Chapter 16
Wang...Zi...?
I woke up, and looked outside...no sun dared to come out today. Thick clouds swept over the sun, not letting even one ray from the sun, hit the sky.
Mei Mei them still weren't up yet. I got up to go get ready, but someone mumbled. “Gui Gui.” I looked down at Da Ya them, to see who had called my name... “Gui...” Xiao Jie mumbled again. I looked at her. “Wow,” I thought to myself, “she’s sleeptalking...” “Gui Gui,” she said again, “dui bu qi oh. I know we’re all best friends...but we’ve decided to keep a secret away from you.” I smiled down at her, although I knew she couldn’t see me. “It’s not like I care,” I mumbled low enough, so only I would hear myself, “unless its about someone I care about.”
“Oh,” Xiao Jie went on, “you DO care about him.” “She HEARD me?” I thought inside my head, “who’s ‘him’ that she’s talking about???” “Who...?” I asked quietly. “Wang Zi,” she answered. “Wang...Zi...?” I repeated to myself, “Wang...Zi...?”
Da Ya sat up in bed. “Gui,” Da Ya began, “who are you talking to?” “Oh,” I began, “I was just...mumbling to myself.” I laughed a fake and nervous laugh, hoping Da Ya wouldn’t know. “Oh,” Da Ya uttered. I nodded, “Come on, lets wake them up.” Da Ya smiled, “No need.” I looked at her, wondering what trick she had up her sleeve. She turned on the stereo and searched for the song Yi Er San Mu Tou Ren. Then she turned it on SO loud, Tong Tong them jumped out of bed. Da Ya and I laughed.
“I...” Xiao Jie began, “I feel...weird...” Da Ya and I continued to laugh. “Why?” Xiao Man asked. “I don’t...know...” Xiao Jie replied,” I just feel...like I've been sleeptalking.” “Aiyo,” Xiao Xun replied, “come on, lets just go get ready.”
The walk to school was too quiet...but this silence...gave me the time I needed, to think and ponder. I didn’t even know what I thought about, which thoughts did I ponder upon? ...Da Ya them must be keeping a really big secret, about Wang Zi, away from me...because...if it wasn’t such a huge secret, Xiao Jie wouldn’t talk in her sleep. And...they wouldn’t have cried yesterday... But...what do they know about Wang Zi? Why can't I know?
“Cai bu tou shi na li chu le cuo,” Da Ya began to sing.
Ya Tou: Lian ai de jin du-
Apple/Xiao Man/Ya Tou: You xie luo hou.
Xiao Jie: Ju xian bao shuo ni ye xi huan wo.
Xiao Xun: Zen me hui hai wu dong yu zhong.
(I walked silently...still pondering on my thoughts.)
Tong Tong: Gui Gui.
Me: Hm...?
Da Ya: Why didn’t you sing?
Me: Huh?
Mei Mei: It was your turn to sing.
Me: Oh...dui bu qi. I was just thinking...
Xiao Xun: What do you think about?
Me: ...The past, the future, the present.
Da Ya: Gui Gui...what runs in that head of yours?
(I continued to walk quietly.)
Me: Da Ya...
Da Ya: Yea?
Me: What...do you know?
Da Ya: About what?
Me: [thinking] She forgot it already? Or...did she just pretend to forget?
Me: Oh...nevermind.

“Good morning, Ms. Ting!” the class greeted, as usual. I forgot to greet her today, and she noticed. “Gui Gui,” Ting began, “what’s wrong? Is everything alright?” I looked up from my desk, “Huh? Oh, yea. Everything’s fine. Its GREAT!” I faked out a really weak smile, as Liu Rong Jia and her friends glared at me. “Sorry for interrupting the class,” I went on, “dui bu qi.” Ms. Ting smiled, “Gui Gui, you are SUCH a nice person! I'm so glad I got you in my class!” Da Ya them laughed but Liu Rong Jia uttered, “Psh!” I ignored Liu Rong Jia, as I muttered, “Why does she (Ms. Ting) bother me when I don’t greet her...but she doesn’t care when Wang Zi does it.” Wang Zi looked at me and laughed (at me). “Uh-oh,” I thought to myself, “he heard me.” I looked the opposite way and Tong Tong them glared at me. “Damn,” I thought, “I can't turn to any direction! If I turn to my right, Da Ya will glare at me, then ask me what’s wrong. If I turn to my LEFT, Wang Zi and Aaron will glare at me, and they’ll figure me out. I can't even look forward! If I do, Ya Tou will question me! Aiyo!” I decided to just look down at my desk.
“ok,” Ting finally said, “because of the accident yesterday, we will no longer do the lab in class. You guys will have to study and prepare yourself for the test on Friday, by yourself, and on your own free time.” The whole class groaned. “Now,” Ting began, “we will be reviewing odes in class.” “Odes?” I mumbled. “Odes are like poems, but they’re dedicated to someone or something,” Aaron whispered to me. “Oh,” I uttered, “well you should explain it better next time.” “At least he knew what it meant,” Wang Zi barged in, “HOW are you so smart? You don’t even know what odes are.” Aaron high fived him, and then they laughed at me. “Tsh,” I mumbled, “how immature. Why do I have to have you guys as my science partners?” they ignored me and they continued laughing.
I glared at the both of them, laughing at me. “Ugh,” I thought as I turned away, “how annoying.” I don’t even know how they got along, or WHY they get along. I glanced over at them again, from the corner of my eye. “Why...” I thought to myself, “why does Aaron look so familiar?”
