“Friday night,” Qiao En sat happily in the backseat for the last day of school that week.
“Why are you so excited,” asked Shao Wei.
“It’s the first Friday night of the spring. The pubs would be full of people and music, drinks and cute guys,” Qiao En smiled to herself.
“You’re not going,” answered Shao Wei.
“Why not,” Qiao En demands.
“Part of our deal is that you don’t get yourself into any bad new with the opposite sex,” Shao Wei reminds her.
“I’m going to a bar, not sleeping with a guy,” Qiao En snapped.
“Can you promise,” Shao Wei turned to look at her at the green light.
Qiao En pointed at him in fury. “You…you…”
“You’re going to drive me insane. I have been home every night for the past month,” Qiao En pleads.
“So one more night wouldn’t be a big difference,” Shao Wei continued to drive.
Qiao En made a face, “Ren Fu…” she nagged at her now protector.
“It wouldn’t hurt to let her go,” he turns to Shao Wei.
“You’re supporting her,” he asked.
“Well, we can go with her if you want to make sure,” Ren Fu adds.
“I don’t want to go to a pub with him,” Qiao En made a face.
“You either take it or lose it, your choice,” Shao Wei gave in.
“Fine,” Qiao En sighed and sat back.
“We’ll stay at least five meters away from you,” Ren Fu adds.
“I know my big bro is the nice one. Unlike someone,” Qiao En wrapped her arms around the seat and around Ren Fu’s shoulders.
“Hey, I can take that back,” Shao Wei pointed out.
“I know, mean Soaw Soaw (mean sister-in-law),” Qiao En rolled her eyes as she sat back in her seat.
Ren Fu laughed at her expression.
Qiao En got dressed in her best outfit. She smiling walked down to the two guys waiting for her. “Qiao En, really pretty,” Ren Fu smiles at her.
“What the hell are you dressed for?” Shao Wei snapped. “Do you even remember our agreement…”
“Would you shut up about that damn agreement? Your mother isn’t even in Taiwan, how is she ever going to know!” Qiao En yelled louder.
“What if she comes back and finds you in that. Then our work for the past few weeks would have been a waste,” Shao Wei answered her.
“Okay, “Ren Fu stepped in to separate them. He looked at Qiao En, “You want to go out right?” Then he turned to Shao Wei, “Look, this once and she would be happy and quiet for at least a week.”
The two quieted down.
They left and went to a small bar. It was loud and smelled of smoke. “I can’t believe she would actually like be in such as place,” Shao Wei comments.
“You’re just not used to this place, “Ren Fu answered, taking a sip of his drink.
Suddenly a girl approached him. “Hello, would you mind buying me a drink?”
“Yes he would mind,” Shao Wei loomed over him protectively.
Ren Fu smiled at her girl sheepishly. The girl walked away. He turned back to Shao Wei with a happy smile and reached for his hand.
After a month of being on a route, Qiao En let herself go. She dance and had a happy time. If she didn’t want to design so bad, she would have left the Wang house a long time ago. “Qiao En, is that really you,” someone tapped her.
Qiao En turned to the person.
“It is you,” A girl hugs her.
Qiao En froze. “Joanna, how have you been?” She forced herself to say. Qiao En’s eyes rested on the guy behind Joanna.
“Why did you just disappear? We have all been looking for you.”
Qiao En thought for a moment. “Just lost track of time,” Qiao En lied.
“Well, you must come to our wedding. Ming Dao and I would love for you to come, “She smiled. “Right, Ming Dao,” she turned around and pulled Ming Dao up next to her.
Qiao En nods without a soul. “I have to go…”
“Wait, give me your address first so that I can mail you the invitation,” Joanna took out a small notebook, Qiao En empty-mindedly wrote down the Wang’s address.
Qiao En then quickly walked away. As she turned away from the crowd she bumped into someone. “You ready to go,” Shao Wei’s voice demanded.
Qiao En looked up in surprise.
“Qiao En,” Ren Fu came over to them. “You okay?”
“Yeah,” answered Qiao En, “Lets go.”
