Chapter 17
Assassinator
The sky only grew darker, by the end of school. “Aiyo,” I thought to myself, “it better not rain! I forgot my jacket, it better not rain!”
I made my way towards Wang Zi and Aaron. They were talking about the science test, I think, because I heard Aaron say, “What do you think will be on the test?” “Wei!” I interrupted, “what are you two talking about?” “Oh,” Aaron began, “Wang Zi and I decided on the studying schedule.” “Studying... schedule?” I repeated. Aaron looked over at Wang Zi, trying to let him answer, but he didn’t. So Aaron decided to answer, “Since i'm busy after school on some days, you have to study after school with Wang Zi, and I’ll study with you in the morning, when we get to school.” “Wei!” I exclaimed, “why do you guys decide this without telling me!? I have a life too!” Wang Zi smiled, “Well it didn’t seem like it.” I made eye contact with him, and tried my best to hold my ground. “Looks can be deceiving,” I answered. Wang Zi smiled, “Wo zhi dao.” Aaron jumped in between us, “Ok. Come on, let’s get studying!” I pulled my gaze away from Wang Zi. “Alright,” Wang Zi remarked, “I'm going to go get my book from my locker.” “Ok,” Aaron began, “I guess I need to get going now.” And just like that, the two walked off. “Tsh,” I uttered, “I have a life too, and now I'm going home.” I walked home.
I really didn’t want to go home yet. There was no one waiting for me, no one to ask happily, “How’s your day?” No one to give me a sincere smile, instead of a fake smile.
I decided to go to my favorite place, the coffee shop. They didn’t only serve coffee, they served a different variety of drinks. My favorite was the Brown sugar macchiato! It gives me a warm feeling from the bottom of my heart. I walked into the shop, and ordered a macchiato drink, with brown sugar. There was also another guy who ordered a plain coffee drink. I laughed quietly to myself, and walked out to discover that it was raining.
“Aiyo,” I exclaimed, “I can't believe I jinxed myself! Stupid rain!” I stepped in puddles that soaked its way into my shoes. The water chilled the bottom of my feet, but I wasn’t worried about that right now. I was cold, and I wanted to get home. It was such a long walk home, so I decided to wait for a taxi. I stood at the side of the road, waiting for a taxi, when the guy from the coffee shop stood not very far from me. He was probably waiting for a taxi too. He sipped his coffee, slowly, afraid to burn his tongue or something like that, I guess.
I still held onto my macchiato, I didn’t want to drink from it yet. I was waiting until I got home to drink it; I wanted this drink to last, not to mention I paid so much for it, too!
I stood in the ice-cold rain. Every drop that fell on my skin seemed to have sinked into my skin, and chill me to my bones. It began to rain HARDER, and the wind wasn’t helping me. It only made it worse. I SWEAR, I thought the temperature dropped to zero degrees!
I watched the corner, hoping for a taxi to show up, but it didn’t. I pulled out my cell phone, but it was dead. “Aiyo!” I exclaimed. I was about to go back into the coffee store, but I saw something that caught my eye. It was a limo! And it was headed for the coffee shop! Then I realized, it wasn’t just ANY limo! It was the PRESIDENT’S limo! The car stopped, and the president got out. He went inside the coffee shop! I didn’t know the president would actually go into the coffee shop! The guy from before, the one that bought the plain coffee, he dropped his coffee as the president came out from the shop. Then he (the guy that bought the plain coffee) reached into his jacket, and pulled out a gun. He pointed it right at the president! The president didn’t even have any bodyguards with him! So I did what any normal girl would do, (haha, NOT) I dropped my macchiato, forgetting how much I had used on it, and jumped at the guy with the gun. I pulled him backwards, towards me. And his bullet, which was ORIGINALLY aimed for the president’s skull, went flying into the dark and rainy sky.
The man hit the cement pavement with a loud *Thud!* I knelt down, took the gun out of the guy’s hand, and pointed it at him. “You wouldn’t do it,” he remarked. I smiled, “Wanna find out?” I pulled on the trigger, and out came a loud *BANG!* from the gun. The man winced, but I had aimed the shot at the pavement.
I got up and walked over to the president, who was now surrounded by his bodyguards. I handed the gun to one of the bodyguards. “Xie xie,” the president thanked. “Oh,” I began, “its okay. No problem.” The president motioned for the bodyguards to go get the man who tried to assassinate him. “Well,” the president went on, “are you okay?” I smiled, “Uh...yea.” He looked down at my hand, still bandaged from the ‘accident’ Liu Rong Jia Liu Rong Jia had caused, and I looked at it too. It was all red, stained with blood._______________________
