Chapter 22
Why?
Me: ENGAGED!?
Da Ya: Ya Tou!
Ya Tou: Aiyah, just kidding!!
Me: That’s not funnie!
Ya Tou: I know! but you should've seen your reaction!
Me: But...why would my feelings change? HOW will my feelings change?
Xiao Xun: Because of your true love thing...you wanted to find true love, and it is Aaron.
Me: Aiyo, I forgot about that...
Xiao Jie: What are you going to do about that?
Me: Uh...wo bu zhi dao. (I looked around the empty room)
Da Ya: Oh! Gui!
Me: Hm?
Da Ya: Since you and Wang Zi went out on a date-
Me: A...date...?
Xiao Xun: Don’t think we didn’t see your ‘date’ with him yesterday.
Me: What?
Ya Tou: We came back to school yesterday-
Xiao Man: Because we called yesterday, and your mom said you weren't home yet-
Xiao Jie: So we went to the coffee shop, your favorite place.
Mei Mei: And THERE we saw you and Wang Zi!
Tong Tong: Then...you guys left, and we followed you guys back to school.
Apple: We were jinxing you, hoping that you would fall into the fountain, but you didn’t.
Me: Wei! That’s not funnie!
Da Ya: You know what IS funnie? Your INDIRECT kiss!
(I got quiet, I had no idea that they were FOLLOWING us, and watching us!)
Me: Whatever. What did you want to say, Da Ya?
Da Ya: Uh...OH! Yea! I said, since you went on a date with Wang Zi-
Xiao Xun: Even though I already said the dare was off.
Da Ya: I've decided to carry out MY dare, too!
Me: The hug...?!
Da Ya: Yep.
Me: Ok! Later on today, wait til I get there.
Aaron barged in. He walked over to me, and grabbed my elbow. “Come on,” he began, “we need to go study, before class begins.” I didn’t get to answer, because he dragged me out of the room.
He led me to the library. We didn’t talk, we didn’t look at each other. When he finally let go of my elbow, I sat at a table and propped open my book in front of me. Aaron sat across from me, and we just studied, quietly.
(Wang Zi’s P.O.V)
Ao Quan them stared at me, as if I knew something they didn’t, as if I did something I wasn’t suppose to do. I stared back at them, forcing them to stare away.
“What do you want?” I asked them. “Why?” Xiao Yu asked. “Why...” I began, “Why? Why is everyone asking that, today?” “Why...” Xiao Yu began, “why do you have that look in your eyes?” I walked off, ignoring them. “Eyes can't lie...” I thought. “Eyes can't lie,” Ao Quan said, “you know that already.” I turned around to face them. “Wang Zi,” Ah Wei began, “do you...like Gui Gui?” I didn’t think, I already knew the answer. I shook my head, “Mei you.” “No feelings at all?” Wei Lian asked. I was about to shake my head, but didn’t. “Well...” I began, “one.” “One?” Xiao Yu repeated, “what might that feeling be?” “Thankful,” I answered, “thankful, because she saved my dad’s life. My one and only dad, my only family...” “Oh,” Ao Quan mumbled. I nodded, “Yea. Other than that that...no other feelings exist.”
(End of Wang Zi’s P.O.V)
Aaron slammed his book shut, all of a sudden. I continued to study, pretending not to hear him. “Gui Gui,” he said, “what’s wrong with you?” I looked up from my book, “Hm?” “What’s wrong with you?” he repeated. “Oh,” I began, ‘I'm studying.” He grabbed my book, out from my hands, and slammed it shut. I lost it, I lost my patience, I lost all sense of calm and peacefulness. “What!?” I yelled, “what do you want from me!?” I had completely forgotten that I was in the library, and that we were suppose to whisper only. “Why did you save the president?” Aaron asked, with no anger or impatience in his tone of voice, “why did you risk your life??” I sighed, and after a long pause, I answered quietly, so quietly I thought he might’ve not heard me, “Its because i'm willing to risk my life...that I've agreed to be Wang Zi’s bodyguard.”
Aaron was probably shocked by now. I know he probably wanted some time to himself, so he could think, so I got up, and took my book. “I'm done studying for today,” I began, “so I’ll leave first. See you back in class.” I walked out of the library, and went to find Da Ya. I wanted to see her carry out her dare. I couldn’t help it, but feel sad for Aaron. “dui bu qi, Aaron,” I said to myself, “dui bu qi. But I had to tell you the truth, its better now than later. It would hurt more, if I had told you later. And as a friend, I don’t want to hurt you. How could I...when you're suppose to be...my true love...”

I found Da Ya talking to Ao Quan, Ya Tou talking to Ah Wei, Tong Tong talking to Liu Rong Jia, and Apple them all talked to their lab partners. I assumed they were talking about the science lab, or about the test, or studying. Wang Zi stood by himself, so I walked over to him. “What are they talking about?” I asked him. “Science lab,” Wang Zi answered, “are you stupid? Can't you see that they’re with their partners?” “STUPID!?” I exclaimed, “YOU'RE the stupid one!” Mei Mei them all stopped talking, and looked over at me and Wang Zi. “You're the one that almost took a DIRECT hit from Aaron,” I continued to yell at Wang Zi, “you're the one that didn’t dodge!” I made a fist, ready to fly at him.
*Flashback*
Wang Zi: Never aim from the side or swing from the side. You must only do that, when they’re jabbing at you. When they DO jab at you, you're best shot would be to duck, and then go for an uppercut. If they’re not punching you, you should just go for a jab.
*End of Flashback*
“If I DO go for a jab,” I thought, “he’d probably catch my punch.” I let go of my fist, and Wang Zi saw. “Pretty smart,” he said, “I thought you’d SURELY go for that jab.” This time, I DID swing at him, and as just as I had thought, he caught my swing. He smiled, and I smiled a mocking smile back. “Too bad you weren't THIS good when Aaron swung at you,” I commented. He smiled again, “I didn’t dodge or do anything, because I wanted to see if you’d do your job right or not. As a bodyguard...that was an OKAY job. Not good, not bad. You know...if you came about just one second later...that would've been different.” I made an unpleasant face at his remark, then I said, “And as your bodyguard, I'm allowing myself to do THIS-“ I elbowed him in the stomach, then as he let go of my fist, I ran off. The bell suddenly rang to go to class. “Aiyo,” I thought to myself as I continued to run, “its times like these, that I wish I DIDN’T sit next to Wang Zi.”
* * *
Gosh, they’re bothering me SO much!
Da Ya: Oh, my gosh!
Ya Tou: Why are you Wang Zi’s bodyguard?!
Xiao Jie: Yea! You can't even protect yourself!
Mei Mei: Gui!
Xiao Xun: In a way...that’s pretty smart...
Tong Tong: Yea, considering to be his bodyguard just to get close to him.
Xiao Man: Wow, I never thought of it THAT way...
Apple: I know. All of a sudden, Gui Gui, you seem smarter.
