Chapter 19

Brown Sugar Macchiato

(Still Wang Zi’s P.O.V)
She must be stupid if she thinks I won't realize that she’s crying, her eyes tell all. Eyes don’t lie.
I opened the door to the coffee shop, and Gui Gui followed behind me. I let go of her wrist that I had been holding onto with my right hand.
“Here,” I said as I handed Gui Gui the umbrella, “close it, since you won't let me use my right hand.” “Wow,” Gui Gui remarked, “I didn’t think you’d actually LISTEN!” She laughed as she took the umbrella out of my hands. “You must be dumb if you actually think I didn’t use my right hand,” I laughed back at her, “it was the hand that held onto your wrist.” “Wei!” she yelled at me. I ignored her and went over to the counter and I ordered a coffee.
(End of Wang Zi’s P.O.V)
I walked over to the counter, next to Wang Zi and I ordered a macchiato drink, with brown sugar. Wang Zi glared at me like I was crazy; I smiled at him and mumbled, “Its better than coffee.” He ignored me as he sipped from his coffee. “Where do you want to go?” he asked. “Anywhere...” I asked. Wang Zi nodded and after I got my order of brown sugar macchiato, I took him by his arm and dragged him out of the place.
There was a limo outside, waiting for us. Wang Zi motioned for me to get inside, so I did, and he followed after. The driver was the bodyguard from before that caught Wang Zi’s cell phone. “Where to?” he asked. Wang Zi was still looking out the window when he pointed at me. “Oh,” I began, “back to school please.” The driver nodded and drove out of the parking lot. “Xie xie,” I thanked him.
I got out of the car, and Wang Zi followed. We were halfway to the entrance of the school, when I heard a noise that came from the inside of the school. I grabbed onto Wang Zi’s arm. “What,” he began, “don’t tell me you're SCARED.” I nodded as I squeezed tighter onto his arm. “Why are you scared?” he asked, “your name means ghost.” I let go of my grip on his arm. “Just because my name means ‘ghost’,” I began, “doesn’t mean I can't be scared of something!” He stared at me, “You really ARE weird.” I smiled, “Xie xie, that would the reason why I was named ‘Gui Gui’!” I pushed him away, and I continued to walk. “Why are we back at school?” Wang Zi asked, “did you leave your book in class again?” I turned around, and kicked up water at him, “No, I didn’t leave my book in class! I DID leave the umbrella in the car though...but I brought you back here to show you my favorite place at school.”
I led him to the fountain, and I sat the edge. Wang Zi walked over to me, and joined me. Our backs facing the fountain. I sipped from my macchiato drink. “The fountain is your favorite place at school?” Wang Zi asked. I nodded, “Yep!” I held out my macchiato drink to him. “You want some?” I asked happily. “Why are you still happy, when its so cold?” Wang Zi asked. I smiled, “Brown sugar macchiato! It makes me happy whenever I drink from it!...So...you want some?” Wang Zi glared at me. “Come on!” I went on, “you know you want it!” “Gui Gui,” he began, “you really DO have a weird attitude. It switches around 360 degrees.” “Want some?” I continued to ask as I held out the drink to him. He didn’t answer for a while, then he slowly took the drink out from my hands. He looked at me with an ‘Are you serious?’ face, and I smiled at him, urging him to drink from it. He took a deep breath, then he took a little sip from the brown sugar macchiato drink. Wang Zi began to choke, then he coughed for a while. “Why does it taste so weird?” he asked. I laughed at him, “I know! My dad told me that the drink is like love. It resembles love! When you’ve first tried it, it’ll be weird, and you won't get used to it. But...once you’ve learned to adapt to it, it can bring you happiness!” Wang Zi smiled, “In a weird way...it makes sense.” He kept taking sips from my drinks. “Wei!” I exclaimed, “I want my drink back!” Wang Zi ignored me. I laughed at him, then I stopped. “Oh my god,” I thought to myself, “indirect kiss! Wow!” I continued to laugh so much, I couldn’t stop myself. Wang Zi stopped drinking and stared at me. He began to laugh too, so we were both laughing. I looked up at the sky it had stopped raining!
When we had finally stopped laughing, Wang Zi handed me my drink back. I took a sip from it, and stood up. Wang Zi stood up after me. “Its about time we leave,” Wang Zi said. I nodded, “Yea.”
We walked back to the limo, and it took me home. “Wei,” I began, “how do you guys know where I live?” The driver laughed, “What do you think? It’s the president.” We arrived at the front of my house; I got out of the car. “Xie xie,” I thanked the driver. I turned to look at Wang Zi. “Xie xie,” I thanked him, “xie xie for accompanying me.” He just nodded, and I shut the door. Then I made my way up to the front doorsteps.
I opened the door and noticed that Ma and Pa weren't even home yet. I walked inside the dark and lonely room, closing the door behind me. I tossed my backpack to its usual corner, and I ran upstairs to my room. I headed to the balcony, and sat on the rail, in the dark. “Everything that happened...was it...a dream?” “Just for today...” I quoted, “meaning...never again.” I looked up at the sky, at my stars. “Never again...” I repeated, “if it was only a ‘one time’ thing...why didn’t I seize the moment? How will I know it wasn’t just a mere dream?” I took a deep breath, then exhaled. “Pa grandpa,” I began, “will you guys be my witnesses?” I stared up at the three stars, two of them blinked with happiness, the other one blinked constantly, as if it was crying... Why haven't I ever noticed the third star???
My thoughts got interrupted by a phone call. *Ring! Ring!!*
