“This is a pleasant surprise, you really look great Xiao You”, said Meizhou as he breaks the silence, and approached Xiao You and gave her a hug. Lei then followed suit, with Daomingsi right behind him. Ximen hesitated for an unbearable moment, then a smile dawned across his features, and approached Xiao You, “hello there stranger”, it seems that he can’t help himself and hugged Xiao You.
Xiao You felt everything just fell away, with that hug from Ximen. His smile did crazy things to her heartbeat. She wanted to lift her hand and lay it against his jaw and to trace the line of those sensual lips, but before she can make a move, Sancai was pulling her out of Ximen’s embrace and introducing her to Xiao Qiao and Jing. After the introductions and hello’s they finally settled in the dining room to eat.
Dinner was really fun, except for some tense moments with Meizhou trying to raise the ire of Ximen by asking questions that really put him and Xiao You on the spot.
“So Xiao You, did you miss Ximen?” Meizhou was at it again.
“Of course I did, I missed everyone” Xiao You smilingly replied.
“What do you do in Canada now Xiao You?” asked Xiao Qiao to cover up the blunder her husband seem to be doing with his relentless teasing.
“Well, I don’t live in Canada anymore, I actually moved to New York four years ago. I’m dancing with ABC which is based there so I had to move, although I still go home to Canada to visit my family every chance I get.”, Xiao You explained.
“What do you mean, what’s ABC?” this from Daomingsi.
“ABC, as in American Ballet Company?”, asked by Jing.
“Yes Jing you’re right”. Clarified by Xiao You,
“But I thought your Pa, did not allow you to pursue ballet?” asked again by Daomingsi, remembering Sancai’s story when they were in VS sometime ago.
“Well, he changed his mind when we moved to Canada, you see since he really felt guilty about our move, he finally relented on allowing me to study ballet and drop out of college. After that I enrolled in Julliard school in Toronto, and then I got drafted by American Ballet Academy and after training for about 6 months I moved on to American Ballet Company, and been dancing with them ever since.” Explained Xiao You.
“You must be really good, coz I heard when I was still in New York, that ABC only gets the best dancer there is, and they only get 3 new dancers a year, and sometimes none at all when no one pass their standards”, Xiao Qiao said with admiration in her voice for Xiao You.
“I guess I was really lucky”, replied by Xiao You.
“Oh, don’t be so humble Xiao You, you see guys my best friend is really the best!” Sancai said with a wink for Xiao You.
“Are you here for vacation Xiao You?”, asked lei
“Well, sort of for the next 3 days at least”,
“What do you mean?” asked Sancai,
“Well, we’ve been doing this Asian tour, for a month now, and Taipei is our last leg, we just finished our performances in Singapore, Philippines, Thailand and Malaysia, but we were given a 4 day break, before our last performance, and then have to go back to New York”
“Oh my gosh, I almost forgot, remember the ballet group I was telling you about I think 2 months ago? That’s you! I remember, they said that they have the best 2 principal dancers and one of them is Asian, and that’s you Xiao You” excitedly exclaimed by Xiao Qiao.
“Didn’t I tell you my bestfriend’s the best!”, repeated by Sancai with a proud grin.
“We really have to watch. By the way Xiao You what kind of ballet are you doing?” Jing said excitedly.
“Well, were doing Swan Lake and Grand Pas Classique for this tour. But we are currently experimenting on Modern Ballet back in New York but sadly it’s not ready yet so we opted for the classics for this tour; but who knows maybe we can come back and perform the newest form of ballet once it’s ready or maybe you can go to New York and watch the opening.” Xiao You replied.
“Well we’ll definitely be there on those 2 nights, right guys?” Sancai said addressing everybody.
“Well you better be there, I’m giving you tickets so you’ll have no excuse, especially you guys.”, Xiao You said with a smile on her face knowing that not too many men are really fond of ballet, especially F4.
“They’ll be there!” Sancai joyfully commited. Xiao You just grinned at them, knowing that looking at men in tights is not F4’s cup of tea, but she is sure that these guys would be there nonetheless, if only to escape the wrath of Sancai.
Ximen, was quietly pondering the conversation flowing around him, he is really surprised by these revelations about Xiao You. He was really glad and proud of her, “it seems MY GIRL, has gone places”, Ximen thought, “my girl? What the hell are you thinking Ximen!”.
“Did you say something Ximen?” asked Xiao You, looking at the otherwise silent man seated beside her. She has been wondering why Ximen has been silent during dinner, but she was surprised when Ximen muttered something.
“Ah, nothing, nothing, sorry, I was just thinking of something about work, sorry”, Ximen was really annoyed that he seem to be voicing out his thoughts, he heaved a big sigh when it seems that Xiao You did not really caught what it was he said.
“Hey, enough about me, you guys should update me on what you’ve been up to for the past 5 years.” Xiao You playfully said while looking at Ximen, and then turned her head across Meizhou and said “you first Meizhou, did you finally do something good that landed you with a very beautiful and charming wife?”
“Well if you must know, it’s been Xiao Qiao who’s really inlove with me you know, I just gave in cause she was really relentless!”,
“Yeah, right Meizhou, brag about that, as if that is true” Xiao Qiao said, as she immediately teased her husband. After the Cello incident (the time when MZ rescued XQ’s cello from the sea), Meizhou has finally admitted that he was head over hills in love with Xiao Qiao, and never let her out of his sight, until they got married 3 years ago. They now have a 1 ˝ year old son, who seems to have taken after his dad.
“how about you lei and Jing?”, Xiao You asked
“Well Jing and I are getting married in 6 months time” Lei proudly declared
“I hope you get to come to our wedding, Xiao You”, Jing said to Xiao You
“I hope so too, don’t worry, I will really try to be back for your wedding”, promised Xiao
You. She then turned her attention to Ximen, waiting for him to speak, but it seems that Ximen is determined to continue with his brooding.
“Hey Ximen, its your turn, Xiao You’s asking about what you have done for the past 5 years”, Meizhou stated.
With a glare at Meizhou’s direction, Ximen replied “well, nothing much, just work, that’s it, nothing really exciting happened”.
“Nothing? I don’t believe that, how about let see…..still counting 7 days with your meimeis?” Ximen paled at that comment from Xiao You.
“Actually, Xiao You, our playboy here has relinquished his title already, you know, not that he’s become a monk or something but, his 1 week policy is now just a thing of the past, he was busy bagging the title of “business man of the year” for 3 consecutive years now, leaving no room for meimeis” Meizhou answered for Ximen.
Xiao You then looked again at Ximen and whispered, “I’m glad”.
Ximen’s heartbeat escalated when Xiao You leaned into him and whispered those words, he closed his eyes, and was lost for a moment, savoring Xiao You’s scent, but as soon as he heard laughter, he opened his eyes, and looked around, thankful that the rest did not notice what he did.
Although Xiao You appears to be oblivious of the quiet Ximen, Sancai noticed her glancing Ximen’s way whenever Ximen would laugh, or a look of concern will pass her face at his somber mood. She was closely observing the two, and equally noticed Ximen’s demeanor, his smiles at Xiao You’s funny stories, his proud grin at Xiao You’s accomplishments, and his frowns at her hardships, and through all this her suspicions are slowly being revealed true. She’s still in deep thought until Daomingsi nudged her and said “I think it’s your turn”.
“Oh…well I don’t think there was anything I left out from our conversation yesterday. The queen and I are now doing ok, miracles of miracle she has finally accepted me, and everything is finally falling into place. After all the hardships Daomingsi and I have gone through it seems this time were finally experiencing life and love’s rewards. Sancai declared rubbing her stomach and blowing Daomingsi a kiss.
The next 2 hours flew by with so much laughter and lighthearted banters from everyone. And they promised to take Xiao You out to the beach the next day for some fun and relaxation, for Xiao You mentioned that she missed going to the beach.
Sancai immediately thought of bringing her to the beach house F4 has bought 2 years ago, and after much convincing from the girls, the guys relented and promised to join the girls in the afternoon, after they have settled some stuff in their offices.
