Chapter 10

Epilogue + Author’s Note

A month after…

Xi Men was seated inside a wedding boutique, fitting a very handsome Armani tuxedo in front of a mirror.

The saleslady beamed at him. “Sir, it fits you just well!” she told him.

The woman seated on the chair smiled at him and gave him a thumbs-up sign to show her approval.

Xi Men smiled back at her. “So this is it.” he turned to the saleslady. “Have this one wrapped and sent to the Xi Men mansion today, if you please.” he said and gave her his credit card.

The saleslady nodded and rushed to the counter. Xi Men, on the other hand, got out of the tux and sat next to the woman he was with. She smiled at him.

“I honestly don’t know why you’re still planning this wedding, Xi Men.” she told him, resting her head on his shoulder. “It’s not necessary.” she added. “It will just cost you money.”

Xi Men smiled at her and kissed her forehead. “You’re worth it.” he said. “You’re worth everything, Xiao You.”

Xiao You smiled. “Still the sweet-talker Xi Men, are you? We were married already, remember?” she said to him. “Well, it was a rushed wedding, I know, but we were still married.” she admitted and grinned.

“Mom’s insisting on it. Besides, isn’t it every girl’s dream to walk down the aisle in a long flowing white wedding gown made especially for her?” Xi Men said to her.

“I suppose so.” Xiao You said and shrugged.

Xi Men smiled. “Anyway, it would be better if we go through the ceremonies twice. But now I won’t have to worry about losing you or letting you go.”

Xiao You laughed. “What did happen when I lost consciousness in the church after the ceremonies?” she asked with mild curiosity. “You’ve never told me anything about it.”

+FLASHBACK+

Holding Xiao You in his arms, Xi Men quickly walked out the church and found his car there. Panicking he instructed the driver to get them to the nearest hospital.

“The time has come…” he thought to himself as he looked at Xiao You’s face. “It’s the end of the week…”

Probably to lighten the mood a bit and calm Xi Men down, his driver turned on the car’s stereo.

Come notice me
and take my hand
so why are we
Strangers when
our love is strong
why carry on without me?

And every time I try to fly
I fall without my wings
I feel so small
I guess I need you baby
And every time I see you in my dreams
I see your face, it's haunting me
I guess I need you baby

“Dammit.” his driver cursed loudly and made to switch the station. Britney’s song “Every time” was playing and he knew how much his master Xi Men loathed that “piece of dumbass”.

But to his surprise, Xi Men stopped him from doing so.

“I never thought I’d appreciate a Britney song!” he thought to himself and looked down at Xiao You again.

I make believe
That you are here
It's the only way
I see clear
What have I done
You seem to move on easy

And every time I try to fly
I fall without my wings
I feel so small
I guess I need you baby
And every time I see you in my dreams
I see your face, you're haunting me
I guess I need you baby

I may have made it rain
Please forgive me
My weakness caused you pain
And this song is my sorry

At night I pray
That soon your face
Will fade away

And every time I try to fly
I fall without my wings
I feel so small
I guess I need you baby
And every time I see you in my dreams
I see your face, you're haunting me
I guess I need you baby

After all...
After all...

They arrived at the hospital and Xi Men lifted Xiao You again. Immediately the hospital crew attended to him and rushed Xiao You to the emergency room.

He followed and watched nervously as they tried to revive his beloved with electric shock. And just as he was about to lose hope…

“Xi Men…” a female voice quietly said.

He looked and saw that Xiao You had opened her eyes… but how could that be? She… wasn’t she supposed to be taken back already by her angel?

“You surprised me! I thought I was hallucinating… but when you held my hand I realized everything was real!” Xi Men said to her as they went out of the boutique. He held Xiao You closer to him.

Xiao You smiled. “I’m sorry it took too long for me to gain consciousness again… Father still talked to me!” she said and the both of them laughed lightly. She leaned closer to Xi Men as they slowly made their way to his car. “But now I believe… that miracles do happen.”
