Xiao You has arrived at this private little café Ximen has suggested. She is 30 minutes early well at least she has time to finalize her plans on her head, she just hopes that she would be effective.
She didn’t have long to wait for even before her order has arrived she sighted Xiao Gen being led to her table.
“Hi!” Xiao Gen greeted.
“Hi. Thanks for coming on such short notice. I hope I didn’t inconvenience you in anyway.” Xiao You said in greeting.
“Oh, no,no. Don’t worry I didn’t have any plans anyway and I’m used to getting up early in the morning. I just love Taipei Mornings, I actually missed this when I’m in Singapore.” Xiao Gen blabbered away. She was actually surprised when she received the call from Xiao You. She wanted to call Sancai but she didn’t know what she would say, so she just decided to just “wing it” first and then call her later.
“Me too. I actually missed Taipei very much when I’m in New York. I missed warm mornings like this, New York could get really cold and walking around in the morning is unbearable.” Xiao You related warming up to the person infront of her. When all this is through she actually hopes that she and Xiao Gen could really become friends. She is a nice and sincere person and she’s really easy to like. She is sure she has many things in common with her, Ximen is one, she thought. There is no jealousy upon realizing this for she is very confident with Ximen’s love for her; she has his ring doesn’t she?
Even before Xiao Gen could reply the waiter arrived with Xiao You’s order. “What would you like to have Xiao Gen?” Xiao You asked.
“Coffee would be just fine, thanks.” Xiao Gen replied.
“Do you like black coffee?” Xiao You asked warming up.
“Yes.” Xiao Gen replied.
“Ximen loves black coffee, did you know?” Xiao You asked again.
“Yes. He loves Italian Black coffee.” Xiao Gen again replied she hates where this is leading to, she didn’t want Xiao You to actually hate her, she hopes that when all this is through that she and Xiao You could become friends.
“Oh, yes I almost forgot, you grew up with him. I guess you know him very well, maybe better than I know him.” Xiao You commented.
“Oh I’m sure that’s not true. You’re his girlfriend, I’m just his friend.” Xiao Gen replied.
“Are you?” she cattily asked.
“What do you mean?”
“Are you really just his friend?”
“Xiao You….”
“Auntie likes you very much, she even treats you like a daughter. I really envy you that, with me. I’m not sure. I’m not even confident she likes me for Ximen.”
“Don’t say that Xiao You. Auntie likes you.” Xiao Gen said. She was not ready for this confrontation. Xiao You is taking her by surprise.
“I really wonder how come you suddenly appeared when you have been gone for a long time. Why now when you know that he has me. You know how Ximen is, he can’t resist a beautiful girl.”
“ Xiao You, if you asked me here to warn me off, you don’t need to. I don’t inted to take him away from you.”
“You don’t need to. He is yours…..that is if you still want him. I’m leaving again for New York, and I intend to break up with him.”
“What? But Xiao You….” Xiao Gen started to say in panic. This is a nightmare, what’s happening is actually what they tried to avoid in the first place. “Oh my God” Xiao Gen said to herself, she ruined Ximen and Xiao You’s relationship.
“Xiao You, you don’t understand. I never intended to….” Xiao Gen started to say again but she was cut-off.
“You don’t need to explain anything to me Xiao Gen. You know what, I actually want to thank you. I realize that Ximen and I would not work. He has known too many girls, he has played around too many times and I’m not sure that he could ever be faithful to me. What we have is a long distance relationship, have you known any relationship of the same kind to actually work? I only see that working in movies, but this is the real life, no amount of love could really overcome that obstacle. I have no intention of giving up my career for Ximen, I can’t just wait around until he has realized that he really loves me.” Xiao You said, hoping that Xiao Gen is biting the bait.
Xiao Gen could only stare at Xiao You, she doesn’t know what she could say that would change her mind. Her head is actually spinning. She’s having a hard time processing everything Xiao You has said.
“Well I just want to warn you, should you decide to really go after Ximen. You have to be ready for any woman popping up and seducing him away from you. That’s all I want to say actually. So, do you like living in Singapore?” Xiao You said and asked casually.
“What?” Xiao Gen asked suddenly confused.
“Do you like living in Singapore? I’ve been there when we had our Asian tour, but I didn’t get to explore the city that much.” Xiao You said.
“I’m really sorry Xiao You but I need to go now. I forgot I have an appointment, and I’m really late now. Sorry ok? Lets get together again soon ok?” Xiao Gen rattled off starting to get up and gather her things.
“But you haven’t finished your coffee? You barely touched it!” Xiao You said to the hurrying Xiao Gen.
“I’m sorry. Bye.” Xiao Gen said moving to the door.
“Call me!” Xiao You shouted to Xiao Gen’s retreating back.
“Whew! That was draining, but fun.” She said to herself remembering the shocked look of Xiao Gen, this made her grin. She looked at the time, thinking to give them at least four hours to have their conference before she makes the call. In the meantime she has to think of something to help her pass the time. She decided to just stay in the café until the malls are open, she might as well make use of her time to go around the shops. She again sipped her coffee wondering how Ximen’s morning went.

“Oh no! Oh no!” Xiao Gen couldn’t stop muttering to herself. She heaved a big sigh the moment she saw that they are about to enter the Daoming Mansion. She hoped that Xiao Qiao and Jing would arrive soon too so she only have to relay what happened this morning once. She called Sancai the moment she got in the car informing her that something bad happened and they need to talk and that she better call Jing and Xiao Qiao too.
The moment the car stopped she opened the door herself without waiting for the driver. She found Sancai waiting for her at the steps of the house.
“What happened?” Sancai asked worriedly.
“Sancai, I think we ruined Ximen and Xiao You’s relationship.” Xiao Gen said.
“What? Why? What happened?” Sancai asked impatiently.
“Do you mind if we wait for Jing and Xiao Qiao first?” Xiao Gen asked. And even before Sancai could open the door to admit Xiao Gen in two cars arrived simultaneously. Xiao Qiao and Jing calmly saunters up the steps looking at Sancai and Xiao Gen.
“What happened?” Xiao Qiao asked.
“Let’s go inside first where we can talk comfortably.” Sancai said and led her friends inside the house and into the living room. After everyone is settled and after she has instructed Yusao to bring in some refreshments Sancai then took her seat.
“What happened Sancai, what’s the problem?” Jing asked.
“I too would like to know. Xiao Gen?” Sancai said looking at Xiao Gen.
“Well, Xiao You called me this morning and asked me to meet up with her. I didn’t hesitate to say yes for I thought maybe she really just wants to hang around and have coffee. I really did not expect to hear what she said this morning.” Xiao Gen started to say.
“What did she say?” Sancai impatiently asked.
“She’s leaving for New York and breaking up with Ximen.” Xiao Gen said breathlessly.
“WHAT?”
“WHY?”
“WHEN?”
The three girls said at the same time. Xiao Gen then proceeded to relay what happened earlier on.

“Damn! Can someone explain to me what just happened?” Meizhou asked after a while, dazedly looking at Azi and Lei. He felt paralyzed after Ximen’s talk. He couldn’t do or say anything as he watched his brother’s retreating back.
“That my friend is us sucking big time!” Azi said shaking his head.
“I can’t believe we let Ximen down!” Meizhou again commented sadly.
“I don’t believe we just let him down, I think we even ruined his life. I actually won’t blame him if he never speak to us again.” Azi said looking frustrated.
“His life could be ruined because of our meddling! We can’t let him just leave. I really can’t believe this! Instead of helping him, we made matters worse! What kind of brothers are we!” wailed Meizhou. “I’m calling him up right now and just tell him that we just set all this up. I mean we can’t let him just leave can we?” MEizhou wailed, standing up and ready to confront Ximen.
“Stop it Meizhou! We have to think about this first. We can’t just burst in his room and say “Sorry, man, but we helped your dad plan this but since it’s not working lets just forget about all this.” Azi said blocking Meizhou’s path. “Do you think he would retract his decision? No I think the more he would go ballistic. So let’s first calm down and think about this rationally.” Azi said.
“Lei?” Azi asked the silent Lei.
“You’re both right we did suck. I think there are just two things left to do.” Lei said somberly.
“ What?” Azi and Meizhou eagerly asked.
“First we talk to Uncle and convince him to rescind his decision…..”Lei said.
“And the second?” Azi asked again after Lei again fell silent.
“We own up to the scheme and apologize.” Lei said with a shake of his head. He then stood up and started to walk out of the room.
“Just what I thought!” Azi said with a sigh. Azi and Meizhou then followed Lei looking dejected. They are not really looking forward to doing the second thing Lei said but they know they have no choice.

“My bestfriend is leaving and it’s all my fault! Not to mention the hurt I have caused her and Ximen.” Sancai cried, feeling awful after listening to Xiao Gens story.
“It’s not solely your fault Sancai. I’m at fault too.” Xiao Gen said feeling really bad.
“Everyone’s at fault! Don’t take the blame. We all our part of this, we all are to blame Sancai.” Xiao Qiao wailed.
“I should just have let them resolve their own issues. I should not have thought of making her jealous. Oh, God. I never thought that Xiao You would actually leave Ximen. She loves him! And I know Ximen loves her just as much. But now they’re both going to suffer because we tried to meddle.
“What should we do now?” Jing asked agitatedly.
“I don’t know. I can’t think right now.” Sancai said tearfully.
“I think we should call Auntie to let her know.” Xiao Gen said.
“I think we should also call our husbands.” Xiao Qiao said.
The sudden ringing of the phone interrupted them. Sancai wiped her tears off, took a deep breath and answered.
“Hello!”
“Wei, Sancai! Can I come by your house? I need to speak to you. And do you mind if I call Jing and Xiao Qiao too?” Xiao You said.
“Sure, sure. Are you ok Xiao You?”
“I’m not sure Sancai. Do you mind if we just talk later?”
“Ok. I’ll just wait for you then.” Sancai said ending the call.
“Xiao You is coming, she can’t see you!” Sancai said to Xiao Gen in panic.
“What? Should I go?” Xiao Gen asked now really getting confused.
“No, no. You don’t need to leave you can hide in one of the guest rooms. But I have to ask your driver to leave for a while.” Sancai said running out of the room but suddenly came back “Xiao Qiao, Jing you can’t be here yet! Xiao You’s going to call you first, but you can’t be here ahead of her. You better leave first and wait how ever long it usually takes you to get here. Yusao!” Sancai barked of. Everyone immediately sprung into action and did what they were told to do.
Sancai was out of breath when she again sat on the sofa in the living room. “How did it become this complicated?” She asked herself.
“What became complicated?”
“Xiao You!”
“I did tell you that I was coming over right? What’s wrong with you?” Xiao You asked her jumpy friend.
“Nothing! Just talking to myself, you know motherhood and all. Come over here and have a sit. What would you like to eat? I’ll have Yusao prepare it.”
“I’m ok Sancai. I have eaten already.” Xiao You replied.
“So, what’s up? How are you? And Ximen, how is he?” Sancai rattled off.
“Do you mind if we talk when Jing and Xiao Qiao are here already?” Xiao You requested. She noticed that her friend is looking everywhere but her, and she kept wringing her hands, a sign that Xiao Gen has indeed broken the news to her. She wonders if Xiao Gen is still here.
“Ok. I’m sure they’ll be here any minute now.” Sancai commented.
“I’m sure they will be.” Xiao You replied. She wonders where Jing and Xiao Qiao passed the time. Did they actually drove around or just stayed out of sight and waited.
“Jing!” Sancai cried a little too loud, she immediately covered her mouth realizing her mistake. “I have to keep calm. Oh Lord please give me strength!” she silently prayed.
Jing looked oddly at Sancai as if telling her to act normal and be calm. “Hello everyone” she greeted warmly.
“Hi Jing.” Xiao You greeted.
Sancai is marveling how Jing can act calmly as if nothing bad is happening. Even before she can make further analysis of her friend’s demeanor, Xiao Qiao arrived.
“Hi girls!” greeted by the serene Xiao Qiao. Sancai shook her head for it appears that it is only her who is actually nervous about all this. Xiao Qiao looked as unperturbed as Jing, Sancai can only sigh in envy wondering if they learned this in school.
“Thanks for accommodating me on short notice, Sancai, Jing Xiao Qiao.” Xiao You started to say looking at the three. After seeing them all nod she continued, “I actually just want to talk to you guys before I leave.”
“Leave?” Sancai couldn’t help ask tearfully. Although she knew about this through Xiao Gen hearing it coming from Xiao You made her all the more guilty and sad.
“I’m going back to New York.” Xiao You confirmed.
“You’re leaving so soon? But Ximen has not fully recovered yet. I thought you’ll stay until he’s ok?” Sancai asked
“I think he’s doing better now. I can’t stay any longer, I don’t want to anymore.” Xiao You said.
“Why? Did you guys had a fight?” Xiao Qiao asked worriedly.
“Not really. And anyway, I’m sure he has a lot of people to look out for him. He has all of you and Xiao Gen.” Xiao You said looking at Sancai who seem to have stopped breathing at the mention of Xiao Gen’s name.
“What are you saying Xiao You?” Sancai asked looking ready to burst into tears.
“I’m breaking up with Ximen. I’m leaving for New York and staying there for good. I don’t know when I could come back. I guess not until I’m healed again.”
“But why?” Jing asked.
“I don’t think I could stay around and just wait for Ximen. I need commitment which he can’t seem to give me. I want stability in this relationship which I don’t think we have. I don’t want to long for him anymore whenever I’m away. It takes too much energy. Love isn’t supposed to be this hard. Most of all I don’t think it is all worth it.” Xiao You said softly.
“What are you talking about Xiao You? Love is worth any sacrifice!” Sancai suddenly cried, “Love is hard at first but not for long and not always. Believe me Xiao You I’ve been through the worst, but look at me and Daomingsi, were still together and we love each other more and more. And you have that with Ximen.” She continued now approaching her friend and holding her hands.
“You have to fight for him and for your love. Nothing comes easy not even love, especially not if it involves any of the F4. But you have to stay strong and you have to trust in your love for each other.” Xiao Qiao said.
“Nobody is more dependable than those four who call themselves F4, and each one has stability for middle name. You can doubt the whole world but not them when it comes to commitment. They would put their lives on the line for the people they love, but they don’t love easily Xiao You, but once they do, it would forever be yours no matter what.” Jing said.
“Ximen loves you Xiao You!” Sancai said.
“That may be true Sancai, but I don’t think I’m strong enough. I don’t want to have to fight anymore. I’ve done that more than five years ago and in more ways than I could have thought of. What you all said may be true………..for you but not for me. I’m tired of fighting. I just want to be able to love and trust him. But I can’t….not anymore. I know you guys want to me to be happy, and I’m sure you all want to help me. But I have to say this, you have helped me already and that is more than enough for me.” Xiao You stated.
“I actually wanted to say thank you and goodbye to all of you. Sancai, thank you, you’re the best best friend I could have hoped for. You have helped me a lot, and I just want to say that I really appreciate all that. Xiao Qiao, Jing. Thanks for accepting me and being great friends as well, I know that I could always count on you.” Xiao You said kissing hugging her friends.
“Could I ask one favor from you?” Xiao You asked. The three just kept staring at her looking stunned. “Would you take care of Ximen, until he has found his perfect moment?”.
“Goodbye guys.” Xiao You finally said and quietly left the room.
The three girls were left immobilized in their seats. They can’t believe that just happened. As if only realizing that Xiao You has indeed left them they all looked at each other and started to cry.
“This is all my fault! I shouldn’t have messed up with their lives, and now look what I have done. Xiao You has left Ximen and it’s all my fault.” Sancai counted of her crime and again wailed.
“It’s also my fault, I was a part of this scheme, but this was not supposed to happen.” Xiao Qiao cried out.
“They were supposed to get together, not get separated. We have to do something about it. We have to call Auntie.” Jing said tears gently falling on her face.
“We should have just admitted to her, what we did! We have to talk to her, we have to tell her what we did.” Sancai said bawling louder. “I can’t just let Xiao You leave. I have to be honest with her, I’m going to call her right now and confess. She might be angry, ok, she could be furious at first, she might not even talk to me until Ahxu’s 21st birthday, but that’s the price I’m going to pay.” Sancai said
“Your right!” Xiao Qiao said.
That’s how the Daomingsi, Meizhou and Lei found their wives and fiancé. They were crying their eyes out as if somebody close to them actually died.
“What’s happening here?” Daomingsi’s voice startled the crying ladies.
“She left him and it’s our fault.”
“She’s gone and we are to blame.”
“Ximen is now alone because we messed everything up.”
The three girls wailed at the same time. The Azi, Meizhou and Lei just look at each other confused. Then Azi approached Sancai giving her a kiss on the cheek and hugged her. Meizhou sat beside his wife and kissed her forehead and let her cry on his shoulder. Lei approached Jing and wiped her tears away then kissed and held her hands to his chest in comfort. They just sat their comforting their women and waited until their tears abated.
Xiao Gen then came running into the living room. The guys looked at Xiao Gen with surprise and asked, “Do you know what happened?”
“I think so.” Xiao Gen answered and proceeded to tell the guys.
