Chapter 2

Chapter Two

Kaohshiung, Taiwan, October 10, 2009

Taking a peep at Chun, Ella thought ‘Angela is a fool for not following through the elopement, he is such a perfect guy and way beyond handsome.’ Chun’s feature was perfect, flawless skin, strong jaw with a slight touch of arrogant but serene look. You would not forget such a perfect face not forgetting he looked well educated and successful.

Unfortunately, he was a very notorious playboy, filthy rich and outstandingly different. He was the most eligible and wanted bachelor in Taiwan or so in the whole of Asia. His life style and scandals were all over the media of all kinds no matter whether in the business or entertainment news. With the gossips and scandals around no man would need taming more than He-Devil. It was unbelievable to see him here looking dent and lost.

After a struggling in her mind on how to console Chun to ease the tension, Ella blurted out, “It’s quite a night isn’t it””

Chun slumped his shoulders and ranted, “Sure it is with the 2 hours rain storm and the rushed journey from Tainan. And I have just seen my entire hardwork and fortune slipping away under my very nose if that’s what you mean.”

Ella straightened her spine with her hands on her hips, “I think I should remind you that I also had a very unpleasant and eventful evening here. I was abducted, tossed about in that damn car, pushed around by you and yelled at. It is already enough to ignite anger and frustration.”

Dumbfounded by Ella’s blow up, Chun’s pressed lips curved into a heartbreaking smile (to Ella). Ella’s pulse speed like the cars in the circuit of Formula One races, she was sure affected by the simple spread of those irresistible lips.

Chun cast his eyes around the private room and apologized for his offensive behaviour, “Please accept my apology for behaving in such manner. Why don’t we continue our conversation at the dining table?”

Without waiting for Ella’s reply, Chun took her by the elbow toward the dining table. “But I …..” she tried to interject.

While both of them sitting down, the door to the private room swung opened and stomped in a man in black suit with an irritating grin. “Master Chun, Johnny Lee at your service here. I’ve gotten the chef to prepare a meal as instructed by Calvin, hope you and your uumm.. lady companion here can enjoy.” He grinned again with a satisfaction to be of service to his boss and continued, “we have all kinds of cuisine here from oriental, Japanese, Korean to western.”

“Just bring the mushroom soup and lamb pie with some walnut brownies. Please don’t waste time,” Chun said while holding the door for Johnny and slammed the door closed before Johnny could open his mouth again.

Ella glanced around the room, wondering what sort of romantic evening the handsome heir had planned for her beautiful cousin, Angela. It was a cosy and dimly lighted at the far end of the spacious room. Ella was confused and nervous.

Chun walked toward the bar in the room and poured himself some whisky. He broke the silence, “I have to chase him out or he will be rambling on the menu of the restaurant here.”

“Yeah” Ella agreed, her stomach has started to growl, she remembered she have been running late and skipped dinner to go to a fund raising meeting. She groaned out loud at the thought of the missed meeting, “Argghh… I must return to Tainan as soon as possible.”

“Will your family looking for you now,” Chun enquired.

The fund raising committee meeting would be missing her as she was in the new hard earned position as a chairperson. He was asking about her cousin and aunt, well neither would notice her disappearance unless she was needed to do some of their dirty chores. Anyway she is not going to let Chun knew about those. “Sure they will be looking for me,” she lied.

Chun smirked “I am sorry Miss…er… Zhang.”

Ella took her glasses from her backpack and put them firmly on her nose. She wasn’t surprised he didn’t remember her name, very few people did. “No I am not Miss Zhang, it’s Ella Chen. Just Ella will do.”

He looked shocked but covered it smoothly with a grin that sent a wave of weakness straight to her knees. “I forget Angela’s father it’s the only son. I am….”

“Wu Ji Chun,” Ella finished for him. “We had met before, at your company’s charity ball at The Landis Taipei Hotel.” He knitted his brow as if puzzled and she added, “how about Down Syndromes Fund Raising Ball, Plaza International Hotel Grand Opening Ceremony in TaiChung (one of Chun’s family own) and…(many charity fund raising attended by Chun),” she blushed at his amazed expression.

Chun’s soft chuckled was the most beautiful sound she had ever heard.

“I'm useless at remembering names and faces, so sorry about that. It’s incurable,” he said lamely.

Chun’s gaze slid across her, lingering on her tempting lips and bosom. Ella felt the heat of his glance as if he touched her. Her skin tingled at the thought of his long sculpture fingers sliding where his gaze had rested; up her arms, across her silky shoulders, and down her…...

Breaking her thought, Chun offered, “May I get you a drink, Miss Chen?”

Ella feeling awkward, adjusted her t-shirt, “It is quite cold in here, isn’t it?” ‘Oh it would have been, if I have not indulged myself with reckless imagination in the most wanton manner. Sheeesshh, what have I been thinking.’

Chun looked at her for a moment with his flirtatious eyes, “So you are chilly but I find its kind of hot in here.”

A shiver shot up her spine. ‘He wasn’t flirting with me or was he? No one ever flirted with me.’

Ella smirked, “you still have your jacket on, it’s thicker than what I have on.”

He chuckled, “No wonder I feel hot.” Setting his glass on the table, he took off his jacket and tossed it to the chair.

Ella suddenly realized her unfashionable dressing. Chun dressed with elegance and style. His simple tight long sleeve t-shirt without the leather jacket stretched across his broad shoulders and strong chest, while his six packs traced out faintly coupled with his fitting jeans showing off his long legs and manhood made Ella blush.

Ella had to admit he is breathtaking and dangerous. “I should go now,” she said suddenly panicked.

Chun grabbed his glass again, “Please sit down Miss Chen. As soon as I think of a solution to this mess, we’ll leave’”

She was damn tired and thought about asking Johnny if she could rent a room at the hotel but hesitated. Ella sensed a hint of desperation behind Chun’s calmness. He needed her aide whether he knew it or not. Besides, there were no point making a scene now, she was 26 years old, way too old in age to worry about being alone in a room with a notorious playboy.

Looking at his expensive watch again and frowned, he downed his whisky in a gulp. Ella knitted her brows in disapproval, “whatever the problem is, alcohols won’t help you solve them.”

With a faint sneer, “Thanks to the bitchy scheming cousin of yours, nothing can help now,” Chun voiced.

Chun laughed when Ella sniffed. He poured a glass of red wine and crossed the room to give to her but she shook her head.

“It's just red wine, Miss Chen,” Chun amused.

“I am a very bad drinker,” she furnished.

“Then you should learn to drink more,” he pushed the glass into her hand.

‘I would just hold it for awhile and put back on the table, there was no harm in that,’ she put in her mind.

Chun sank himself into the couch across the room opposite hers and slumped into the headrest, looking busted, something Ella had never witnessed. She had all the time to observe the dashing and troubled Chun, more than he would ever know.

“Maybe I could help if you are willing to pour it out,” Ella offered.

Chun dropped his eyes to his glass and stared as if looking for a solution, “I do not know how to start and I don’t think you could lend a hand.”

Her heart ached at his response but she offered again, “I am good at solving problem you know and two heads are better than one.”

Chun pondered, “Let’s see what you can do then, I have all the time in the world now.” He continued, “My Grandpa disapproved my life style and determined to correct what I had been.”
