Yoochun kept on checking her until he touched her sore spot. “Ahhh…” she moaned painfully when he touched her left ankle.
“Oh, I’m so sorry. It’s a sprain,” he carefully turn her ankle.
“Ahhh!!! No! Stop!” she painfully exclaimed.
“Don’t worry. I know how to deal with sprains. Just hold on,” he assured her.
Jessica nodded. Yoochun turn and twist again. She grabbed hold of the chain of the swing and squeezed her eyes shut. A few moments later, the pain was gone. Jessica panted and tried to move her ankle gingerly. She smiled.
“There you go. You only get the painful moments a while if you treat it immediately,” Yoochun smiled and got up and sat beside her.
“Thanks and sorry for the trouble,” she looked down, playing the hem of her dress.
Yoochun smiled and took her hands. Jessica was surprised and looked at him. “You don’t have to say all this. I wanna protect you and love you with all my heart,” he said softly.
Jessica stared deep into his brown eyes to find any lies in it but fail. “Looks like he’s saying this for real,” she thought.
Yoochun held her hand tighter and asked, “Would you be my lover?”
Jessica smiled blissfully and nodded. Yoochun hugged her and inhale her scent. “You’re the angel of my heart…” he whispered.
The words struck Jessica hard. “Where did I hear this before?” But she shook the feelings away and hugged him back. “I’m with you, always…” she whispered back.
The same thing happened to Yoochun. He twitched a little when he heard her words. Slowly, he let go and brought her face close to his. “I love you…”
They kissed passionately and their hands intertwined. Then, flashes of their past repeat itself in their head.
…
“Hi, I’m Yoochun. Nice to meet you.”
“Hi. You can call me Kyul. Nice to meet you too,” Jessica smiled at him.
…
“Shut up! I don’t wanna listen! You’ve…” Jessica broke down and cried again.
“Yesterday you fainted because you had fever. I’ve got no choice but to change your wet clothes. Please, believe me! I’ve done nothing bad to you and I will never do that to you. You’re my closest friend. Remember that night? I’ve said that to you, Kyul…” he banged for the last time. Tears began to fill his eyes. “Believe me…”
She opened the door. My eyes were red and puffy. He looked up and held her hands. “I’m so sorry, Kyul. Please believe me.” His tears flowed down his cheeks. “I never do that to you…” he sobbed. Then he wiped the tears off each others face.
“I…believe you,” she looked deep into his eyes. “You’re…” she stopped there, not ready to spill everything she kept in her heart.
He hugged her. Her eyes widen due to shockness and also happiness. “Ever since I first met you, I’ve thought that I’ve gone mad, fallen in love with a guy,” he whispered. She was speechless. “Now I know. I’m not a gay. I’m a normal guy. I wanna tell you this for a long time. I love you. Truly, madly, deeply in love with you, Kyul.”
He released her. She looked deeply into his eyes. His eyes full of happiness and hope. “Yoochun, I’ve holding this for a long time too. I love you too,” she smiled at him.
…
Jessica whispered, “I love you.” He caressed her arms lovingly till she fall asleep in his embrace. “I’m yours and you’re mine. Forever,” he whispered and closed his eyes.
…
Jessica woke up with a familiar voice beside me. She felt my left hand was wet. There was someone sobbing beside me. She slowly opened her eyes, trying to get used to the brightness of the room. Then she slowly turned to her left, where the source of the sound came from. Yoochun was holding her hand, sobbing and begging her to wake up.
“Chunnie ah…” she croaked.
He looked up, revealing very red and puffy eyes. He was thinner than before and looked like a living corpse. He pressed a button above her head to call some help. Then, he cupped her face. “Jes, I’m glad that you wake up finally. It’s been a week since you came in here,” he sobbed.
She felt almost like crying looking at the man she loves so much. “Babo. I’m ok. Don’t worry. I’m gonna recover real fast. Don’t cry. I promise you that I’ll cook more yummy food for you ok?” Her voice was barely a whisper. “I promise you, Chunnie. As long as I lived,” she thought.
“Ok.” He forced out a smile.
Dr.Lee came in with a nurse. “Ahh… Jessica, you’re awake? Good. Mr.Park? Can you go out for a moment? I need to check on her,” he asked politely.
“Of course. I’ll be back later.” He squeezed her hand and went out.
“Jessica, how you’re feeling?” Dr.Lee asked as he took out his usual instruments to check me.
“Dr.Lee, can you tell me how much longer I am going to survive?” she croaked.
He looked at me with his sad face. “Not much longer. At least 3 months. But if you don’t do anything vigorous, you’ll survive longer. But I think you better spend some quality time with your family and friends. I can’t guarantee your heart won’t attack again.”
“Thanks for your advice. I’ll make sure that I’m gonna give them memorable time.”
“But Mr.Park seemed not knowing about your condition,” looking out through the curtains. Yoochun was pacing up and down but he was smiling happily. Probably glad that I’m going to recover.
“Please don’t tell him anything. I’ve even told the others not to tell him about my condition. I wanted to confess to him myself,” she begged him.
Looking at her for being so forlorn and weaker by days, he nodded curtly.
…
Jessica sang the song with full emotions, letting a tear rolled down her cheek. The crowd applauded and shouted.
…
As Jessica listen to him singing this beautiful song, she placed her head by his side. Throughout the song, she was totally speechless. “God, if you want to take me away, do it now. I wanted to be like this, by my lover’s side,” she prayed silently. A single tear dropped onto Yoochun’s hand while he took her’s when he’s still singing.
…
They sat on the same spot, on the swing. As they settle down, Yoochun wrapped her in his arms. “Chunnie ah… you’re so warm. I love being in your arms…” her voice was barely a whisper. She was getting weaker by minute.
He smiled sadly. “I love you, Jessica. I always love you…” He kissed her head and buried his face in her neck, smell the scent of his beloved.
“Remember, I’m with you. I’m always with you, wherever you go, even I’m gone…”
“Yes…” he replied. They kissed for the last time.
“I love you, Park Yoochun…” It started snowing when she whispered the last words and breathed for the last time.
“I love you forever…” his tears flowed down his cheek like the river. He held her lifeless body closer to him.
…
He kept going back to our place. The place where had most of their meaningful memories. The place where she had left him. The place where her ashes were slowly carried away by the river. She had her dying wish.
He was sitting on the swing motionless. He stared straight up the sky, wondered if she’s happy up there.
He closed his eyes. Then, he saw many flashes. He saw her again. She’s smiling sweetly at me. He was too happy.
He opened his eyes again. He knew it’s true. She’s there in the river waving at him, smiling so sweetly.
“Oh, I miss you so much. I’m coming for you…”
Unconsciously, he got up and walked slowly towards the river. He was dazed looking at his beloved in the river, waving at him again.
“Wait for me, my darling. I’m coming for you…”
He walked deeper into the river. Waters were rushing into his mouth and nose. But still he plunged himself in…
I’m with you… Forever…
…
They broke the kiss, gasping for breath. Jessica opened her eyes in bewilderment. Yoochun too and with tears in his eyes.
“Jessica, I believed that we truly belong to each other. I had flashes of you in our past life,” Yoochun sobbed.
Jessica nodded. “Yes, me too.” She hugged him. “I’m so happy that we’re together now,” she said with her crystal clear tears flowing down.
They let go of each other and stare deeply into each other’s eyes.
“This place here, is where most of our memories is. Now, in present life, we’re going to fill it again but with another story,” Yoochun whispered huskily.
“A happy story,” Jessica smiled.
Under the tree, on the swing, they kissed passionately with heaven’s smile bestowed on them.
May they meet again in far future.
