Chapter 11

Accident...?

I turned around and saw Gui Gui. I spat out the water in my mouth. It didn’t hit her, though it should’ve, it was aimed back at the fountain. Then I began to choke on the remains of the water. “Wei!” Gui Gui exclaimed, “why’d you do that?! I was about to drink from that fountain!” “Well...” I began, “find another.” She aimed a punch at me, but I caught her wrist. “Never aim from the side,” I told her, “or swing from the side. You must only do that, when they’re jabbing at you. When they DO jab at you, you're best shot would be to duck, and then go for an uppercut. If they’re not punching you, you should just go for a jab.” She ignored me, but she STARED at my hand, holding onto her wrist. I laughed and dropped her wrist. “Why’d you come?” I asked her. Gui Gui smiled, “I VOLUNTEERED to come get you. You took SO long! What were you doing?” “Drinking water,” I remarked, “that’s what I asked to come for.”
(End of Wang Zi P.O.V)
I looked him up and down. “Why does it take you so long just to drink water?” “It wasn’t long,” he argued back, “you just thought it was long, because you felt bored in class. Not to mention how IMPATIENT you are.” He smiled a mocking smile, but I was saddened. “You don’t know how I feel,” I replied, “no one understands how I feel.” Wang Zi stopped smiling, and leaned SO close to me, that I could feel his breath in my face. My heart thumped SO fast, I thought I was having a heart attack, and my face was SO red...i just hoped he didn’t notice. Then it finally happened, my knees felt SO weak, as if I didn’t even have knees to hold me up. I felt lightheaded, and I collapsed.
(Wang Zi’s P.O.V)
Wow, I can't believe she actually collapsed. FULLY conscious and all, its not like she had FAINTED and went unconscious. She was WIDE awake. The weird thing was...i caught her. I don’t even remember how it happened, or WHY it happened. I only remembered...my face, not far from hers, and I said, “You’d be surprised to find out how much I know.” Then I set her on her feet, and I led us back to class.
I sat in my seat, just as Gui Gui sat in hers. The class fell into whispers, and her friends whispered something to her. Liu Liu Rong Jia walked through the door and over to her seat. I don’t remember her leaving for any purpose...she probably did something stupid. I felt something hit my arm, it probably flew from Ao Quan them. I turned around, “What do you want?” “What happened?” Ao Quan asked. “Yea,” Xiao Yu added. “Don’t try to pretend nothing happened,” Ah Wei remarked. “Nothing happened,” I said, ignoring Ah Wei’s remark. I turned back to the table, and continued to study the chemical that was set on my table, in a beaker. Ms. Ting was still measuring the chemicals into beakers, and handing them out to every two partner. “Tong Tong and Liu Liu Rong Jia,” she called out, “one of you guys please come up to get your chemical.” Tong Tong got up, but Liu Liu Rong Jia stopped her. “I’ll go get it,” Liu Liu Rong Jia said. It sounded more like she was pleading. I ignored it and continued to study as Aaron took notes on what Ms. Ting had written up on the board. Gui Gui continued to whisper back and forth with Ya Tou and Da Ya them. They seemed to have an ongoing conversation...and Gui Gui still manages such good grades... “Really,” I wondered, “how does she do it?” Xiao Jie (B) interrupted me, “Wei! Wang Zi! What are you thinking about?” “Mei you la,” I answered. “Really?” Ao Quan asked, “you're not even thinking about what happened before?” “What?” I asked. “Aiyo,” Wei Lian said, “don’t act like you don’t know what.” “Yea,” Ah Wei added, “we saw what happened.” “What happened?” I questioned, as Ms. Ting continued to pour chemicals into a beaker for Liu Liu Rong Jia. Aaron continued to take notes. “We saw,” Xiao Yu began. “And heard,” Ao Quan added. “Your whole conversation with Gui Gui,” Xiao Yu. “Wei,” I began, “how much did you hear-“ I didn’t get to finish my sentence, because Liu Liu Rong Jia walked by Gui Gui, and the tray, that held the two beakers, tipped. The chemicals, from the beakers that were made out of glass, spilled on Gui Gui. The beakers fell straight down...towards Gui Gui’s hand.
* * *
I placed my hand on over Gui Gui’s, and she looked up at me. EVERYONE in the class (even Ms. Ting) stared. Everything seemed to happen in slow motion...but yet, so quickly like a gunfire, I smiled at Gui Gui, so she wouldn’t see what was about to happen. She smiled up at me, and didn’t see the beakers fall at my hand. She didn’t see me catch the first one, or the second one (in between my fingers). All was not well...the tray fell on top of my hands, crushing the glass beakers as I held onto them. I felt the tray smash the two beakers; the two beakers crushing against each other, tearing my skin...TEARING my skin...how come I felt nothing? Not even when the blood, from my hand, soaked the glass and the remains of the beakers. The blood dripped on Gui Gui’s hand, underneath mine.
Then Gui Gui finally looked at my hand on her’s. The blood seeped out from my hand, and some of the chemicals from the beakers washed up against my hand as the tray hit the floor with a loud *Bang*. Everyone still stared at the blood...pouring out from my hand, but Gui Gui didn’t hesitate. She pulled her, left, uninjured hand out from under my hand. Her right hand held onto my right wrist, as her left hand brushed away the remains of glass on my right hand that was bleeding. The glass that she was brushing away with her left hand also cut into her hand, but she ignored it. Liu Liu Rong Jia stepped away, not wanting to be involved in the ‘accident’ anymore. Aaron ran over to Gui Gui and kept telling her to stop, that she was cutting herself, but she didn’t care; she still continued to brush away the glass that covered my hand.
