Chapter 2

Chapter 2
Hankyung woke up to the sound of Eunmi crying by his side. He instantly got up the bed and picked Eunmi up. Now it dawns to him, he has work today and he doesn’t know where to leave the baby.

“Shhh….Stop crying angel…Are you hungry? Let’s get some milk for you okay?” He then rushed to the kitchen where he kept all the bottles he bought the day after Tiffany died. He checked the wall clock: It was 8 in the morning. He had to go to school at 9.

“Oh, you peed didn’t you? Oh you bad girl..” He said, nuzzling his nose to Eunmi’s little one. Then she cried.

“Oh, sorry, sorry, daddy didn’t mean to, now, I’ll get you changed and then I’ll leave you by Mrs. Jung next door, okay?” After he changed Eunmi’s diapers, he took a quick bath with her, then changed into his work clothes: consisting of black sweat pants, t shirt, and a hoodie with the school he’s working for printed on it.

“Mrs. Jung, Mrs. Jung” Han Kyung knocked on the door beside the one leading to his unit. There was no answer. He concluded that his old neighbour was either asleep, or moved out. That left him with no choice: bring Eunmi to school. He knows it’s not the right thing to do, but what else could he do?

Once at the high school, students and teachers alike were staring at him. Who couldn’t? Mr Han the tough hot and manly P.E. teacher carrying a small baby with matching baby bag. Fortunately, Yuri and Ryeowook saw him and dashed to him.

“Hyung, what do you think you’re doing?” Ryeowook said, alarmed by the sight before him. Hankyung looked miserable.

“No ones gonna take care of Eunmi at home, and I can’t exactly leave her there can’t I?” He said.

“Oh my God Oppa. If Mr Park sees you, you’re dead meat.” Yuri said. “I told you you should have given her to that Choi guy.”

“Yuri, cut it, Hankyung knows what he’s doing.” Said Eunhyuk from behind, who had catched up.

“Honestly, I don’t know what I’m doing.” Hankyung said miserably. “Yuri, could you look after Eunmi while I have classes?”

“WHAT? Are you crazy? I can’t exactly bring the baby to the library and display it on my desk couldn’t I?” Yuri was the school librarian, and subject of much howling and whistling from the male students.

“What about you, Wook, Hyuk?” Hankyung already knew the answer.

“If I could, I will hyung, I’m sorry.” Ryeowook said. He was the Music teacher.

“Don’t speak Hyuk, I already know the answer.” Hankyung said.

“Well no, I also couldn’t, but you could bring her to Taeyon in the infirmary. You know how much she loves babies.” Eunhyuk suggested.
…..

Everything went well for the next few days, at least with the current situation. One day when Hankyung was about to start teaching Chinese Martial Arts.

“Ok, so can anyone give examples of Chinese Martial Arts?” He said. “Yes, Ms Sun.”

“Wushu.” The pretty girl with glasses said.

“Very good. What else? How about you Mr. Kim, or should I say ‘Almighty Key’”

There was a collective laughter from the class. Key rolled his eyes and blurted out inaudibly. “Kung Fu.”

“Good, Mr Kim. What else, yes, Taemin?” Just then Taeyon, one of the nurse interns, appeared with an anxious face.

“Excuse me, may I have a word with Mr Han?” She said politely, even though she was evidently pressured.
“Yes, Taeyon, how’s my Eunmi?” Hakyung said, exiting the gym.

“Well, that’s it, she’s been coughing and coughing, and it seems like she has difficulty breathing.” Taeyon, said, afraid that Hankyung might hit her or something. He just dashed to the infirmary, where he saw Yuri and Ryeowook around Eunmi, looking worried.

“Out of the way!” Hankyung shouted. He saw Eunmi, who was crying profusely, while being so red, and coughing in between sobs. ”Oh my God. Baby…Let’s bring you to the hospital.” He said, picking her up and singing his silencing songs to the baby. He was walking fastly on the hallway, with the students staring at him.

“Mr Han, what’s the meaning of this?” Mr Park, the principal said.

“He’ll explain later!” Yuri answered for him. The lack of respect shocked the principal, only Ryeowook was polite enough to bow, but hastily.

Yuri and Ryeowook followed Hankyung to the hospital, where he was ushered in by a nurse to a clinic with lots of patients waiting.

“FOR GOD’S SAKE, MY BABY CAN’T BREATHE ALREADY, CAN YOU HURRY UP!” Hankyung said when he lost his patience. He was still 4 patients away from seeing the doctor. Everyone turned to look at him. The people in front of him instantly gave way to Hankyung, their kids just had some mild cold of sort, clearly, this man’s case was much more serious. The door to the clinic opened and out came a nurse.

“Geum, GEUM!” The stout woman said.

“Please let this man first.” Mrs. Geum said. Hankyung bowed to Mrs Geum. The nurse hesitated for a moment, but finally let Hankyung in, with Yuri and Ryeowook behind. The doctor, an middle aged man, let them sit, while Hankyung was about to kill everyone for their slownesss.

“MUST DOCTORS BE ALWAYS SLOW! DO SOMETHING, SAVE MY BABY!” He said. Yuri and Ryeowook can only look down and comfort their close friend. The doctor then magically transformed from a slow working man to an urgent working doctor.

“What’s the problem, mister?” He said.

“Uhm, the nurse at school said she was coughing and coughing, and I noticed that too, then she has a fever, she hasn’t stopped crying until now.” Hankyung said.

“The nurse at school?” The doctor aid while he retrieved a thermometer from his cabinet. He inserted it to Eunmi’s underarms, and she instantly began crying again.

“Shhhh…Baby, the doctor’s just getting your temperature, then everything’ll be alright, okay?” Hankyung said to Eunmi, who was crying endlessly.

“If I’m right in thinking that you are taking this baby to school everyday, and if I’m right in guessing that you’re a teacher in that school, then you are doing the wrong thing.” He started checking Eunmi with a stethoscope. Hankyung didn’t answer. “Miss, are you the mother of this chid?” The doctor said at Yuri.

“Oh no, no, I’m not.” She replied.

“I guessed right. May I ask, Mr Han, where is this child’s mother?” Eunmi was again crying loudly. The doctor was inserting that gun-like instrument on Eunmi’s ear.

“You’re hurting her!” Hankyung said. “There’s always pain included in cure, Mr Han.” The doctor replied sternly. “You aren’t the father aren’t you?”

“How-how, did you know?”

“The doctor who attented to Tiffany is my wife.” Everybody was surprised.

“All I could say Mr Han is that you better give the child to its rightful father, what you are doing is punishable by law.” He said darkly.

“I know.”
