Chapter 1

"You must be joking Tavia," Gillian exclaimed as she held onto her cellphone tightly. "I already have 2 clients today."

"But this is urgent, Gill," Tavia pleaded on the other end of the phone. "Only one day, I promised, Gill. Just subsitute me for one more day. Please?"

"Alright, but you better keep your promise this time."

"Love'ya Gill." Gillian put her cellphone into her handbag and got off the bus.

Gillian was volunteering at a recreation center for people who is mentally challenge. Michelle led Edison to the table where Gillian and two of her clients were sitting. Michelle tapped Gillian's shoulder from the back and motioned her to step aside to talk.

"Gill, you sure you can handle this?" Michelle asked.

"It's only the three of them," Gillian reassured Michelle with a smile. "Besides, I wouldn't want you to miss your date today."

"Thanks, Gill. You're the best." Michelle grabbed Gillian's arm as she began to leave. "One more thing. Don't let anything happen to Edison Chen over there. Not even a bug bite, I tell you. His mom is overly concern about him!"

Gillian winked at Michelle and left.

Edison pulled Gillian's sleeve. "Jeh Jeh, I've made one. Isn't it pretty?"

Gillian turned around and said, "Way to go Ed. You're so smart with oragami's. Wanna help the others with me?"

Edison got up and was ready to help the guy sitting next to him with his oragami before he spotted his parents. Edison ran towards his parents. "Mommy, look at this birdie. I've made it all by myself. Jeh Jeh said I was smart too. She even ask me to help the others with their oragami."

Mrs. Chen smiled and told Edison that he was always smart. She walked up to Gillian with Edison at her side. Mrs. Chen turned to look at Ed. "Where's Tavia Jeh Jeh?"

Ed replied, "Tavia jeh jeh is not here today. She've got something 'important' to do."

Gillian got up and smiled at Mrs. Chen. "You must be Edison's mother. Ed behaves very well today."

Mrs. Chen looked around and asked Gillian, "Don't tell me my son has been out here with these two the whole time?! (Gillian nodded.) And my son was told to help the others?! (Gillian nodded again.) I have to report this. Ordering my son to help these people? THey're crazy! What if they attack my son all of a sudden? This is why I request to have a volunteer or someone professional to be one-on-one with my son here!"

Gill, astonished, said, "But, Mrs. Chen..."

Mrs. Chen rasied her hand and interrupted Gillian's sentence, "I don't care. All I know is that my son enjoys to be one-on-one."

Edison argued, with puppy eyes now, "No, Mommy. I like to play with other people, too. And Gill jeh jeh is very nice. Don't yell at her. Please? Please?"

Mrs. Chen pulled Edison away and told GIllian, "Tell your supervisor that Ed won't be coming until the recreation center can work out a way to have my son with a volunteer or something one-on-one at ALL TIMES. Come on Ed. Let's go now."

"Sorry," Mr. Chen said as Mrs. Chen dragged Edison away. "My wife has been overly sensative about Edison ever since the car accident." He left. Before Edison exited the room, he turned his head and looked back at Gillian. She smiled and waved Good By eat him and got a smile back from Ed.

"Oh, and here comes Princess Tavia," Gillian groaned as she put a freshly made cake into the fride display.

"Sorry. Knwo you got into some trouble with a client's parent. But, hey, cheer up. I'm here to get a cake." replied Tavia.

"Don't you always get one?" asked Gillian.

"Yeah, but this is a special cake..."

"Don't tell me, your special guy," interrupted Gillian.

Totally ignoring Gillian, "Which one should I get?"

***

"Ed, please. Just try a new bakery once. I read it some where that they have very nice cake here ... especially chocolate mousse cake."

Edison relunctly walked into the bakery with his mom.

***

"Oh my god! You remember last time you bought a cake for your guy? (Tavia corrected Gillian,"Ex-guy you mean?!") Yeah, whatever. I've seriously never heard of anyone buying a cake for their guy to officially dump him." Gillian said as she put Tavia's cake into a box and tied it up.

"So? Now you heard about it. Besides, I hate strawberry mousse cake. So, not my lost, right?"

Mrs. Chen waited for Gillian to finsih Tavia's order with Ed, who has a sad face one and looking at some breads the bakery also sells.

"How may I help you, Ma'am?"Gillian asked her customer.

Edison, recognizing Gillian's voice, turned and smiled at her. "Gill jeh jeh. It's you. Look, Mommy. It's the volunteer today."

Gillian smiled, "Hi, Ed. What'ya doing here?"

Ed said, "Mommy says this bakery sells yummy cake, and she's going to buy me a chocolate mousse cake."

Gillian pointed to the chocolate mousse cake, "This one is fresh out of the oven."

"We will take this one then," Mrs. Chen ordered.

Tavia tapped Edison's shoulder. "How was your day with Gill jeh jeh, Ed?"

Ed, who was looking at some bags of panda cookies, said, "Great, Tavia jeh jeh. Gill jeh jeh taught me to make a oragami birdie. She said I was very smart with it."

Gillian walked over to Ed's place after she put their cake in a box. "Don't they look yummy, Ed?"

Mrs. Chen said, "It's alright. Ed let's go.

Edison pleaded, "But Mommy. They look so yummy though."

Mrs. Chen argued, "Ed, remember last time with the candy cane? You only got one lick and threw it away."

Gillian began to unwraped one of the bags as Edison continued to beg his mom to get him one. "Here, Ed," Gillian held out a panda cookie. "Try one."

Edison took it and smiled. "Like it, Ed?" Gillian asked. Edison nodded his head and Gillian wrapped the bag up. "Take the whole bag, Ed."

Edison took the bag. "No, Ed," Mrs. Chen took his bag. "Ed, I said I'm not going to buy it. Don't be such a naughty little boy."

"I'm not little anymore. I a big boy now." Edison talked back.

"Um, Mrs. Chen?" Gillian took the bag out of Mrs. Chen's hand and slipped it into one of Edison's pocket. "I meant to give this to Ed as a little gift for him 'cuz I promised I would give him a gift for being such a smart and good boy today. Not one of my clients had ever behave so well on their first day with a stranger. And from what you said earlier today, I might not see him for a while. Besides, you can't lie to a kid, right?" Gillian winked at Ed.

*I have problems coming up with a title for each chapter, so I will not spend that much time in coming up with a title in this fanfic. If you make a suggestion title for each chapter, I would be more than happy to take it and give you credits for it. But, for now, I won't have any title for the chapters. ~^0^~
