“Ron, you take the stairs, while I go by the elevator.” Damien instructed as they split up and carried out their task.
Flashing his FBI badge and a warrant of arrest in the face of the security guards, he demanded them to hand over all information regarding Sammul Chan to him immediately. After consulting the upper management which seriously irritated Ron to the core, they finally passed him the relevant information which they held about Sammul. Taking the back stairs, Ron ran up two steps at a time, as he held on the information tightly. Going by his gut instinct, he decided to check out the car park area first, just in case Sammul was thinking of using that as an escape route. Whipping out his cell phone, he called Damien to inform him about his own progress, while Damien updated his.
“I’m heading out to the car parking area now. I’ll get the security guard to clamp his car.” Ron said.
“Alright, keep in touch.” Damien answered before hanging up.
Just as Ron was nearing Sammul’s car in the designated parking lot, he noticed someone familiar lying on the ground right beside the car. Almost instinctively, Ron reached into his coat for his revolver and spun around, as he felt another presence lurking behind his back. However, before he could react, a hard punch flew across his face as he collapsed onto the ground, feeling as if his nose bridge had been broken in the process. It took only another swinging fist to knock Ron out completely.
“Useless cop.” Sammul hissed under his breath as he began dragging both bodies – Ron and Myolie, into the boot of his car, before speeding out of the building, ignoring the warnings of the security guards for him to stop immediately.

[Research Laboratory Room]
“Gosh, this is the antidote?” Leila exclaimed as Bosco carefully retrieved a test-tube from the cooler with a pair of tongs.
“Now, how do we test its effectiveness?” Bosco questioned as they looked at each other, being clueless on their next step since their supposed target was not around.
Suddenly, the door barged open, as a flustered-looking Raymond came charging in.
“Where’s Myolie?” This was the first question he asked since he did not see her in the room.
Bosco shrugged his shoulders, “She went out to look for you.”
“Is there anything wrong, Ray?” Leila could sense the unusualness in Raymond’s behavior.
Raymond ignored Leila’s question as he caught sight of the test-tube, “Is that the antidote?”
Bosco nodded and went to retrieve it out from Raymond, while grabbing a syringe over as well. “Alright Ray, I don’t really know the exact amount…”
Before Bosco could finish his sentence, Raymond snatched both the test-tube and syringe over, and put them away in a safe place with him. Bosco and Leila watched on in confusion, not understanding what was going on at all.
“Ray, what’s going on?” Leila demanded as he tried to leave the room.
She silently gasped in shock as she took a few steps backwards when she saw his bloodshot eyes beaming with evilness and malice. Before she knew it, Raymond had grabbed hold of her neck tightly with his strong arm, and was evidently choking her.
“Stay away from me, do you hear that?” Raymond growled in a voice which clearly did not belong to him at all.
Bosco saw Leila struggling to catch her breath as her face turned pale. Seizing a metal container nearby, Bosco was ready to bring it down upon Raymond so that he could let go of Leila, but before he could do that, Raymond had already released his grip on the petite lady, whom fell to the ground, coughing uncontrollably. Leila looked up, and saw Raymond seemingly in a daze as the redness in his eyes had disappeared and returned to normal.
“I didn’t mean it.” Raymond apologized guiltily before making his way out of the room.
Bosco rushed to Leila’s side as he helped her up, “Damn, are you okay there?”
Leila looked offended as she pushed Bosco away, “Firstly, I’m not ‘Damn’, and secondly, Raymond definitely looks more like he has a much bigger problem than me. Why didn’t you stop him from leaving?”
“Oh man, I don’t wish to risk my neck.” Bosco commented with a shrug.
Leila got up and rolled her eyes annoyingly at Bosco, “Come on, we need to find him…and Myolie. Fast.”

[Outside Research Institution Building]
He knew that he was being watched. He had no more time to waste. He did not bother if he was going to be trailed by those people. Hailing down a taxi, he climbed into the passenger’s seat before informing the driver of his destination. As expected, Damien’s subordinates had been stationed around the vicinity of the building. After spotting their target, they quickly reported to their superior, waiting for his further instructions.
On the other hand, Damien, who was still inside the building, failed to contact Ron, and smelled a rat. Rushing down to the car parking area, he found Ron’s cell phone lying near Sammul’s designated parking lot, and somehow, he had guessed the outcome of the situation when the security guards came reporting to him about Sammul fleeing the scene in his car. Gathering his subordinates, they set out an island-wide search, and through Damien’s gut instinct, the first crime scene was their first destination.

[Abandoned Furniture Factory]
Feeling an intense, throbbing headache, she softly moaned as her eyes tried to re-focus the blurry sight before her. The surroundings looked extremely unfamiliar to her, before she caught sight of another person lying unconscious nearby.
“Ronnie?” She mumbled as she got up and crawled towards him. “Ronnie, wake up.”
Ron began stirring awake, before a deep frown appeared across his face. “Where are we? Why are you here, Myo?”
Slowly, it dawned upon both of them as they each whispered in unison, “Sammul Chan…”
“Up already?” It was a sinister voice from their backs – Sammul Chan.
Ron wiped away the dried-up blood near his nose as he sat up and shook his head in an attempt to get rid of the ringing sound in his ears – apparently the punches from Sammul were pretty forceful and hard. Myolie hid nearer towards Ron, as she watched Sammul carrying a stack of dried twigs in his hands. Sammul smirked as he undauntedly began to try and light up a fire. He did not make an effort to tie up both Ron and Myolie – he was pretty confident that there was no chance for them to escape. In fact, they were no match for him anyway.
“Let Myolie go. I can be your hostage if you want.” Ron demanded.
Sammul turned and grinned devilishly, “Oh no, I can’t. Without her too, I won’t be here today.”
“What do you mean?” Myolie questioned – she had always wondered why Sammul repeatedly mentioned that they had known each other long ago. She might not be able to figure out in the past, but with Raymond’s return and recalling from his account, the truth suddenly hit upon her. “Are you…you’re that mental patient?”
Sammul did not answer as he stared directly straight into her eyes, speaking out loud for her to hear only, “Of course, Dr. Wu. It’s a pity that you took this long before you can remember about me. I’m a little disappointed. But don’t worry, Dr. Lam is hurrying over right now. Soon, we can have a little reunion.”
Ron scanned around looking for a weapon to subdue Sammul, but the factory was practically empty, except for a few cartons. Sneakily feeling around his body, he realized that his revolver was missing, and started cursing under his breath. Meanwhile, Sammul got distracted from his argument with Myolie and turned his attention onto Ron, since he was able to read their thoughts in the mind perfectly.
“I bet you’re looking for this, Officer?” Sammul flung the revolver over to Ron, and it landed in front of him.
Ron looked up doubtfully. He had no idea what ulterior motive Sammul had. The man only maintained an arrogant smirk on his face, while he challenged Ron to pick up the revolver and fire at him.
“Perhaps I should inform you that I can never die?” Sammul chuckled.
Just then, Myolie began arching backwards as she pulled Ron along with her. Sammul sensed the peculiarity and quickly turned around, only to see a huge boulder coming straight at his face at a high speed.
“Ray…” Myolie murmured under her breath as she recognized his mutated facial features – just that this time, it was more hideous and ferocious.
“Myo, we need to hide first.” Ron grabbed the revolver on the floor before taking hold of her arm and dragged her to a far away pillar and hid behind it. “Stay close to me.”
Sammul was being pinned under the huge boulder, but it did not take long for him to break away from the heavy weight, and he too emerged into his mutated form. Glaring fiercely at Raymond, both parasites residing within their hosts’ body were determined to get rid of each other – only one of them would survive in this showdown.
“So I see that finally you decided to merge, Dr. Lam.” Sammul snarled as they treaded around in circles.
“I’m going to destroy you today.” Raymond growled as he took the first charge at Sammul.
Both of them started wrestling as punches and kicks were hurled onto each other, trying to bring the other party down to the ground. Grabbing the cartons nearby, Raymond slammed each and every one of them into Sammul’s direction, though they did not do much hurt to the latter at all. He knew that both of them could never die, and this fight could drag on for hours, but he had no time left. The authorities would be notified by now, and soon enough, there might be no way to escape anymore.
“The antidote!” The voice screamed in his head.
However, Sammul seemed to have guessed Raymond’s next move, as he grasped tightly onto Raymond from behind, refusing to give him the chance to retrieve the antidote. From afar, Myolie managed to analyze the situation as Raymond’s eyes temporarily connected with hers. She could not care about her safety anymore. Rushing up towards both creatures, she watched Raymond deliberately fling a plastic bag to a safe direction, and quickly made a huge leap to catch onto the bag before it fell onto the ground. Ron was worried as he hastily joined up with Myolie, whom was busily filling up the syringe with the antidote.
Sammul delivered a hard and painful punch onto Raymond’s back, before charging towards Myolie. Ron raised his revolver and began firing at Sammul.
“You don’t think those bullets can hurt me, do you?” Sammul growled, being unfazed by the bullets which struck his body.
Raymond got up swiftly as he leapt towards Sammul, bringing both of them onto the ground. Using all his might, Raymond pinned Sammul down as Myolie rushed over just in time to plunge the needle right into the vein in Sammul’s neck.
“How much did you give him?” Raymond questioned as he watched Sammul reacting pretty violently to the antidote.
“Almost everything.” Myolie whispered fearfully as she watched every muscle on Sammul’s body bulging to an odd shape.
After several moments of struggling, Sammul’s mutated body came to a sudden still. Raymond cautiously released his hold bit by bit, before getting down from the body. Myolie heaved a sigh of relief, as she glanced over at Raymond, whom was transforming back into his human form. Once in that form, many cuts and bruises were visible on Raymond’s face and body. It took her just one moment of deliberation before she made her way towards Raymond to check on him. Even though her instinct told her that there was no longer the old Raymond she used to know, Myolie still could sense some characteristics of him remaining in there.
“Ray…?” She stood before him, gazing deeply into his blood-red eyes.
He initially frowned before his expression gradually relented. Myolie lifted her hand up and gently touched on his cheek, and was glad when he did not push her away.
Meanwhile, Ron whipped out his handcuffs, contemplating to take Raymond in after the other officers had arrived. Suddenly, he saw Sammul’s body starting to move again, and before he could send out a warning, Sammul was already up and ready to deliver a deadly blow against Myolie. Raymond was alert and swung Myolie around as they switched sides, using his body as a shield to protect her. At that moment, an unexpected shot rang in the air. Myolie peeped out from Raymond’s arms to see Ron holding up his revolver. Green slime could be seen splattered all around the ground – Ron had shot a fatal blow into Sammul’s head. Soon enough, sirens could be heard, as Raymond began to release Myolie.
“Come with me.” Raymond said, pulling Myolie along, as they ran out of the abandoned factory into the direction of the forest.
It took Ron some moments to recover, before he plucked up his courage to ensure that Sammul was not going to revive again suddenly. He then recalled about Myolie and Raymond, and quickly ran out of the factory as well. Scanning around the huge forest, Ron was thinking which way they could have gone. He needed to find Myolie back. He needed to bring Raymond back to the station. Pushing his way among the bushes, Ron thought he heard some rustling noises and ran towards the source of the sounds. As he had expected, Ron saw Raymond escaping deeper into the forest, while Myolie was coming towards him instead.
“Stop running, Raymond Lam!” Ron yelled over to his best friend. “I say, stop right there! Or I’ll shoot!”
However, Raymond did not heed his warning at all, as he continued his way on. Ron raised his revolver and aimed accurately, but before he could press onto the trigger, Myolie stood in front of the gun to stop Ron from attempting to take Raymond down.
“What are you doing, Myo?” Ron demanded. “Now, step aside, or you’ll get hurt.”
Myolie grabbed hold onto Ron’s arms as she tried to catch her breath from all the running, “No, you can’t shoot him, Ron. Let Ray go. Please just let him go.”
“How can I do that?” Ron said.
“You can!” Myolie raised her voice as she looked pleadingly at Ron. “Please give him a way out…Ray…he will never return again…he promised me that he will hide up forever, Ron. You won’t get to see him again…”
Ron saw Raymond’s back view getting smaller and smaller. He struggled very hard internally, and it did not help much when it was Myolie whom was making out the plea to him.
“Please…I’m begging you, Ron…” Myolie cried as she slowly went down on her knees.
Ron quickly supported Myolie up as he looked into her eyes. She gazed back at him, searching for his answer but she could not find any.
“Agent Ng’s over there!” A FBI officer shouted to his other colleagues.
Ron then turned towards the officer and spoke in a calm voice, pointing to the opposite direction where he was at, “The suspect has escaped to that side. Take the others and go after him.”
Upon hearing Ron’s instructions, the FBI officer disappeared to the other side, relating the information to the rest. Myolie felt herself letting out a sigh of relief when Ron had chosen to take her side, before she collapsed into Ron’s arms.
“Thanks.” It was her last word before she blacked out – and it was definitely from the bottom of her heart.

[3 Months Later, Myolie’s Bungalow]
She held a huge plastic container and placed it on the floor. Opening up the wardrobe, she began to take out every piece of his clothing and folded them neatly, before placing them into the container. After that, she moved out to the hallway, as she took down the photo frames containing him in there. Everything related to him – she had decided to keep them all in a place. Three months after she last saw him, she knew that it was time to move on with her life. He would never return again, as he had told her. Taking out the necklace where the engagement ring was strung on, she left it upon her palm as her fingers slowly curled in to grasp onto the ring, recalling the words he had said…
“I need to go now, Myo.” He brought them to the middle of the forest. “But I will need to continue on this journey alone by myself.”
She blinked her eyes in disbelief and grabbed onto him tighter than ever, “Why…Don’t leave me, Ray…”
He cupped her face in his hands as he spoke, “Listen to me – if I’ve a choice, I won’t ever let you leave my side. But it’s the only way out for me.”
She tried to digest the harsh reality of another separation, as tears were already trickling down from the corner of her eyes while gazing deeply into him, “I…I love you, Raymond…Always…”
He pulled her into a tight embrace – if he took another look at her, he was afraid that he might never bear to leave her. After a somehow long moment, he finally spoke again.
“Ron…” He struggled to hold back his tears. “He’s your future, Myolie.”
Even till the end, he still wished that someone could give her happiness on behalf of him.
===========================================================
There were no more tears…nor was there sadness. Gently placing the necklace ring into the container, she sealed it shut, before dragging it down to the basement cell where these items would remain there for as long as she lived – never to be taken out again. These memories were not forgotten. They were just being hidden in another part of her – a deep corner in her heart.
Stretching her arms up, she smiled at the container, before looking up at the clock. “Oops! It’s getting late!” She muttered under her breath, as she hurried out of the basement cell to prepare for an upcoming appointment.

[3 Hours Later]
He stood outside the door and adjusted his tie for the final time. Inhaling deeply, his hand reached out to press onto the doorbell. Within a few minutes, she answered the door with a bright smile.
“Hey, you’re here, Ron!” She greeted, before inviting him into the house for the first time. “Come on in and have a seat. Dinner will be ready soon.”
“Myo, this is for you.” Ron smiled in return as he gave her the bouquet of lilies – her favorite flowers.
“Thanks.” She accepted them.
Ron began looking around her home. It was really a big house, but he felt that she should not be living alone – it seemed to have an emptiness feeling hanging around it.
“Ron, we can start the meal already.” Myolie called out to him.
“Okay.” He answered.
Myolie had invited him over to her home for dinner last week, and as expected, he agreed to it immediately. After that incident, they seldom contacted each other, and Ron feared of giving any stress upon Myolie, so he thought perhaps he should just let their relationship fade away with time. Right until that fateful call which ignited the hope within him again.
“Uncle Paul just called me yesterday. He said that he’s planning to move to NY and also start his restaurant business here.” Ron casually brought up the topic over the dinner.
“Yeah, we discuss already, and I feel that it’s better for Daddy to have some company, rather than leaving him alone in New Orleans.” Myolie said. “And you’ve a new responsibility now.”
Ron’s eyes widened, “What?”
“Bring my father around for a tour. I’m having a couple of extra lessons at the school over the next few months. I may not be able to fork out the time then.” Myolie replied with a smile.
“My pleasure.” Ron chuckled.
“I just received an email from Bosco a few days ago.” Myolie continued on the conversation. “He’s planning to settle down in Russia with Leila. But he wants me to help him to convince his mother about that though.” With that, she started giggling.
Ron joined in too, “I never knew bickering can bring two people together.”
“They make up such an adorable couple.” Myolie commented sweetly.
Ron added on softly, “I think we make a cute pair too.”
“Pardon?” Myolie looked up and asked.
“Oh, nothing.” Ron answered nervously.
“I’m sorry, Ron.” Myolie suddenly became serious as she stared at him.
Ron put down his cutlery before reaching over to give Myolie’s hand a tight squeeze, “Please don’t say that. You haven’t done anything wrong.”
Myolie shook her head, as she in turn grasped onto Ron’s hand, “I didn’t know how to cherish you in the past, Ron. I took you for granted. For that, I know that an apology is insufficient.”
“I never blame you at all.” Ron stated.
There was a short pause as they looked at each other. Ron still loved Myolie deeply like before – his feelings for her would never change. As for Myolie, she was very sincere and determined in walking down the rest of her life journey path with Ron beside her. She would learn to treasure and love this man as time went by. She would definitely be happy together with him.
“Ron, I hope that we can start anew.” Myolie whispered. “Will you give me another chance?”
Ron stood up and walked over to Myolie’s side. She got up from her seat as well, waiting for his reply. Cupping her face in his hands, Ron captured her lips deeply with his – he had already given her the desired response.
