Chapter 20

Bodyguard?!

(Recap)
I stared up at the three stars, two of them blinked with happiness, the other one blinked constantly, as if it was crying... Why haven't I ever noticed the third star???
My thoughts got interrupted by a phone call. *Ring! Ring!!*
(End of Recap)

Me: Wei?
Other line: Gui Gui?
Me: Yea, who wants to know?
Other line: This is Robert.
Me: Robert...? What? I don’t know you...
Robert: Aiyo...how do I say this...? I'm the bodyguard that drove you and young master.
Me: OH! Ni hao!
Robert: Ok, well, Mr. Qiu (Wang Zi’s Dad)-
Me: The president???
Robert: Yes, he told me to call you, to inform you that me and young master-
Me: You mean, young master and I.
Robert: Huh?
Me: Oh, just had to correct you on your grammar. Haha, dui bu qi.
Robert: Anyways, young master an I will come pick you up tomorrow morning.
Me: Young...master...? You mean Wang Zi?
Robert: Yes, young master, that’s how we address him.
Me: Oh, he probably doesn’t want you guys to address him that way. Haha.
Robert: Yes, he told us to stop addressing him like that, but we’re just used to it.
Me: Hahaha, I was right. Well....i’ll get up early tomorrow and wait for you guys to come. So...WHY are you guys picking me up? I have school.
Robert: Of course, we know that, but I was told to come pick you up, because Mr. Qiu wanted to talk to you. Not to mention there’ll be a LOT of people outside your house, that’s why I was told to bring young master along.
Me: Oh...i guess that would answer my next question. So...is...that...it?
Robert: Yes.
Me: Ok. I have to go get ready to go to sleep now. Bye.
I hung up, then I got ready to go to sleep.
*Flashback*
“Go fetch your brother.”
“But-but...i can't, its impossible.”
“GO FETCH YOUR BROTHER.”
“I...CAN'T...! Please don’t make me.”
“Get out. I don’t want you back until you have your brother. I can spare you, I CAN'T spare him.”
“Wo-“
“GO! GET OUT.”
*End of Flashback*
I immediately woke up after that dream of the past. Its was still dark out. I glanced at the alarm clock, but it was STILL broken. So I switched my cell phone on, 5:37 a.m. I got out of bed, then I got ready.
Just after I had gotten ready, my cell phone rang. *Ring! Ring!!*
Me: Wei?
(I recognized Wang Zi’s voice)
Wang Zi: Hurry up, we don’t have all day. We have to go to school after you meet up with my dad.
Me: Huh?
I walked out, onto the balcony, and looked down. There was a HUGE crowd of people! Wang Zi got out from the limo. “I’ll come get you,” he said over the phone. “Uh-huh,” I replied. Then I hung up and ran downstairs, hoping Ma and Pa wouldn’t be at the door already...Too late. Damn. Pa stood in the doorway with Wang Zi. SO many people were crowded behind them! Ma sat on the couch, watching T.v. She was watching the news, and the news was playing what had happened yesterday...when I jumped the assassinator.
“Aiyo,” I mumbled, I didn’t want Ma and Pa to begin to question me, so I ran over to Wang Zi. “HURRY up,” I urged, “we don’t have all day.” Wang Zi and I pushed passed the big crowd of people and got inside the limo.
The sun showed across the clear blue sky, as we drove up to the president and Wang Zi’s house. It was HUGE! It had three stories, a big front, a big driveway, and two or three other limo. Some cars trailed behind our limo. Reporters got out from their cars, and made their way over to thr front gate, where the president stood waiting.
Wang Zi and I got out from the limo, “Xie xie,” I thanked Robert for the drive. Wang Zi and I walked over to the president, he smiled, “Xie xie for coming, Gui Gui.” I smiled back at the president, “Ni hao.” Wang Zi just stood there, on the other side of me. “Why...am I here...?” I asked the president. He laughed, “I wanted to thank you for saving my life.” “So...” I went on, “why are there so many reporters here?” Wang Zi cutted in, “He wanted to thank you WORLDWIDE.” “Oh,” I mumbled, “ok...”
* * *
After the reporters were dismissed, the president invited me inside. Wang Zi still stood where he was. “You too, Wang Zi,” the president said. “Alright, ok,” Wang Zi uttered.
The house was even BIGGER than the outside! Stairs surrounded the place, furniture placed in every room, tiled floor, the ceiling was about 35 feet high from the ground, and bodyguards stood in every room. Probably not in SOME though. The hallway seemed to go on forever! The president turned right, into the living room (one out of about SIX). “What would you like this morning?” the president asked, “what do you usually have for breakfast?” “Oh...” I thought, “usually...i just have juice.” “Why?” he went on, “to keep fit?” Wang Zi began to choke in laughter. I glared at him, “Shut up.” I punched him on the arm, then I realized, his dad was right there. “Aiyo,” I began, “dui bu qi.” “It’s ok,” Wang Zi remarked, his dad laughed, then motioned for a bodyguard to come into the room, “Qi Wei,” the president began, “please go get a drink for Gui Gui.” Then the president turned to look at me, “What’ll you have?” “Uh...” I mumbled, “orange juice, and xie xie ni.” The president smiled at me, then he asked Wang Zi, “What’ll you have?” “Mei you,” he said, “its okay.” I laughed at Wang Zi. Then Qi Wei left to go get me orange juice.
Not long after, he came back with my orange juice, and carefully handed it to me. “Xie xie,” I thanked him. Qi Wei smiled and went back to the corner where he stood.
“Gui Gui,” the president began, “i'm going to get straight to the point, since you guys are in a hurry.” I nodded, “Ok. Mr...President...?” “You can call me Mr. Qiu,” he said. “Oh,” I mumbled, “ok.” Wang Zi laughed at me, and GOD I wanted to hit him SO much. “Gui Gui,” he said again, “Will you be Wang Zi’s bodyguard?” “WHAT!?!?” Wang Zi and I said at the same time. I pointed a finger at Wang Zi and he pointed a finger at me, too. “Her!?” Wang Zi began, “WHY? If you told ME to be HER bodyguard, it’d make more sense.” “TSH!” I uttered, “I don’t need YOU to be MY bodyguard, I can't take care of myself!” Wang Zi laughed, “You took MY words.” I stuck my tongue out at him, “I got to the words first!” “Pa,” Wang Zi began, “why? Why do you suddenly decide this? Why?? This girl is WEIRD. You just don’t know the half of her.” “Yea,” I remarked, “and I just so happened to be your lab partner.” “Wang Zi,” Mr. Qiu began, “Of course she’s weird. She jumped a man with a gun...and she saved my life.” I turned away and mumbled, “Am I really weird?” Qi Wei shook his head and mouthed the words, “Mei you, he’s just saying that.” I smiled and mouthed, “Oh, xie xie ni, Qi Wei.” He nodded, and I turned back around, to face Wang Zi and his dad. “Gui Gui,” Mr. Qiu said, “do you accept?” “Uh...” I began...
*Flashback*
Me: I’ll do everything I can, to help with his hand.
*End of Flashback*
I glanced at Wang Zi’s hand, it was still bandaged...my hand was still wounded, too.
I nodded, “I’ll only be his bodyguard until his right hand heals.” “Fair enough,” Mr. Qiu said, “But I want you to know, I’ll gladly rehire you anytime.” Wang Zi got up, “Okay, we’re going to be late for school now.” “Oh,” I remarked as I switched my phone on, 7:15 a.m., “then...i guess...we’ll be leaving now.” Mr. Qiu got up, “you can't leave without this.” He took out a key from his pocket, and handed it to me. I carefully took it from his hand; it was SO gorgeous! Not to mention how FANCY it was, too! The handle of the key was almost like the shape of a pretzel, it was colored pale blue, with a with a carving of ‘Qiu’ in the center. “Kinda hard to believe it’s a key,” I mumbled. “That key lets you enter at the front gate,” Wang Zi said. “Kinda hard to believe you're SMART,” he added.
The president laughed, then he said, “Gui Gui, please tell your parents I said ‘xie xie’ for coming over yesterday for dinner.” “Oh,” I began, “ok.”
Wang Zi and I walked out of the room. “You didn’t know they came?” he remarked. I shook my head, “Nope, had no clue.”
We were still in the limo, when I switched my phone back on. 35 messages and voice mails! I checked to see who it was... “Da Ya,” Wang Zi read the list of names aloud, as he leaned towards me and my phone, “Ya Tou, Xiao Xun, appl, Xiao Jie, Xiao Man, Mei Mei, Tong Tong.” I pushed him away, but he held onto my wrist. “Who’s 123-4567?” he asked.
