“Your Dad wasn’t killed in a shootout” Dara froze, she felt her hands trembled against Jaejoong’s warm hands. Her heart was beating so fast causing her to breath heavily.
‘Wh… what do you mean, we saw his body, I saw the gunshot… I saw it” She stuttered as she tried explaining to the guy what she saw or maybe what she believed she saw. “he…” Dara’s eyes widened as he stared at Jaejoong with horror “You…. did you kill him?” Dara pulled away abruptly
Jaejoong shook his head “No baby… no I didn’t“ he grab her hand and held it tightly assuring her that he would never think of hurting anyone in her family.
“He was having an affair” Jaejoong paused and waited for another reaction from her, and as expected her back fell helplessly on her seat and she started crying her hearts out.
It did broke her heart hearing how her loving dad would lie to her mom. How could his perfect dad could sneakily do that behind their back? Her mom loves him, and she thought she did have a perfect family…. but she was wrong after all.
“With who?” She asked after she calmed down a bit. Eyes still sparkled with tears and curiosity and Jaejoong again hesitated.
“With who?”
“With Dongwook’s mom”
Devastation filled Dara’s whole being. It was not just a simple affair after all and she hated herself for not knowing thinking that her dad’s closeness to her ex- boyfriend’s mother was just because of her and her relationship with her son.
“Your father begged me again and again to not tell anyone especially Teddy. You know how he idolizes your father, he looked up to him. Teddy loves your mother and your father Mr. Park knew that ted would kill anyone who dare hurt you or your mom. Teddy’s crazy personality when he’s mad could easily get out of hand. He almost killed teacher Lee when that pervert almost assaulted your mother remember? plus I know he’ll get depress and all”
Dara fell silent, trying to absorb everything that Jaejoong said.
“Mr. Park knew that Teddy would never dare to hurt him and if he does he’ll accept it anyway. But he would never allow Ted to hurt Mrs. Choi. I’m sorry Dara but your dad loves her”
“But why oppa hate you that much? Because you kept that secret? That’s not even your fault Jaejoong…It’s my father’s mistake”
Jaejoong shook his head.
“ Do you know Crissy?”
“Oppa’s girlfriend?” Dara again grew tensed. She wondered how bad the past was this time.
“Yes, Well… Dongwook and Crissy we’re sneaking behind Teddy’s back”
“What the fuck!?” Dara’s jaw fell realizing that at that time Dongwook was also dating her.
Jaejoong nodded feeling sorry for all the harsh truth that he was spilling out to her.
“She used me, blackmailed me knowing that it is the only way to spare her and Dongwook with Teddy’s wrath. If I didn’t agree to her she said she’ll take on Max or Xiah. I know Hyung will kill them if he finds out. I’ll gladly take his punches than seeing my friends get killed you know after that Teddy and I didn’t spoke with each other for a while”
“Why would she do that?”
“Crissy is someone who never settles for just one guy. She wanted everyone… it started with Teddy, Yoochun, Dongwook and Me I don’t know what happened but somehow Dongwook and her fell in love and she wanted out. Just because she knew Teddy well enough that she knew he would never let her go. He will kill Dongwook but he will never let Crissy go. We had sex threatening me of telling teddy about her and Yoochun, about your Dad and Dongwook’s mom and I have no choice but to agree”
Dara cringed, thinking about it disgust her that she was even hating the crissy girl.
‘She was right… Teddy hated me, we get into a deadly brawl one time and I was hospitalized for a while… but hyung didn’t let Crissy go. Xiah told me that Teddy became bolder, almost keeping the girl on his side all the time. I was casted out of the group, only meeting the other guys once in a while. I’ve learned that Dongwook and Crissy’s secret affair continued”
“where does my dad came in to the scene? Why does he end up dead?”
Dara grew desperate for answers
“i was explaining why me and hyung wasn’t really on good terms Dara” she fell silent again. The guy was right, she did continuously asked him for that reason.
“Dongwook didn’t know his mom was having an affair. The day he found out was the day that he broke up with you. Somehow Teddy found the reason why, because dongwook was having a relationship with his girlfriend. I remembered Yoochun calling me about Teddy’s plan of breaking his neck for hurting you and backstabbing him with Crissy. ”
Dara pouted “I did cry a lot that day. Teddy oppa found me in the bathroom crying… he looked devastated, I didn’t know he was having the same problem”
“That’s was the time Dongwook finds out, he swear that he wanted to kill your father. Dong Wook thought that maybe.. that was the reason his Dad left them. He waited for your father there, he knew he will come to visit his mom that night. I found out what Dong Wook was planning through Crissy as well. So I called Teddy, asking him to trust me that time and just do everything to keep your dad home and I begged him to just forget about getting Dongwook I remembered how pissed he sounded on the phone, he said whatever the reason was I was too late because he made up his mind already that dongwook needs to learn how brothers should never betray each other. And before he hanged up he said something to me…
“I will trust you again on this Jaejoong, I’ll forget about you sleeping with her but never tell the boys or anyone about this… because I know they will just stop me and trust me, after what Dongwook did? I’ll punish him enough he’ll beg me to take back that bitch Crissy”
“it was Dongwook who shot my dad?” Dara didn’t exactly knew what to think of.
Jaejoong nodded. “I drove fast to his house but I was too late, I saw teddy standing on the door, his eyes on the floor and I was stunned seeing your dad lifeless and all bloodied on the ground. Dongwook was frozen as well… his mom was the same.
I knew I needed to get Dongwook away from there because Teddy will kill him, and I don’t want hyung to end up in prison for killing a friend, so I grab Dongwook and started driving him towards the police station. I know it was stupid but I can’t think of anything logical at that time”
Jaejoong sighed deeply while Dara watched him in silence. She wanted to hear more…
“I was stupid, he still have the gun on his hand and the damn guy shoot me like I wasn’t his fucking friend at all… I didn’t know what exactly happened after that. I woke up in a hospital, two weeks later they found me on a vacant lot somewhere . They didn’t know who I was…”
Jaejoong grew silent again, a bit getting angry at how things happened.
“When I got back, everyone thought I helped Dongwook runaway. Crissy killed herself and so did Mrs. Choi”
“So why didn’t you explain Jaejoong?”
“I did Dara, I wanted to clear my name. Yoochun worked on cleaning the scene, making it somehow looked like a shootout. At that time your family has just been into a funeral And Yunho said Teddy was really depressed and kind of crazy. I don’t want to add fuel to that I decided to keep it. I’ll kill him myself if the asshole comes back”
Dara fell helplessly on her seat. She can’t believe that Jaejoong sacrifice enough for his brother. Silence filled them once again. She didn’t cry and he was glad she didn’t, after all she’s a strong girl.
“So… what about us?” Dara ask perplexedly “What happened to us?’ Now she was about to cry
“Dara” he pulled her near him and gave her a hug. God knows how he long he waitedto do that. He missed hugging her. The past months without her was like a torture. For him, it wasn’t living at all. Max and his friends told him that he was like a living corpse.
“I’m sorry….” He hugged her tighter, not wanting to let go. But dara pushed him away.
“No! I don’t want to hear that. I want you to tell me everything” She demanded. She was willing to forgive him just as long as he’ll tell her everything.
Jaejoong stiffened a bit, letting his hug loosed around her.
“At first it was only a bet between me and Max, remember at the club? Well me and Sohee kind of broke up, but she wasn;t really my girlfriend after all but I found out she was dating Micky. I was cool with it., really… but Max didn’t believe me. So I told him to pick up any girl and I’ll make her pretty, famous and all”
“What the…? You thought I was ugly?” Her eyebrow curved up and arms crossed. Jaejoong smiled at her “ that’s the Dara I know”… fiesty”
“No, of course not. Instant I thought I won the bet already because you were already pretty” he smiled remembering their first date on the mall where he drag her around. “But then, I was kind of falling for you already but I didn’t want that… I was afraid to fall in love. And then finding out that you’re Teddy Hyung’s sister didn’t helped too so I gave up the bet”
“So that’s why Max won your car? that little jerk! he told me you sold it to him” shaking her head in disbelief.
The Jaejoong smiled again. “But after a few days you kind of called me. Remember? you thank me on the phone?” He teased, feeling ahppy that the tension between them was slowly fading.
Dara blushed. She felt her face heat up and reddened remembering that it was actually her who did the first move on him.
“Then we talk every night on the phone.. it was nice talking to you.. And getting to know you really. Then… we….” Jaejoong looked at her and smirked thinking of the first night together.
“Ya! I do know the order of things ok, you don’t have to remind me at all” she looked away being embarrassed
He was silent again, making strange faces and was obviosly thinking of how to explain it to her and not to provoke her further.
“Sohee found out about everything and threatened me to tell you about the bet and the secret. At that time I thought I was doing the right thing babe…. I wasn’t ready to lose you. I wasn’t ready to face what happened three years ago. I thought giving in to that slut is the best thing… so I agree with her just as long as she keep everything”
“Jaejoong” she pity him for everything that he went through and Dara almost hated herself for not letting the guy explain. She was too absorbed with her own suffering that she let her stubbornness gets in the way of her relationship with Jaejoong.
“Dara I’m sorry…. I should not have let it happened… I’m sorry for letting you see it. I felt horrible doing it” he took her hand rubbing his face into her smooth palms.
“baby… I’m really sorry”
He was looking at her yes intently, wanting to let Dara see how sincere he was and that he wasn’t lying anymore. Just staring at Jaejoong’s sorrowful eyes brought Dara to tears. She tried hard to held it in while gazing at his beautiful face. She was shaking and can barely hold herself. Then she felt herself leaning forward towards his face, her nose almost touching his just until they could feel each other hot breaths as their faces draw near to each other. Facing him this close like has always been her wish for the past months after they broke up and she was happy that she was given another chance…
“Jae Baby” She finally calls him again, missing calling him him that way. As his name gracefully passed through her lips she drew herself forward kissing him directly on his lips.
