how long the short amount of money my parents left me were going to last. Hopefully a
month, that should give me enough time to get a job. I went out on my search. I found
many jobs that would accept me but non had the pay to servive rent and school fees. As I
walked home, losing hope with each step. On my way home I passed by a newpaper
stand. I bought one and continued walking and reading. I looked through a few ads but
none that had enough pay would hire a 17 year old still in highschool. Till one. It was a
maid ad. Well my family was never rich. I helped my parents do all the housework while
they work hard earning money for the rent, food and ect. I can totally be a maid. Wait. I
should check the age requirement. 16, great! Time to apply! Two weeks later they told
me I got the job. Sweet! I read the letter.
Dear Hebe Tian
We would love to have you as one of our maids. Along with you is another maid that will
be helping out. We hope you two will become good friends. Since your a maid you will
be living in the house along with our sons Aaron and Jiro. We hope you don't mind
sharing a room with the other maid. We will pay you $500 a week. If you work well our
sons win raise your pay. The food money will be handled by us. You will go to the same
highschool as them, we hope you don't mind. Both of you will each take care of someone.
Hebe you will take care of Aaron. If you have any questions feel free to ask them. Your
job will start tomarrow. The key to the house is at the botton of this letter. Please move in
the moment you recieve this letter. Thanks you.

I read the letter and started to pack. This was a very good job. I feel so lucky. I packed
whats left of my things. I sold most of our things to make more money. I took whats left
and a family photo that I always kept with me. I think its kind of stupid but I also packed
my stuffed animal, Teddy. I know most teddy bears have that name but I was 5! Give me
a break. Well here goes. The start of my new life.
